Monster Hunter Generations Demo June 30th + Early Access Codes today.

So, i got tons of stuff from the humble bundle 4$ tier, if anyone wants something lol.

....because I just couldn't wait 5 more minutes and get it for free on the EU store. SMH

Wow, adept style is crazy good. Feels like i'm playing dark souls with these roll invincibility frames.

Also, they actually made the camera controls analog now.

it's amazing. 4 on steroids.

one question though, when using SA, I remember I could morph it into sword while performing a combo. I believe it was X with Axe, then R?

I can't do it here. Did something change?

You can morph into sword mode with the run-in forward+X attack, and I believe in Generations you can also do it after the upward swing. However the moveset of each weapon varies a bit depending on what style you're using.

After running through the tutorial and three solo quests, getting a hang of the different hunting styles is going to take me awhile. I like some of the different heavy bowgun hunting arts, though. Managing gunpowder infusions in addition to regular ammo is a fun juggling act. The HBG looks like another custom weapon made for the demo that isn't likely to exist in the full game.

I also like all the little visual touches they've added to the Misty Peaks.

Guh, trying to hold out for a email before I bite the bullet for the humble bundle......

EDIT: It should let you buy more then once IIRC

Since there are two threads about this, I'll post here too. I just got my email with codes, so I can confirm emails are going out, and they're coming from Nintendo.

Yeah I like the Hunting Arts they give you with the HBG. Hitting with the Supernova is pretty tough though if the enemy isn't down or sitting still lol. Curious to see what the other ones are like. They also made the aiming much smoother too.

You can play online and with gaf right?

ya, you can play online or local with 3 other people.

Yes, at $4 or more. It might be worth waiting until later today when people start getting codes via email if you're not interested in any of the other stuff there, just in case you get an email.
Eh it's just $4 i am sure ill get at least 90 awesome minutes out of it i have spent 5x that seeing shitty movies.

I noticed that too about the Supernova. It takes ages to fire, its range seems fixed, and even hitting a sleeping monster with it wasn't enough to finish it off. It actually feels like it less oomph than the old Wyvern Fire shots. Pretty sure the full game lets you swap arts around so I'll likely replace it with the evade art instead.

Bushido Style with the HBG seems somewhat risky. I only did a few hunts with it against Nargacuga though. The reload boost animation after the Bushido Evade takes some time and leaves you vulnerable for a bit. I'd feel like you'd lose some damage output compared to a normal evade, but I dunno. It's pretty fun though even if the evade seems a bit too strong. I'll have to try it some more.

You can press X to skip the animation and go right to the roadie run.

Woo! One of the best little surprises of this evening was opening an email notification and finding this. Still downloading but I'm up after for running around and testing this new shit out.

Anyone having problems with the circle pad on the new 3ds for this game? I have to press it really hard

Didn't have this problem with 4, perhaps it's my 3ds?

I'm really liking Aerial Hammer. The tradeoff is supposed to be losing the level 3 charge attacks, but I liked the level 2 attack more most of the time because of its range, so being able to hold that indefinitely is almost an advantage for me.

I guess this is the demo thread so I'll post my impressions.

The difficulty is way too easy. With Maccao and Malfestio it makes sense since they need to ease new players in, but Narga was a complete joke. They should have had a new monster like Glavenus as the hardest quest.

I'm not a fan of any of the new styles. Thankfully they included a way to play this as traditional MH for people like me so everyone can be happy.

Hunter arts are neat, but I feel like they charge way too fast. It was crazy how many I could pull off in a single fight with the dual blades. It felt like less than a minute between using aerial slam and having another one charged up and ready to go.

I never got a chance to try out the prowlers, but they seem pretty neat (assuming they get all of the abilities that your palicos do).

Overall not a bad demo, but kinda disappointing. It seems like it would be great for newcomers.

Was pleasantly surprised to see I managed to get a code email tonight! I have yet to put a lot of time in this series so far having only played a little of both 3U and 4G but I really enjoyed the demo. Managed to surprisingly take down all 3 monsters in solo mode despite not being a pro with the switch axe yet.

Had some time to play around a bit more and it's great, i'm definitely hyped for next month.
Haven't gotten the timing for adept down for now, but I'll get used to it. Not quite sure if it makes much sense for multiplayer since the monster aggro is split so much. At least when playing bow. But it'll be good for singleplayer.
I like how arts add another layer of customization, but in the end most will use the same arts since from what I could gather some are simply more useful than others, oh well.
Played around with LBG a bit as well and the demo gun kinda sucks lol. But delivering the killing blow with the evade explosion art was pretty bad ass!
And a couple QoL changes that are greatly appreciated. Camera speed can be sped up which is awesome. MH4U's camera was a bit too slow for my liking. Holding A to gather is great, too!

I have to say tho that I'm a little disappointed that the performance took such a hit on New 3DS during multiplayer. MH4U was buttersmooth and looked amazing.
The game also seems to drain battery fast. I went from 2 bars to red light in 10min during a hunt, wow.

It depends on the move. Shoryugeki on the sword and shield takes way longer to build up than the spinning slash one.

can you buy more than once for one more code?

I was wondering this as well. I'm not sure if you can buy a second bundle with the same account. Probably? I'm not sure why they'd want to prevent sales. BUT - just in case - I was going to use another account to buy it a second time (probably my wife's).

Still waiting a bit to see if I get an email code first though ...

Hmm, I kinda like the Aerial Style for HBG, but I feel like you'd need stick somewhat close to the monster a lot more to make good use of the special attacks you can do from the hop. It's pretty fun bouncing off the monster, reloading then shooting and then landing into siege mode though.

also ended up watching a few of the late game monster fights. Even if it's not G-rank damn they do a lot of damage even with high end defense stats. Saw a few big attacks that took off half health or more. Gonna be a long month wait lol...
