The community |OT| for the Switch version is better than any thread that I could make, so I'll just link it here for most useful information:

On the fence with double dipping once again. The demo ran really well on my rig but not sure I can invest another 300 hours to get to where my switch profile is at.

Can always start a new character in the opposite "body type" as we like to call it now, with a new weapon. It'll pretty much feel like a new game at that point, that's what I'm doing.

nope I can`t tolerate those graphics anymore after MHW. I really hoped Capcom would do more with the visuals than just upscale the portable version....
There actually is a high res texture pack, but it doesn't do anything about the simple geometry of the maps and backgrounds. I think the monsters look fine considering the source. At least the simple geometry means that there are more flat arenas again for fighting, I wasn't a fan of all the rocks and slides and hills and shit in World after 100 hours.

Also it’s thanks to that they could bring back Leviathan class Monsters.

For me personally I’m much bigger fan of Rise’s aesthetics compare to world but that’s just me.

Maining another weapon does sound fun. Sunbreak PC is still planned to launch the same time as the Switch version as far as we know? That should be enough time to get to endgame.

I get what you're saying, but it looks a lot better than Generations Ultimate for instance, which really is just a straight 3DS port.

The resolution literally goes all the way down to 320 x 200 for that genuine (less than) PSP experience. I would try the demo on the integrated card and see what you can get out of it. The newer Intel stuff might be able to play it without too much issue at low settings. Not sure about GeForce NOW though.

It's not the graphic (i mean not entirely), it's how bland, desolate and poor geometry wise the locations look compared to world, that make the game look worse than it really is.

Characters and dinos are ok.

Try the hdr mode, colors popping out kinda help and the game has great hdr.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Game was great fun on the Switch, and I can only imagine this version being even better.

Have fun!

Ready to put another ton of hours into this. Tbh I might have held off if the DLC wasn't gonna come out on the same day. Glad I didn't though, port seems solid and having this run at an unlocked framerate @ 1440p is fantastic.

And it's just dawning on me that I barely saw this on any GOTY lists. Shame.

Man I forgot how customizable the whole experience is. Took me the better part of 45 minutes to just get the UI and various settings (hunter chatter off) the way I like it. Am I crazy or was there a setting to auto hide the map during battle? I found the "auto hide HP/Stamina bars" but I don't remember the map taking up that much real estate before.

People compare with the graphics of World, but on the other hand i find the soundtrack in Rise to be miles better

Everything about Rise is better than World except the graphics and frame rate. I main Lance and Bow and for both I could never go back to Iceborne gameplay.

My biggest fear is actually that the inevitable next gen MH builds on World instead of Rise / GU.

Capcom says it wants to start focusing on PC, which might mean a stronger focus on lower end hardware for some games.
So we can hope they'll build on Rise instead of World.

That's very nice, but still just very "japanese" sounding, the music in World has that "high fantasy" feel which I personally like better.
Vaal hazak and velkhana themes are just insane master pieces, pride of a nameless hunter and nay the honor is all hours get the blood pumping, and I don't think anything got me more hype than the fatalis version of proof of a hero; it just hits at every level.

World ost isn't bad per say, its just that Rise ost feels more consistently good to me.
A lot of the songs you mentioned for example are from specific moments like boss fights, while the one i just showed is just a normal fight music from one of the initial levels.
I couldn't help but feel a lot the tracks in World felt somewhat generic, meanwhile Rise's ost immediatly stood out for me right from the get go. Of course, it could just be a matter of personal taste.

Don't forget, this is the first MH on RE Engine, the previous was MT Framework 2.X which they're likely done with (or working on a 3.0 of maybe?) There's a good chance they'll stick with RE Engine for a bit though, it's pretty scalable.

Definitely done with MTF, it served its purpose for the mentality they adopted all the way back in 2005: PC first, then scale down and reach parity with consoles.
RE engine is pretty much better in every way while keeping that same development mentality; they might still use MTF for some smaller projects, like ace attorney stuff, but everything internally is going to be RE engine moving forward.
Though not entirely sure if SF6 will be UE or RE engine.

Looks like steam peeps are having trouble creating save files.
Hmm, no problems for me there. I did run into the problem that yet_another_alt yet_another_alt mentioned above though, resetting my button prompts when I restart the game.

Also I tried out HDR but it fucked everything up and I couldn't get the picture back until I rebooted the PC.

I’ve done this for almost every new MH game and expansion. If there’s ever a perfect opportunity to learn a new weapon, it’s with a new game.

I was a long time Lance main and I dropped Lance in Rise. The reason is because Rise Lances arguably best way to play is with Spiral Thrust and I don’t care for that playstyle at all. I also think it looks super lame. I like counter style lance, with some evading mixed in. Rise Lance just doesn’t feel like lance anymore. It’s not what I want out of the weapon. I want to counter every attack and be an unstoppable iron wall that never backs down, not a zippy whirly doo that flys all over the map. Hopefully Sunbreak adds some new moves or buffs Lance in other ways. I don’t like the spiral thrust playstyle at all.
In Rise i use GS, LS, SnS and IG. Up to this point in the series Lance had always been included in that list.
And yes, the other playstyles are still there. I do have some “classic” lance sets made that I mess around with from time to time, but they just don’t feel as effective. Especially knowing that I could be spiral thrusting my way to victory much faster.

Spent all night unlocking up to village 4*, got all the camps unlocked, working on great wirebugs. I forgot just how much time all of these little unlocks take, I feel like I've barely fought any monsters. Still, I like getting it out of the way early so you don't have to mess with it later.

I said I was going to do HH this time, but I dunno, I don't like the idea of not being able to cut tails. Maybe if I was co-op with a friend, and he could cut tails, then I wouldn't mind. Pissed around with a few other weapons I never usually play, and ended up deciding to give CB an honest go of it this time. I heard that Rise is the worst iteration of the weapon, but I'm finding it fun to play. I need to learn my opportunities for SAEDs though, I've been getting slapped while trying to set it up quite a bit. Also I haven't touched Guard Points since 4U, so I need a refresher on those too.

Any CB mains in here? Which Switch skill is the better of the charged sword mode or the spinning axe mode? I like the sword mode a bit better currently because it does impact damage throughout and I barely spend any time in Axe mode. I assume it will just get worse as the monsters get more mobile.

If you want to min-max then the Spiral Thrust is optimal but it’s not like you can’t use the special counter and do just fine, I played almost the entire game like that and it’s fine.

What I love about the Lance in Rise is:
- the alternate sprint is amazing as a gap closer or to absorb one hit while dashing
- the special counter feels as good as it did in GU
- the wire bug mobility options alleviate the lack of mobility of the weapon
- no counter claw garbage.

A little update for those of you that are having the save game issue:

Also, the guy that did Monster Hunter Stories 2 cross save from Switch to PC is working on a Switch -> PC Rise save tool.

How does last year's Monster Hunter look after make the leap from Switch hardware to PC? Here's 10 Minutes of PC Gameplay so you can see for yourself! The PC version is running at 1080p at max graphical settings with only film grain, motion blur, and lens distortion turned off since those aren't technically quality settings, just personal preference.

The PC version of Monster Hunter Rise includes ultrawide support and a higher framerate. It also boasts all the Monster Hunter Rise DLC that came out post-release for the Nintendo Switch version in the lead-up to Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. The 60fps boost is a big deal for Monster Hunter Rise since it moves so quickly.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
This game is overall beautiful, hardly far behind World which I always found muddy and a bit garish and inconsistent, with equally sharp if not sharper textures for monsters and stuff, with the usual great animations and effects and art design with beautiful vistas and detailed objects all over the place. Sure, some straight polygonal edges are visible in the actual terrain but with the crazy wirebug traversal and more verticality allowed throughout the maps you can get good views of the whole quest area from any number of random places and it's great to see it all in this way, if they had this traversal in World I bet they would have had to scale back some of the detail there also (but probably keep the nicer 3D grass stuff). The only minor things I take issue with are a) the angular heads if you choose to go for a baldie, but that's mostly visible in the creation screen/without helmet etc., b) certain grass billboards represent a wide bundle of plants so where they meet the ground you can see a straight line making their 2dness even more evident, mostly in stills as seen below, and c) this weird shadowing lod thing going on a certain distance ahead of you for seemingly no real reason as I don't see how that saves on performance for Switch, I hope someone can figure out how to turn it off or whatever, I've tried to capture it in these screenshots (look to the left of the little green spiribird thing and how the more shadowed area gives way to more light as I approach):

Check the setting under Advanced Graphics Settings for "Processing Reduction via Model Swapping". I'm not sure that it's the thing creating your problem, but seems a likely candidate.

No I'm pretty sure I have that off. Or are you saying to turn it on? I saw this in trailers (or gameplay footage Idk) also before release mind.

Yea I meant to shut it off if you had it on. Might just be some built in LoD thing built into the game since the Switch version. I hadn't noticed it playing yesterday, but I wasn't specifically looking for it either.

Pretty sure that you can't fix it, some people on reeeee had the same problem and it was the same in the demo.

Is mh rise like world where you have to unlock a fuckload of stuff between palicos instruments, food, camps, etc.

Do you have a link with a guide to unlock everything?
