Monster Hunter Tri G confirmed for 3DS (Famitsu)

One of the new monsters for Monster Hunter Tri 3DS has been revealed, it's huge:

Yes, but as I've pointed out in other threads (finally a thread actually relevant to it) that the Vita is not getting an original MH game. It's just MHP3 (the PSP game) running in a higher resolution with some better textures.

Now if it was a MHP3G (as opposed to this, Tri G) that was upscaled, then maybe. But the rumors just say the normal game...

NOW Sony's stocks can drop and it would be for a real video game-related reason.

According to rumors there is another MH port for Vita.

I think Capcom will go the Call of Duty way from now on with this IP and put the next Monster Hunter on both consoles ( PS3/WiiU) and portable devices(Vita/3DS).

At best they'll get a port of a game that's already been released twice in the last year. Monster Hunter won't be a Vita selling point until the fourth console title is released and a new Portable game is announced, which likely won't hit for a year or more after that, if history is any indication.

In the short term, 3DS is going to be the place to be for Monster Hunter fans, and it just so happens that it's going to hit right when Vita is launched. Yes, that is going to hurt it.

Yeah, well, there's other countries with people that like Monster Hunter too, you know!

There'd be nothing stopping them from adding it for a Western release. Or because online doesn't matter to Japan, they just didn't feel the need to mention it in the article.

Nintendo seems to be doing many things right with securing Japanese software... DQ and MH.

... but the hardware. Oh God.

This was the thinking behind every Monster Hunter that got announced for the PSP.

It's nice to want things... :(

Stoked about the game, not too stoked about the whack hardware add-on. I may simply sell my launch 3DS and buy the inevitable hardware revision.

What a gong show.

This might be a stupid question, but do we even know for a fact this thumb basket is required for MH? Maybe it's just an optional alt camera control.

So is this going to require the expansion cradle or not?

Depends on what Vita's getting... (ie, whether its version of MH3P has significant new content).

Well, you're more than welcome to go back to the Claw.

This is indeed bad news for Sony. I gave them a good chance. Same price as 3DS, superior technology, great lineup of games. With MH they would have crushed 3DS. Now 3DS is much cheaper and has MH (and Vita gets only a re-release). Even with the additional peripheral this game will probably sell a million 3DS.

Well if the 10.net thing is correct (which we now know it is) then the cradle is only $10. Would not be shocked if Tri G shipped with it for free or at least a limited edition.

I doubt; there's some touch screen interaction for camera control I read.
I believe I read that touching the screen would automatically face you in the monster's direction. This is fine for single hunts, but high rank play rarely ever stays a single hunt, especially when the other monster is usually a T-Rex on crack.

Would be cool and similar to how Tri shipped with the CCPRO.

I don't care what I have to attach to the 3DS to play this, but I'm getting it day 1.

... but I'm sure Capcom has something to say about that. Dammit.

I have to admit it all just seems so weird to me. 3DS get a new game and Vita gets jack shit.

Can someone describe what the new monster looks like? Sounds like people think it looks dumb.

Not stupid I guess. The link from AndriaSang says that the add-on: is listed as TBA, while Tri G is listed for this year. So at the moment, Tri G requiring it seems to be just a rumor.

Then again, the rumored price is $10 by itself, so it wouldn't surprise if it's bundled "for free" with the game which might get a few hundreds of thousands add-ons in the hands of japanese gamers..and ten in the rest of the world.

A little off-topic, but is Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii still worth playing? I'm thinking about buying it tomorrow and it will be my first MH game. Is online still active?

That's sad. I want Monster Hunter 3 Tri- G AND Monster Hunter Portable 3rd G.

On one hand, Nintendo has secured the next big Dragon Quest and Monster Hunter all for themselves. Talk about really putting the competition to the edge in Japan.

On the other hand, the hardware...especially that R Analog stick. The fuck? I'm sure it'll be packaged for free with the game but damnit does it look retarded.

Yes, still very active.

It's already been confirmed. You don't announce something that'll come out in the next three months unless you're really ready to get it out.

It's a great experience even without online, but I think you can find active players in the Tri OT.

It's more worth playing then any other MH, so yeah.

Obviously big for 3DS, and will probably benefit it considerably more in Japan than the hideous peripheral will hurt it, but I'm still not quite sure why Capcom would confuse the MH and MHP series by putting the console series on a handheld. I suspect that either Sony has already secured the next MHP installment for Vita, or Capcom just wants to keep its options open.

Also, I'm genuinely baffled as to why Nintendo let this news come out six days before their conference - there's no announcement they could plausibly make that would be bigger in terms of its impact on the Japanese market than this.

GAF activity has pretty much died except for the ocassional run, but normal players should still be very active, and yeah it's an amazing game.

So regarding this news, I went from giddy as fuck to totally devasted.

Maybe there isn't any distinction anymore. They'll just put the games on handhelds from now on.
