Monster Hunter Tri G confirmed for 3DS (Famitsu)

Question, what's the difference between the MH3 for Vita and 3DS?
MHP3 HD the rumored Vita release is just an upscaled version of the PSP game from last year that has since recently been released on the PS3 so a port of a port.

It continued the lineage of the portable series and took some concepts from Tri on the Wii while limitations meant it couldnt get new features like underwater combat.

MHTri G is basically taking the Wii game adding features from the Portable series, adding new content etc and bringing it to the 3DS

The progression from getting your ass kicked, learning how to counter and attack monsters, managing to down one after a long battle, only to end up facing an even harder challenge.

It is like climbing a hill made of hills. You get over one and another bigger one is in front of you.

U rite gud. I miss your diary entries in the Tri OT.

I always remember an audio snippet from a Giant Bomb podcast in reference to Tri. Something along the lines of "You wanna learn 8 different control schemes?" It was intended as a definite knock against the game, but my answer was a resounding "Hell yeah" in my head. Pick up a new weapon, learn to use it. Its a whole new game.

Hmm, can we assume that since the PSV isn't, well, limited like the PSP, that it will get those other features as well? I don't think Nintendo seems like the "pay for exclusive stuff" type.

The Vita game is supposedly a port of the PSP game, while this is an expansion of the Wii game. The Vita game should lack underwater combat for example. The 3DS game also has a new town and new monsters, which means new weapons and armor. Maybe new areas as well. It seems to be the complete Wii title, plus most (or all) things from the PSP/ Vita title, plus new stuff.

No reason at tall to believe that they would get the stuff that is being added to Tri G, or the water segments when they were taken out of 3rd Portable and didn't get added in the HD Ps3 port which the Vita game is rumored to be a port of.

Amusing (or amazing) Monster Hunter story: My sister in-law (a relative non-gamer) went from playing Animal Crossing as her only Wii game, to joining us in Monster Hunter Tri online all the way through the Alatreon. From casual title to hardcore in a blink.

So for those that think the game is too tough for them, don't puss out.

Looking back on it, I am utterly ashamed that I missed out on Tri when it first came out. I love loot games but never really saw the MH games as loot games, since they are not loot games at heart, they are something much more. Plus hunting a monster and using his head as a hat is awesome!

If they announce a new MH game not a G port or HD port, I might have to start writing them again. :D Though if MHP3rd makes it to US/EU shores, I will be picking up a PS3 end of the year for it.

If Vita gets a new game it is likely water combat would likely be added. As it stands now though the rumored release for Vita at launch is just another barebones port to leech off the launch window and the insanity it causes in peoples spending habits

chartz numbers don't really count. Saying it sold almost as much as it did in Japan is ridiculous.

Its a good thing its not charts numbers then right?

Anyway, like I said 1.8m shipped, damn near a million outside of Japan, and that was over a year ago, and it has gotten another 100k shipment since then. Whatever your problem is with that, feel free to take it up with Capcom themselves, but dont go bolding your text calling it bullshit.

Underwater content aside, what's the difference between MH3G and MHP3rd?

-They are based on MH3 (stuff like hitboxes)
-Both have all weapon classes
-Both have new weapon attacks
-Both have new subspecies and attack patterns
-Both have MH3 maps + new ones
-Both have old gen monsters
-Both have new monsters

The only difference I see is the village and how the farm/kitchen/companion works.
edit: and a slightly different assortment of early gen monsters

The difference is that Portable 3rd had new content over Tri while omitting some things like the underwater combat, customisable bowguns, the cha cha, and such, and Tri G has new content over Tri without omitting anything. Perhaps some similar differences to the bowguns will be used for the returning to Tri G weapons too. Still, the big one is that Portable 3rd is a year old, while Tri G is upcoming, and thus represents the latest new content for the series until further notice.

What we know MH3G[3DS] will have that MHP3[PSP] doesn't - underwater combat

Everything else is a mistery. There are other differences like bowguns (more customization on MH3[Wii], simplified on MHP3rd[PSP] although it adds more attacks), Companions (simplified on MH3[Wii], better on MHP3rd[PSP]) and so on... if you go into detail you can find plenty of differences. But nothing major

Will MH3G have the same weapon mechanics as MHP3rd or MH3? Will it have less/more piscine/early gen/new monsters than MHP3rd? No one knows for sure

So is transferring certainly not in? I know that transferring from Portable 3rd is a given but what about the Wii?

We don't know yet, almost everything is up in the air at this point.

Edit: And also, the Capcom million seller titles url http://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/business/million.html, Mh Tri is number 21.

God that's a depressing list to look at, seeing DMC4 at no. 10 and then what they decided to do with the series, Dino Crisis at no. 11 and how they messed that one up within 2 sequels and Onimusha at no. 16, 19 and 29 and how they've put that franchise on ice permanently it seems. Why must you break my heart Capcom?

Also..(posted already, but still)

They're totally different games. They aren't related in any way.

Yeah, we don't know a lot at this point. What 3G has is a new flagship monster, and an underwater variant of a first generation monster (new monster -> new weapons and armor). And a new town, and a new companion. And those are the only confirmed new things I know of.

I hate when people post this kind of shit during normal discussion.
It's even worse when one posts a shitty meme such as "U Mad?" and "Problem?". Thankfully no one in this topic has stoop that low... yet.

As for weapons, a topic always on MH fans' minds whenever a new game's announced? "There will be 12 types," Fujioka said, "filling out the set of genres we've introduced up to this point. All of the weapons will be operable in the underwater areas, too. The bowgun in Tri had a lot of customization skills, but that weapon's going to be streamlined a bit and divided into 'light' and 'heavy' categories. The bowgun has a lot of new features nonetheless, though, so I'm hoping bowgun users run it up to the G level and get to check all of it out."

Boo at the simplified bowgun system.

I guess it's possible you could transfer your Tri save to an SD card so the 3DS could read it.

Also couldn't you transfer Tri character data to the memory on the Wiimote? I know that was via Bluetooth, but I don't see why it's not possible via wireless if you are able to transfer stuff like DS demos from the Nintendo channel to a DS/3DS.

Does that mean bowguns are no longer assembled from different parts or simply that there's no "medium" variant, but you still can assemble them with the parts you want?

Does anyone have an answer to the following:

Will there be wifi multiplayer as with Tri on the Wii?

I will be incredibly dissapointed if local wireless is the only option for multiplayer. If it does, I shall personally open up line of credit with pre-authorized payment to Capcom.

You know it's neat that they're making a Brute Wyvern the title monster. Hopefully it's a reflection of the game. Having a lot of aggressive monsters would be fun.

But MH is already full of aggressive monsters :x

It is still unclear, as far as I know.

You would not be the only one being disappointed, me included.

Yeah but Brute Wyverns are assholes. I want more asshole monsters. Not cheap monsters, asshole monsters.
Well, it's possible that since the engine does the pixel-mapped hitboxes these days, Plesioth will get downgraded to asshole-class.

...they're going to find a way to make him just as evil as he was in MH1, aren't they?

No confirmation at the moment.

At the moment none of the portable Monster Hunter games has been online, only the console versions (though PSP version was online through Ad-Hoc Party on PS3).

But still; guess more details will be revealed..soon.

Hopefully. I just really want to fight it underwater. That thing looks like it could move elegantly underwater. Don't fail us Capcom!

Am I right that there aren't any direct feed screenshots of this game yet? So that image in the 1up article is just from tri on wii.

I imagine that the Famitsu images will be posted on their own website in a week's time, if not sooner. If not, then we're sure to get some when Nintendo's conference rolls around.

My guess is that MH3G and MHP3rd with have the same weapon mechanics - nerfed lance, agressive gunlance, improved bow, tweaked hunting horn, and so on
