Monster Hunter XX Demo coming August 10th

Honestly...it looks good for what it is (a 3DS hd game)

Agreed. They've done a good job "remastering" the game. To expect a huge amount more than this is silly in my view - that would require them to basically remake the entire game from the ground up which wouldn't be worth it.

Remember, this is all a test. If it sells well then Capcom MIGHT make a proper new MH game for Switch. Maybe. If we're VERY good boys and girls and eat our vegetables.

Thanks for the screens - games looks pretty considering its based on a 3DS game and Capcom only had a couple months to get it on Switch. Something between this and MHW is probably what we can expect for the next Switch MH and that would be pretty great on a portable.

Resolution of the 3DS was my main issue with the games...better graphics are always good but the resolution is the real game changer.

Is there a chart like guide for weapons that I can print out and check while playing ? People have pointed out some imgur links but they are all multi page , what I am looking for is small one page per weapon type of guides.

The online manual for MH Generations has flow charts showing the possible combos for each weapon and style. Obviously the two new styles in MHXX are not included and some of the old styles have been slightly adjusted from the base game (aerial charge blade and adept great sword to name two).

Dumb question, how easy/difficult is it to purchase something from the JP eshop with a European credit card? Don't need a JP billing address? Was going to import a physical copy.

They just added Paypal as an option so that may be easier, but it doesn't allow non-Japanese credit cards from what I understand. Amazon.co.jp sells digital eshop cards with no markup, so I bought 5000 and 1000 yen points cards from them to cover it.

Hmm, so I have these sites bookmarked plus some other resources I saw earlier:

Poogie Translate: http://mhapi.info/translate/

And this import guide by RedmondStache: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16lcEdhM9b0

Is there anything else that I should checkout/bookmark?

also is anyone here making an import OT?

Ping's dex, probably the best tool, have to download it though.

Quick Q, does the Japanese eshop charge tax? And if not then do site like Amazon.co.jp email you the codes when you order eshop cards or do they ship you a physical card?

DOWNLOAD CHUUUUU DESU

Why is eShop so slow and lacks like all the necessary features of a digital store? Get your shit together, Nintendo.

I think they have both? The ones you're looking for are ones labeled オンラインコード. They also have download codes for the game itself.

Neither my debit/credit cards work and paypal cant be linked to a foreign nintendo account. This is bs and a huge step back from 3DS. Not only that but no error message is given for the card method, it just refreshes.

Yea same happened to me. I just decided to bite the bullet and buy a 5k+1k card from playasia. Ended up being 61.98 so not super terrible. Still overpaying like 7$ but its whatever

I'm staying strong with this, going to give it until like November to see if they announce localization. If not, I'll probably buy it digitally on the JP store.

You have to upload your 3ds save to capcoms server then download them on the switch. Transferring my save right now.

Do you recomend this game to someone that never played the saga because of being portable?

Really liked what i've played, it's very focused on gameplay and that is a +1 for me.

The only 2 probleas are that this game is in japanese, and next week launches Mario+Rabbids.

Decisions decisions...hmmmm

Enough people seem to be importing this. Will there be an OT I can share my struggles in because of my non-existent Japanese knowledge? Lol.

Beats mentioned on discord he was going to make one later if no one makes one by then. Otherwise, he also posted some useful translation tools above:

Bought the digital download code from amazon.co.jp and switched my Nintendo Account country over to Japan.. ready to download when I get home from work! I feel like I've played enough Monster Hunter that I should be able to struggle through the Japanese but I guess we'll see.

With a guide it honestly isn't that bad. I imported 4 when it first came out and didn't have much trouble. I am downloading now and can't wait to jump in!

When I try to go do the same on Amazon.jp, it gives me a "product is geographically restricted" error message.

How did you get around that? I was going to go digital, but just needed a means to do it (and hopefully, as cheap as possible).
