OMG, nice!! Haven't played anything but the first POP:SOT, so would look forward to playing the others. Would the Mortal Kombat by the rumored "remastered" version though? Seems that's the only way they could really do HD (of course, I have no idea what the image quality of the original images for the actors in the games was and if they would hold up to HD resolution for a remaster).

Some of the things done in some of these releases couldn't be done through emulation, like proper widescreen, updated textures, 3D. Realistic alternative to this would be to play the games in their native resolution , which is a much worse alternative than what these offer.

I mean running in PS3-native compiled code as opposed to emulation (though I'm not sure we're certain all of these aren't running on some kind of optimized emulation, but you know what I mean). FF12 is better than FFVIII anyway, and arguably better than FFVII as well.

It had something but hopefully this collection is based on PC/Xbox version, you don't want PS2 version of any Splinter Cell game. If they include online multiplayer in this collection it would be awesome because since they pulled the plug on LIVE for original xbox the only way to play Spy vs Mercs is on PC which is not really active.

I get the exact same impression. Chances of PS4 being backwards compatible are ridiculously small if you think about. Still, Ico and SotC on PS3 make the world a better place compared to having them only on PS2, or imperfect pc emulator.

No doubt that the way it is currently done has its advantages for us gamers. I however doubt if it would have happened if BC was fully supported on all sku's and PS2 games were distributed via PSN.


Not saying that I won't be buying Ico and SotC again though.
