More important to you, Portability or Graphics?

Portability. I'm a father who works full time, I don't feel like sitting in front of my computer at night and my wife watches TV.

I don't really play games that rely on a lot of spectacle, so portability wins for me. My graphical needs are modest and I love playing in bed and in my office late at night.

Portability.

I find that a lot of games that I want to play these days are not necessarily the best lookers on the market. Even if they are astounding visually, I'm willing to put up with some sacrifices in order for it to be on the go.

The reality is, as I get older, the opportunities that have been available to me to game comfortably have become less and less. Just having the chance to take something on the go has substantially helped improve the opportunities and chances I have to play games.

What's more, a lot of the games that I still love to play - a combination of JRPGs, WRPGs, and short, burst-like game sessions with multiplayer titles like Splatoon and Arms - fit the nature of the portable console.

It's why the Switch remains such a powerhouse console for me and my personal gaming habits.

Graphics. The only time I like portability with my Switch is when I can play on my couch in my living room. Other than that, the thing isn't leaving the house. I use my 3DS in the same way.

Portability for me, but I did not feel that way before the Switch. Prior to now I always preferred a traditional console.

I don't care for portability at all. I have used my Switch a grand total of 1x undocked. I am never buying a game on the switch that I can get cheaper/at a higher fidelity/higher performance on PC or PS4. To me Doom doesn't feel much different than something like Mass Effect 3 for the WiiU. I could have gotten this game for a fraction of the price at a much higher fidelity multiple times for the last year or so. I didn't buy the system for these games. I bought it for the games that typically appeared on Nintendo handhelds and nowhere else along with Nintendo's first party.

I am still activity gaming only because of portability.
Graphics is not so important but it has to reach a certain minimum level. Vita is a fine balance for me, too bad everyone hated it lol.

If I'm not behind a TV or Computer screen then I am 99% most likely interacting with the world around me instead.
Let's face it, there is not much to interact with in a typical communte or in the toliet... right?

Portability. It's a true game changer for me, the Switch is slowly changing a 30 years old habit of standing in front of a TV, something i couldn't believe would happen. It's not even remotely comparabile to the superficial and shallow graphics part, although of course I love when a game looks great but my pc is more than capable of scratching that itch and destroy these mighty consoles

While this is true, I find that the factor that will sway you towards portability will also depend on the other things that you do during your 'regular life' that are otherwise vapid chores.

e.g. Doing laundry, being on the commute, or having a job that involves long hours and travel.

There are a lot of ways to exploit the fact that playing on the Switch is interruptible in a fashion that is also amenable to how you want to spend your time playing games. Have a chore that involves going out of the house and it's a bus-ride away? Pull the Switch out, take it with you and have it on the go. It's just such a handy and neat way to be able to play games when I am literally always having to be somewhere else and it takes time to get somewhere else.

Neither really. The games library, gameplay, and performance are all king. I'll take a slight hit in graphic and portability is a novelty that dries up fast or extremely specific.

If I commuted to work like I used to, portability becomes important. So... top of the line graphics is dead last. It's good if it's there, if not... meh.. don't care.

In this day in age i would consider graphics over portability anytime but back in the gameboy advance/psp/nintendo DS era i wouldve considered portability. Its just something with the switch/3ds that doesnt resonate with me.

Graphics for me. If I go out it's either to work or do something fun that isn't play games. I do plenty of that with most of my free time at home on my desktop, plus I have a phone for mobile apps so portability isn't a game changer for me. Would still like to get my hands on a Switch, but I'm in no rush since the portability aspect isn't what's selling me on the device, although the option is nice. If the question is, would I personally sacrifice visual fidelity for a portable option, my answer would be no.
