Mortal Kombat 8 REVEALED IN ALL ITS GLOR...wait, what is this?

What I can't wait for is the inevitable Comic miniseries.
Earth 53- Where the Mortal Kombat characters live.
 
This strikes me as ridiculous as Marvel VS Capcom did. So I don't get what all the fuss is about really. It might turn out good. Wait and see I always say.
 
this is awesome... too bad its called Mortal Kombat though.

This game will rock so hard... batman is going to be a scorpion clone!

Street Fighter Capcom never produced anything that sucked on the level of MK in the last 5 years. No good can come of this.

And for anyone defending the most recent MK games, Why? Mortal Kombat really is the last bad fighting game. Screw the reviews, all these places are known for fanboyism when it comes to certain series.

Remember Marvel vs Capcom, Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter ?

There were jokes about DC vs MK at that time if I remember right.


I won't belive for one second that was an idea for MK8 from the start.

I remember Boon saying about completely revamping MK. There was supposed to be major kill off in the rooster, like only few or even no old characters would return. etc.

Now how can they bouild a mk character rooster without bringing back the old cast? Subs looks basicly unchanged :lol.

MK was loosing popularity for some time now. Boon didn't get much financial support for mk8 project from Midway. Midway itself needs a boost. So what they do? They sign a deal with DC. Boon gets the money as well as order to completely change the games direction.

That's imo how it happened.

I'll reserve judgement on the game until I see more.

PG13 makes me grind my teeth, thou.

Who knows, could be actually good?

don't know if this been mentioned, but I heard rumor that fatalities are out the window, because DC doesn't want Supy and Batman dead. They had no problems killing em in the comics, but in a videogame it's a problem. ANyway, anyone know whether this is true?

The rumor has been posted like in every page ("T-rateen-wat?:O!") ..
Then Kotaku posted that same rumor..

Confirmations, pictures, trailers, hands-on impressions will be on April 18 at around 6PM..
 
My point was that giving the benefit of the doubt to a company like Capcom as opposed to Midway is wrong when people are complaining about this on conceptual basis. (i.e "MK VS DC??! What are they thinking?!")


PS:If you must know (although that wasn't my point at all) I think Capcom are one of the most overrated developers out there. After years and years of game developing they still haven't evolved. Sure, they get the gameplay right most of the time but everything else....

they arent overrated... but for the most part they deliver quality. Im one of the few people in this thread that legitimately thinks this game has a chance. I had already grown tired of fatalities after MKII anyways.

Everything is the most overrated everything on GAF. They get the gameplay right, but "everything else" wtf is everything else and why does it matter? Here I thought gameplay came first. And is midway somehow better?

I'm saying the MK have for the most part been fun games, if shallow much like a lot of Capcom's games. I can honestly say I didn't have more fun with the Capcom beat'em'ups than I did with the MK ones.

And "everything else" is very important. Gameplay is second to it's context, in my opinion. DMC3, RE4 and God Hand all have good gameplay but their worlds, stories, dialogue, etc are all cliché and cheesy for the most part. This isn't a problem exclusive to Capcom by any stretch of the imagination. I was merely stating how Capcom hasn't got my seal of approval/belief like somekind of Midas touch. But this was a slight off topic. My point is that I wouldn't immediately think MK VS DC would be a better game if were to be done by Capcom as opposed to Midway.
 
Wait, so why does the "vs. DC" actually make this likely to be worse? Was anyone here saying that actually expecting it to be good in the first place?
 
I actually would like to see if they put Catwoman as a character. That'd be pretty damn cool. Or any of the other Batman villians. Hell. Let's just toss in an Alien and Pred for shits and giggles since they've been up against Batman.

Heh, well at least Yoda and Darth Vader are only two characters that you do not have to choose. How would you like it if SC4 featured half the fighters from the series that we know and love and half from the Star Wars Universe? Hopefully, this better than the regurgitation that is Rise of the Imperfects.
