They're probably just evil at some point during the story, old Liu Kang does not appear to be evil so eventually he turns good again. Still, it's an interesting storyline. But I'm happy he doesn't end up evil permanently.

I remember once the rule was that the MK Champion didn't age unless beaten at a tournament... guess they forgot about that.

Then spans 25 years were some of the souls are freed and either turn good again, go their own way or stay evil.

Is why Kung Lao is younger/evil first, then older/neutral. And Liu Kang has different looks.

Up until Deadly Alliance, after the main character role was spread out to other characters.


Seems that with the reboot they are trying to build up Raiden as the main character, or at least that's what it looks to me.

He was, but then Boon's bias towards Scorpion took over and Liu lost his status as the protagonist.

I thought that Netherrealm would stay their hand with showing Liu Kang before the release, but I thought wrong.

I like the look of him; the long gray hair is a nice new aesthetic for the character of Liu Kang to have. I imagine based on the events of MK9 he's turned into a cynical protector of earth; choosing not to follow Raiden and instead do his own thing. 'Guess we'll see in a couple weeks.

Personally the only two additions i want are the cyborg ninjas and Jade. Another new character or two would not have hurt either. My bother is going to flop his top when he see's there is no Noob though.

I'm also sure this is not the complete roster. There must be atleast one unlockable character they are hiding away.

Fair enough, the more (unique) fighers in a fighting game the better so yeah i cant dispute any of those (good) choices.

I'm also hoping we get some more characters after the kombat pass or as free unlockables/dlc.

Gotta feel kinda bad for Ed Boon, he's always made a big deal about surprising people and having all these leaks must really be bumming him out. At least everything about the game so far is looking pretty damn great.
