Most Hated People In Gaming Industry

Surprised nobody mentioned Itagaki.

Then again, it seems half adore him, half despise him.

He knows how to ruffle some feathers, regardless.
 
There's Tretton, Kutaragi, Marcus.
Tretton for being an idiotic bigmouth. Good businessman, just can't keep his mouth shut. If it wasn't him, then his scriptwriters/PR personnel are to blame
Kutaragi for almost destroying the PS brand.
Marcus, because who the hell thought this would be a good plan? The kid had better been paid a ton.

Pretty much this. I may despise a few peeps for some reason regarding their views/comments/etc on the industry, but hate? That's a big word, in my opinion.

An exception would be Tim Langdell, I guess.

The only people on earth who have any idea who you're talking about are the type of people who come to GAF in the first place, who are not only a very small minority but also like to find things to hate all the time for the smallest of reasons.
 
Not going to be a popular opinion but at this point I kind of hate Kevin Butler (Yes I know he's an actor). I dont hate the character as such but more the fact that people on Gaf make a thread for every single advert that gets released and then proceed to fap hard whilst telling everyone how much they love the guy.
 
I dont hate any of them, but I'm very tired of Jonathan Blow's pseudo-intellectual rants about game design and his arrogant attitude towards any game that does not conform to his art wank vision of what games should be.

But I dont really blame him for that, so much as I blame people giving him their undivided attention. He has many good things to say and great ideas, but he's made one game. He's not the gospel of truth on game design and the industry, and I wish people would stop treating him as such.
 
I'm not fond of Jonathan Blow either. I love Braid but the story was pretentious and quite annoying.
 
I don't understand the Mattrick hate. He seems like a nice enough guy.

But I don't really hate anyone in the industry. There might be people that rub me the wrong way at times, but I bet they're all just trying to make do given their lot in life. No hard feelings from me there.

I'm not even critiquing his skills as a designer. Braid had problems, but I still loved it, and I really enjoyed the story and how it was presented. I do think it is one of the better indy titles in a long while, and he deserves the appropriate praise for what he's accomplished.

I just hate how every since Braid so many are eager to slob his knob and listen in awe as he preaches on the pedestal they've put him on, when most of his preaching consists no more of bitching about how terrible the industry is, how shallow games are, rarr rarr rarr.

Blow has plenty to say, but its all hot air. People need to stop giving him undue attention so he'll shut up and send the message he wants to send through the games he makes, rather than his inflated ego rants.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is I dont hate Blow, I think he's a good designer, but I'm sick of hearing about him, and I'm tired of the worship he gets for one game.

I'm still baffled how he's still even listened to as a gaming commentator. He has no credentials at all, and makes guesses, not estimates. Gametrailers giving him a bigger platform to speak on didn't help either.

I hate both. His schtick is beyond old. He could vomit on a ps3 for 30 seconds and GAF would think it's comedy gold.
 
I dislike Kotick's approach, but it's not like I have any reason to hate him. I reserve hate for people who really deserve it, not those who run a business in a way that I don't agree with.

Uninformed game journalists / producers, xbox/psn users with marijuana references in their names, racists in my multiplayer games, and some game testers telling me what to do.

Why the Garnett hate? That guy loves games and will give his honest impressions on them. I have heard nothing but great things about him IRL.
 
The real problem is people investing too much of their emotions into games thinking it'll change something when they fail to realize video games are a business.

Kotick, I don't like, but tbh so long as he doesn't touch Blizzard games I don't care that everything he touches turns into fool's gold.

And Tanaka for fucking up FFXIV, what was my most anticipated game of this year and he game that turned me to WoW. So bad it made me not go back to FFXI because I don't want to support SE after that.

I'm kinda surprised I'm going to be the first person to post this, but here goes.

Yeah, I went there.

I don't really know why, either. Perhaps it's his smarmy demeanor at recent E3 conferences where he's all "we must expand the market!" and "we are bringing gaming to non-gamers!" like he's doing some sort of public service when everyone knows he really means "we are making these casual games to sell for the specific reason of becoming rich as FUCK." But then Nintendo shows off the new Zelda/Mario/Metroid whatever and everybody is happy again.

That kind of extends to Reggie too. Maybe it's just his overly happy, seemingly ego-less demeanor, as I like my gaming talking heads to exhibit some sort of swagger. Maybe it's the fact that he begins his answer to every question he's ever asked with "You know, it's interesting...".

That doesn't include Miyamoto though.

I loved Peter Moore / J Allard when they were head of the Xbox Division, can't stand Mattrick. How does that translate to hatred of MS?

Mattrick is simply taking the Xbox division in a direction that I don't want it to go and he's not a good public speaker.
