Most overpowered Multiplayer weapon?

The Farsight is just ludicrous.

Like seriously who approved that shit. The very concept of the Farsight is broken.

Also the retro lancer from gears of war 3 and judgment

I used to think sawed off but if you're that close a gnasher could destroy you too

MP40 in World at War. I remember being able to complete the challenges for using that gun, without even needing to make a class for it because you could just pick one up when you killed someone because EVERYONE seemed to use it.

Every time I see somebody name a Pyro weapon, part of me dies inside. It's like that time where pub players whined about the Axtinguisher even though the Powerjack was by and far the most used melee in higher levels of play, so they nerfed it and now Powerjack is used exclusively.

I've come to grips with the fact that, contrary to their stated desires, nobody wants Pyro to be useful for anything but guarding Engineers (the Reserve Shooter is banned in UGC for fuck's sake), but people need to at least complain about the right weapons. Degreaser is universally regarded as the best flamethrower. Backburner is useful in only a fraction of situations.

I used to dominate with the Axtinguisher/Degreaser combo and when they nerfed it, I pretty much lost all interest in the game.

Props to Insomniac for limiting the usability of the Auger in the Resistance franchise MP,

Imagine having free reign of a gun that sees enemies through walls and shoots through cover

You don't have to imagine. Just play Perfect Dark. And then give it auto aim.

Okay now you're getting out of hand, accusing people of being poor players because they find a certain gun overpowered.

One man's Thorn is another man's Last Word, Hawkmoon, etc, etc.

Please stop insulting people while forcing your opinions on them.

No...I have not insulted anyone personally.

They said Thorn is a 2 shot kill (same as all other exotics lol)

They say Thorn has low recoil (very high)

They say I am making it up (I give recoil numbers)

They ask me to name a better low recoil hand gun (Word of Crota is 2/3 of Thorn)

Its not my opinion, its fact. If people cannot read a spreadsheet on damage numbers and recoil values, and don't know them by being a long time player.....then maybe we cannot go by their experience.

Heck if you are a seasoned crucible player you would know damage numbers off your head by seeing them pop up when you get 30-40 kills per game.

But they don't even know bullets to kill. I have all my characters to Mercury, even helped my 12 year old son and he has all 3 to Mercury as well. You know what, maybe I could be right ?

I stand by what I have said - Destiny has recently given massive rewards to players who can go 9-0 in Crucible - It has brought out the bad in players who have been frustrated they cannot do it, from raging, to asking to be carried to asking for gun nerfs.

There is a reason why this thread popped up a week into trials...be honest.

The LAARK in Resistance 1. Guaranteed kills with it every time just cuz you can shoot at the ground and turn it into a swarm of homing rockets.

Gears of War Shotgun which I'm sure has been said to death

Or I'd say the Rocket Launcher in UT/IQuake. Yes it needs to be mastered, but once it is it's a one shot kill death machine haha

Kurosawa was banned in Versus with my family. The saved game we used for fighting each other had every single part unlocked except it lol.

Finger for whatever reason was okay. I don't think anyone every used it or realized how insane it was up close. The only other banned weapon was that super slow moving homing nuke in the first AC games.

I used to make my friend literally run out of ammo with the Karasawa rifle back in project phantasma. All Id run with is a blade. Man that used to piss him off to no ends. lol.

Since it was beam based, the hit detection had to be pretty precise which allowed you to dodge it. Unlike in later games where the beams got more wide or caused a massive blast radius. Still think the most powerful version was the Project Phantasma one on the PS1.

The "zeong hands" were not that bad since those things had so little ammo and your opponent had to get pretty close to you to use em :D

In my 20 years of gaming there are certain weapons that have stood out to me as way over powered but I've always had a tough time picking out the most over powered of them all.

Well thanks to Destiny the title of the Most overpowered weapon of all time goes to The Thorn: It kills with two shots no matter how high your defense is and even the first shot it'll leave a poison effect on you dealing even more damage. I've never come anything across it before.

That's my opinion, what's yours?
Don't have a problem with Thorn but that Joldens Hammer is way OP imo.

Its the (I get shot by a gun allot because I cant strafe so nerf it) brigade.

People spouting nonsense just because they are poor players.
Wow, your Destiny stats aren't anything special so don't act like you're some pro player who needs to put people on their place. You're just a Thorn user yourself if your Bungie profile (and last used class) is anything to go by. I normally don't check people stats as I respect their privacy but you shouldn't act that high and mighty when other people have another opinion than you. Just be honest with us and tell us you don't want to get the Thorn to get a nerf because its your primary of choice and we'll respect your opinion, you seem salty as hell.

I carry my 12 year old son (we have 2 Ps4's) and play in a clan where they lucky to get 10 kills in IB.

I got to mercury no problem mate, only 4 times so far though (we went 9-1 twice first week, damn lag switchers). When I don't play with people who go 3-15 and play in a 3 man team that can play my KD is around 5. Flawless last weekend.

Stats don't tell you everything in Iron banner or crucible, we often carry 3 or 4 clan players who mainly only raid......so its harder work in IB than Trials (You can tell at the start of a match when you are the only player contesting B lol). When I can team up with 2 other players for trials who can play crucible....its a different story.

See you in Mercury this weekend.
I don't have a hawkmoon, so I use Thorn and last word. If the map is close I use last word, medium I use thorn, if I had hawkmoon would use that for long.

I tried to carry allot of people through trials last weekend who don't really play crucible who just wanted the armour, god it was painful. KD does not tell how much you try and help others. The nerf this and than and all the moaners is so common now with trials its intoxicating.

I tried to help 7 other teams through last weekend, got crucified as when I got first kill they could not follow up. A decent team means allot. No I am not pro enough to carry 2 other players through trials, not even close. I am good enough that with 2 other good players we can do it no sweat. But I like to help others in the clan.

I am not salty, got etheric light plenty thanks and my adept guns, its the moaning since the start of trials that is getting out of hand. It really is.

I used to play Ghosts in a dedicated clan all of good KD > 2 players, and we won platinum every time. The team makes a big difference, for Trials you only need to find 2 decent players.

You don't need to prove your skills to me or give me any explanation as why your stats aren't anything special, also I won't be playing any ToO games anytime soon as I have the stuff that I wanted already. The thing we're trying to tell you is that you shouldn't make assumptions about people's skill if they don't agree with your opninion, it's childish behaviour. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and I admire your willingness to help others which is a very good thing but the "you just don't know how to play" mentality is plain bad.

My KD is 1.5 average In the clan of PVE players, in trials I always go > 2 as its easier with 2 others that play crucible. I play coop with my young son, and joined that Clan as they are kid friendly, and more importantly fun people. There is even an aunt (who often cant buy 5 kills in crucible lol).

Whats your stats and PSN then.

And no I am stating facts about the guns from the dB database spreadsheet. Its not an opinion. I don't see why that's hard to understand.

I play Destiny for Fun with my son, I used to play more competitive COD but that was not kid inclusive so I have more fun in destiny. My son asked me to play with him rather than the COD scene...

My enjoyment is getting my son to Mercury every weekend at least once, hopefully 3 times. He goes nuts.

The problem is that if they nerf Thorn, it's back to being thrown in the vault again. It's such a fine line, and in all reality TLW is even more ridiculous.

The real Gears of War answer is not the Retro Lancer. No pros use it. It's the Lancer with its mile-long magazine and and high damage when active reloaded. If anyone says the sawed-off that's basically 'git gud' and if you say the Gnasher you misunderstand the fundamental aspect of Gears multiplayer that made it so good.

True.

Word of Crota is a Thorn without the poison, but has better stability allowing even faster fire rate, and it has better range.

Nerf the thorn and there is no point using it, would roll with TLW and spear (and then TLW would start getting the hate)

Like others have said, if they are to nerf Thorn they're going to have to nerf ALL the exotic hand cannons. Maybe nerf Thorn in ways other than damage--decrease its range, decrease its aim-assist, decrease stability. Similar nerf(s) to the other hand cannons as well.

Sawed off Shotgun and Retro lancer were a cancer on Gears 3 otherwise stellar MP

The thorn's DoT is the main issue here. Rolling back its range and stability could help make the DoT less OP, but that is the main reason its annoying.

At least with TLW you need to have good aim and be up close for it to really shine. And at those ranges fucking felwinters just oneshot you anyway.

LOL. I've yet to take part in the trials though. This all purely from playing Destiny Crucible the last few months, but go ahead. Keep doing what you're doing.

Socom 2 - IW-80-A2
This gun had the most damage in its class you could put a silencer on it plus it had great accuracy

My hatred for the I-Dub knows no bounds. From rate of fire to power to accuracy, it was way too good compared to everything else - especially considering the terrorists side had nothing even remotely close to an answer to it.

However, I do have to remind you that you could not put a silencer on the I-Dub until SOCOM III - a game in which the I-Dub was a shell of its former self (which was fine by me lol).

Going off our groups personal experiences I would say either lightning bolt arrows in Towerfall (switch them off!) or the lock on missile in Red Dog (also possible to turn off, thankfully)

Most of my friends thought the red extending pole in Power Stone 2 (affectionately known as the 'cheat stick') was too good but I don't agree.

The ESUS Blackfly from Turok 2008

Was a remote detonator weapon, however the ease of use turned it into a regular weapon.
Since it had a large splash zone, and was a one hit kill. So many of my kills when going for the achievements in MP were from this.

Thorn Problem is not part of Thorn but another thing:

When the poisoning effect is paired with connection issues (read: ping), the OP effect is absolutely present.

If therr were no serious unbalances regarding connections, Thorn would be seen in different light.

The M6D in Halo was a little overpowered. Seven shots of automatic took down an opponent and it had a scope on top of that. Decent rate of fire, good accuracy, heavy damage.

The FG 42 in World at War was pretty damn good. While perhaps not overpowered itself, the fact that it was a pre-order bonus meant that many people had access to it at low levels, which made it proportionally overpowered.

The AK-47 in Modern Warfare 2 was pretty silly. The bullets did a great deal of damage and the weapon was just inaccurate enough so that you didn't quite have to aim (simply point it in the general direction and squeeze). Match after match I'd rake in the Spectres due to this weapon. Unlocked the "Angel of Death" emblem immediately after obtaining the AK.

I doubt Armored Core had much of a multiplayer following during the PS1 era. If it did, I'm sure these were banned.

Man, the KARASAWA is old-school. One of the strongest weapons in the whole Armored Core series.

Pre-patch, it was like a sniper rifle.
Model_1887_Akimbo_MW2.png

I remember those. First time I saw someone dualing them, he was racking up the kills. I took him out and claimed his 1886s as my own. I then proceeded to exceed his kill-count. He was furious!
:)

I'm surprised that nobody got my joke, given that a replica of this controller (both the grey and orange variants) are select-able weapons in Splatoon.
Now that I think about it, the Nintendo Scope is hugely overpowered... for real IR battles.

I had an IR pistol and a target to play lasergame at home when I was a kid. Really fun. Once, I decided to try to fire towards the target with the superscope. Curiously, it registered... But I quicly discovered that it was registering even if you were shouting several meters away from the target. A real (light)bazooka. ^_^

Meh. I handle Thorn users just fine with a Vision of Confluence. Hawkmoon though... God, that thing is OP.

Another OP MP weapon is the Saw from Halo 4.

Then we have the BFG in vanilla Quake 3 Arena. Absolutely stupid weapon.
