Most overpowered Multiplayer weapon?

In my 20 years of gaming there are certain weapons that have stood out to me as way over powered but I've always had a tough time picking out the most over powered of them all.

Well thanks to Destiny the title of the Most overpowered weapon of all time goes to The Thorn: It kills with two shots no matter how high your defense is and even the first shot it'll leave a poison effect on you dealing even more damage. I've never come anything across it before.

That's my opinion, what's yours?

Pokemon R/B/Y: Mewtwo (highest stats in the game, good move pool)
Pokemon OR/AS: Mega Rayquaza (ties for highest stats in the game without any of the nerfs the Mega Mewtwos it ties with get. Literally got banned from Ubers)

Yup. Thing needs to be nerfed. PvP is pretty much unplayable atm when 90% of players are running around with it. But Thorn is only the start of the many issues with Destiny PvP.

This is the biggest factor in keeping me out of PvP. Until the Thorn gets nerfed I only go there for easy bounties now, it's ridiculous how unbalanced some of the weapons in Destiny are.

I don't know what that is.

Why people, why? Why do you do this? edit: Well, you're good after the edit anyway.

The redeemer was basically a portable nuke gun that you could control the nuke after you shoot it and guide it where you want it to go. boom, everything near it dies instantly.

The Barman Shanker

Before weapon speed normalization this would just about one shot average geared cloth wearers in WoW PvP. It was stronger than most raid daggers for a while.

That's hilarious, because as someone who's been playing Iron Banner in Destiny this week, when I saw the thread title I immediately thought "Any of the Exotic hand cannons in Destiny, especially Thorn". Literally whole teams using nothing but the Exotic hand cannons.

I enjoyed opening the thread and seeing that as the OP. Right now there's legitimately no point in using any other primary weapon in the game. They have the fastest TTK and incredible range, coupled with extremely generous aim-assist and a short time to reacquire stability. I'm hoping/praying for another slight nerf to the Exotic hand cannons and a re-buff to correct the over neutering of the auto rifles. In my opinion, the best way to make the hand cannons more balanced and make them into the close range archetype that they should be would be to slow their rate of fire down across the board. That's their biggest problem at the moment I feel, that they can shoot too accurately, too quickly, at too far of a range.

I don't know what that is.

Its basically a remote controlled mini-nuke. It could be shot down in mid air, but if you hit that thing on target the amount of kills you can rack up is pretty hilarious. That and if someone doesnt cap your ass while you are controlling it.

OP: I slaughter Thorn users with Hawkmoon all day long. Sometimes the two lucky shot perks stack and I take dudes with full health and shield down in ONE shot.

I can survive two headshots with a full armor/agility Striker build easily. I just run the second my screen turns green.

Hawkmoon > Thorn

Its just considerably rarer. That's why you don't get slaughtered by them more often.

Thorn is OP now? When I played the game it was considered a joke weapon and everyone was whining about shotguns and the fusion rifle that auto-fired. Vex Mythoclast was pretty OP for a time.

Damn the blue shell. That's why it's safer to be just behind the leader in second place on the final lap. Some schmuck in last place who has no chance in winning fires a blue shell that only helps the players close enough to the leader. I Hate Hate that thing.

If that's the case I should upgrade my Hawkmoon, didn't realize it was that competitive against the Thorn.

Destiny's Pocket Infinity.

With full-auto mode enabled on this thing, no way you can miss a kill at mid/short distance.

Haven't played the game since January though so maybe it's been nerfed.

I wouldn't know because I play on Xbox One but that's good to know!

They buffed it hard. Faster reload, guaranteed two shot kill if both are headshots, and insane range. Mythoclast has been nerfed from its glory days of murdering everything in its path, but it's still pretty damn good. Still the only gun I don't have even after all this time!

Yeah, I figured. I think if we're going to judge based on weapons in their prime the Vex Mythoclast is king. Straight up broken for awhile.

Hawkmoon is pretty fucking ridiculous too. Basically a pistol sniper rifle, and a better scout rifle than all the scout rifles in the game. I wish I had one as it's the only one of the three that I'm missing. The Last Word is also incredibly ridiculous within its range, having the fastest time-to-kill of the three in an optimal situation. I think all three of them need a rate of fire reduction and then they would be more acceptable. They'd still be really powerful, but only within their range. Red Death can also theoretically two shot kill people but it tends to only be good at a very specific range. The same can't really be said for the hand cannons, as they can dominate at many different ranges.

As someone who used to run with the Pocket Infinity quite a bit, it's definitely been nerfed. It used to be completely ridiculous, but they nerfed the conical spread of the fusion rifle shots across the board to make all fusion rifles less accurate at a distance and it hurt the Infinity pretty badly. Couple that with the change to the special ammunition they did in a recent patch (half special ammo on spawn, half green ammo boxes on map, 2 minute respawn time for them, half ammo dropped from a box, and players no longer drop special ammo) and the Infinity is far less powerful. It's still strong, but you have to hope you don't get sniped by one of the long range shotguns and it runs out of ammunition very quickly now.

The auto shotgun in quantum of solace made by treyarch. Completely OP and you could put a silencer on it, but it along with the cover mechanic made for some fun multiplayer.

Maybe the Retro Lancer from Gears 3. Especially after they (Quinn Del Hoyo) went out of their (his) way to buff and then lied and said they (he) didn't lol.

Then again Gears 3 wasn't a particularly well balanced game anyway.

It's ironic of Bungie

I would have bought Destiny for PvP alone if it was as balanced as Halo with pick up weapons

git gud

Rollers have a significant range problem, just shoot them in the face as they run at you.

If he gets the jump on you, then yeah you're dead. Otherwise, just back up and shoot.

I think what annoys me more (aside from the instant kill if they touch you) is it requires no skill at all.

If "noob weapon" was ever a thing, then there'd be a picture of that weapon.
