Most Powerful Player Character

Who is the most powerful character you feel you've ever played?

I think there are two ways of defining powerful. One is mechanically, as in the abilities that you have as a character. So, for example, if you put in a God Mode cheat, the game acts like you are a normal guy, but your actually indestructible. The other is narratively, where the story says you are so and so powerful. An example is Arcaeus, the God Pokemon. Narratively, it's god, but in game it's just an ordinary (if powerful) pokemon and can only learn 4 moves and can be at a type disadvantage and be defeated by a pokemon of higher levels and such.

So....

Mechanically, I think Bayonetta may be the most powerful. It doesn't show as clearly because the enemies around her are also extremely powerful and can lay down the hurt on a player that isn't using Bayo to her utmost...but when they are, Bayonetta is basically unstoppable. She can dodge any attack and not have her combo's interrupted via Dodge Offset which theoretically means no enemy can do anything against her, has a lot of crazy and strong weapons, commands a host of extremely powerful demons, can turn into a variety of animals to gain different abilities, and seems is able to navigate any kind of environment without protection. Bayonetta is one of my favorite games because playing as her, I feel more powerful than I do any other game character (When I'm doing well anyway).

Narratively...uh...nothing comes to mind, actually, strangely enough. Or rather, a few characters do, but I'm not sure which one to choose. Will edit when I think of something.

Bayonetta, Dante, and Kratos.

All 3 have literally been in and out of hell multiple times and kick gods asses all the time. Especially Kratos, he sold his soul to Ares then was killed, walked out of hell killed Ares, became the God of War. Lost his powers and was killed again but by Zeus, crawled out off hell, climbed Olympus and fell back into hell then Killed Hades, escaped one more time then went up and killed Zeus.

Easy, Laharl in Disgaea/DD2

And that's just for starters. Becomes the Demon king of demon kings eventually in the narrative, and has absurdly absurd amounts of strength when you reincarnate him enough properly mechanically.

The mayor in Simcity. I can build/destroy cities and summon natural disasters at my whim. With one click I can destroy thousands of lives.

Bayonetta punched the creator god into the sun.

That'd be narrative strength. I love bayonetta, but even Jubeleius felt like fighting a giant statue with some powers. Narrative says it's god, but she's not mechanically. Hell, Baldur was a tougher opponent.

Kratos ?
He is basically gods-slayer so god mode is nothing to Kratos

I knew this would come up, but Kratos gets his shit slapped pretty often. Narratively, atleast. Gameplaywise, on harder difficulties, Kratos gets quite restricted in how you can play him. So I feel he's only unstoppable on lower difficulties. He's not someone who is particularly powerful on either level.

It's kind of funny how the OP puts a lot of time into his/her response explaining the choice.

And then we get a bunch of one-line filler posts.

That guy from Asura's Wrath? Some crazy shit happens in that game

Asura from Asura's Wrath.

I don't even want to say why.

It's a tossup between Asura and Demi-fiend.

I thought Asura as well.

Never played the game but Im pretty sure its that Asuras Wrath guy.

Asura from that garbage game

Yeah, gonna go with Asura.

Kirby, everyone knows that pink ball can destroy planets and survive without any harm from it, yet he dies by falling apples.

Yep Asura.

Wish i didnt sell my 360 as i would of love to finish that game off. So good

Still dreaming of a PC release

Also Metal Gear Rising

On a pure power level basis:

Asura (This dude is Deus Ex Machina hacks. Nothing can beat him. The angrier he gets the stronger he gets. If you're stronger than him he literally just gets angrier until he becomes stronger than you, and repeat. Eventually he fucking kills the creator of the universe just from anger).

Well I haven't played it but there's a Mahouka Koukou No Rettousai game so I'll say Shiba Tatsuya.

Dude is practically unkillable, incredibly smart and cunning, emotionless, can eradicate and restore matter at will (even his own) and can transform any matter into pure energy.

To make it worse he has a device embedded in his head where he can offset calculations to and which automated functions including restoration.

Cole MacGrath

Sucker Punch has done a lot for this FEEL DA POWER of superhero.

Oh, that reminds me, Alex Mercer from Prototype is a good pick. A lot of people had issues with the game, but I loved how it allowed me to do basically anything I want in terms of murdering people.. He's a good candidate for both types of powerful characters.
