It's way too accurate in COD. Real AK-47s are not all that accurate because the barrel flexes too much when firing. I'd say STALKER and ARMA II have the most realistic AKs. But the AK in Battlefield 3 is quite good as well especially with sound and animation.
I have a better question. Which game does the most realistic zombie!
that's like asking which game has the most realistic dragon.
Oh I know I know!!!I have a better question. Which game does the most realistic zombie!
Hey its another old school Kotaku poster! That makes 2 Ive found in one day lol.
I never understood why games go and make .223 sound like godzilla on occasion, while the rifles that fire .308 sparrow farts. Talk about ass backwards.
Because the physics / sounds in Arma vanilla isnt all that good, hence mods fixing things up so its a bit more "authentic".
As the owner of multiple AK's, the haters are wrong. First post nails it.COD MW
That's an AK-74

I know this is completely off topic, but is there an online shooter where ammo conservation matters? I watched that youtube video and the guy made a point about in real combat running around firing fully automatic just isn't a thing and I didn't know if a game out there had tried to simulate that.

Or the overheating feel from a shitty one on your palm.Exactly. And i'm not sure a game should emulate the realism of firing a gun. Not as fun imo
i've never fired an ak in anything but semi-auto, but if memory serves this is a useful comparison as to the tone, even if it doesn't carry over the sheer loudness of firing a gun directly next to your head. no game is ever going to get gunfire sounds correct because the actual sound of gunfire is painfully loud. even with headphones on it's louder than most people will ever play their videogames. I think an ak-47 firing is supposed to be something like 150-160 decibels in volume, but I've never been stupid enough to fire one without headphones to see what that's like.
for that matter, the actual sound of cannon-fire can and will do serious damage to unprotected ears very quickly, yet somehow we are inundated with videogames where players are in near proximity to firing tanks and artillery without batting an eyelash. this is completely insane.
Yeah, but let's be honest. We don't need more muting ringing in our shooters >.>

Well it's definitely my favorite AK. That thing chops up zombies like nothing.Left 4 Dead 2, easily.

So you're telling me those videos I've seen of insurgents and rebel armies all across the world firing AK-47s on full blast while wearing sandals and without any headgear are probably near-deaf by now?
I have no Idea about the realism, but when it comes to actual fun to use in a game, then the first modern warfare, followed by Goldeneye Wii (if only for the amazing reload animation and the fire select mode)
As far as I care most games are popcorn entertainment so outside of military sims (Arma) a gun should rather have a recognizable personality than go for exact representation of the real deal.
I know, what I meant however is that in a gaming context translating the real behaviours as realistically as possible can actually feel less believable, or at the very least less enjoyable. The "real deals" do have a recognizable personality, its why folks that do know firearms get irritated by ones in games![]()
Does it sound and feel like the one you regularly fire IRL?If we can count AK-74, then MGS4 definitely.

Would this not be best answered by people who have held/used an AK-47?
