Galaxy Nexus?
You can't upgrade fast enough.
You can't upgrade fast enough.
It looks like something someone would have slaved for months to create as a custom design. Ordinarily the idea of paying $100 for an option purely to make a phone prettier would strike me as ludicrous but I'd be all over this (if I were able to upgrade before June -_-).
The Bamboo back with white front and black accents has to be the sexiest "legit" aesthetic I've ever seen in this form factor

It's a great phone for anyone, assuming you can take care of the damage and parental control issues as with any device.Looking to buy this for our 9-year-old son for his first phone. He's very comfortable using my Android phone, and I can add one to our VZW plan for $99 plus the monthly phone charge.
Any reason not to get him this?

The only reason I can think of not to is if you don't want to sign a contract. You can get the Moto G for the same price but without the 2-year agreement. The major difference is lack of LTE, so it depends how important that is to you.

Orange, black, and white accents all look great with bamboo + white front.
I'd love a bamboo Moto X, but $$$ + giving up iOS apps, I don't know... it's my favorite looking phone on the market, maybe tied with white/silver+white/gold 5S. Beautiful device. If I was looking to upgrade it would be seriously hard to pass on.
Definitely envious of those who own one (though I've never seen a Moto X in the wild).

Yeah...Uhm...Why does your 9 year old need a cell phone?

Filmic Pro, Connu, Coursera, PureShot, a few games (mostly Simogo's output)... f.lux and Zephyr for jailbreak apps. I don't really want to get into an argument for iOS vs Play apps here. Maybe soon they will be equivalent. For now my needs are met by the App Store, and that's something I'd have to sacrifice.what apps are you giving up?

See above.
I like the experience of iOS despite its walled garden. I've modified it enough w/ jailbreak apps that it works well even in native weak spots. I've used Android phones before and found them lacking (Droid Bionic, Razr Maxx); these are older phones and things have changed, but I am familiar with "larger screen sizes" and the Google ecosystem. The Moto X is appealing because it has features that seem to transcend novelty, which is a rare distinction among android handsets. Its look speaks for itself. Still, there are areas it lacks (camera), and some future support is uncertain (it's shown early promise w/ quick updates, but I've been burned by Motorola before, even since they were bought). I say all this because I want to avoid another tired iOS vs Android debate... You don't need to convert me, I am aware of strengths and weaknesses for both platforms, it's just that right now I am attracted more toward the wide support of the App Store and hardware of Apple's products. The Moto X looks like an excellent phone. I'd probably be happy with it. But I know I am happy now with what I have, and I don't have to compromise within Apple's system, as a self-contained thing.
Style, performance, and battery life are all things I am good with on the Moto X. I am most wary about future support and app selection. Yes it is more comparable to iOS every day, but it's not there yet, and iOS still gets many new apps first or exclusively.
If I could afford a second device, it would be a Moto X, no question.
Not that I don't appreciate the eagerness to help. I'm just tired of the ubiquitous phone wars online, and would like to preemptively bow out if it comes to that.
That's useful to know, thanks.wasn't a phone war, just trying to see if we could identify alternatives. off the top of my head, Lux does the same thing as f.lux, for instance.

Just got my Moto X and I thought I'd stop by here to get advice on what I need to do to make it run as efficiently/quickly as possible. Haven't really delved into Android phones too deeply so if you have any helpful advice please feel free to share it.

Give it a shot for a few weeks before you start tinkering with it. Moto has done a great job with the moto phones.
Would it be worth selling my Verizon-ized S4 for this?

I'm very tempted at this price but I have a perfectly fine HTC One. Decisions, decisions.
Is it over already? Not sure, I am in Europe.
Is it possible to use a customized Moto X on a low-cost service like Republic wireless? I have $350 saved toward a new iPad but I'd be okay using it for a Moto X if I could cut my monthly cell bill at the same time.
Having some serious battery problems on a brand new Moto X, not sure whether something is seriously wrong:
Ye I've tried the factory reset and that didn't solve it. Going to charge up and run down theIf this continues, then it's likely a battery fault and you need a replacement. The obvious suggestion is a reboot and/or factory reset in case there's some weird software bug at play here, though it seems unlikely.

Is the battery life manageable on Moto X, meaning do you need to worry about the battery at all, currently I have the thunderbolt with a extended battery and I can run the phone with high brightness and not worry about the battery all day.
Cab that be done on Moto X?
