Really tho, the American entertainment industry is fucking cancer when it comes to this.
I can't speak for other countries but I don't see this shit where I am from or from Japanese outlets and dev studios.
Americans are just obsessed about race and gender politics it's really obnoxious.
Japan is another can of worms when it comes to diversity. There are female/male diversity in studios in Japan, but the discrepancy between men and women over there is very apparent. Women are treated poorly in asian cultures, but again it's part of their culture.
The issue with the west is very complicated, but mainly boils down to people wanting to be represented personally instead of treated like one unified nation. And because of this Our country now has been losing it's identity, we can't teach Teach or enforce English to be the main language, it's now becoming spanish.
We can't pledge allegiance to the flag anymore and be one nation under god. Can't say Amen in a closing prayer at church anymore.
Someone else posted a video about whats going to happen ultimately, its going to take 50+ years to blow up, but its going to happen.
USA use to be about if your willing to work your ass off amid a lot of obstacles including oppression you can gain the American dream. There's nothing stopping anyone from having the most banging resume where anyone want to hire you. Or if you do come across opposition with studios not hiring you based on your gender/religion/ then just start your own thing?
People believe that the world specifically the US is against them to succeed in life? And honestly thats just life, not some evil entity sitting in a chair pondering schemes of how I can hire an all male studio.
I heard this from someone I worked with at Jeff tech Boces and re-heard it from a interview on cnn," You can't always control the outcome, but you can 100% control the effort".
Your effort in how you apply for positions/your demo reel is what you can control. Just because you didn't get the job or were considered doesnt mean you wont at some point, it's your effort in where/how you apply that matters the most.
