Genesis - No son of mine
Suzanne Vega - Luka

It sort of touches me as i come from a household of abuse, though i did survived and the key to my survival has never been in doubt :) . In my case i did not know that it was abuse until much later when i got older and realized what has been done to me.

Sad/Pretty Songs:
Sanctuary by Frank Ticheli
Posted this song before in a similar thread.
Still one of the most beautiful pieces that I've ever heard, and also had the honor to play.

Esto Les Digo by Kinley Lange is another classical piece that gets me. That soprano solo at the end. :')

Oh, and NieR's Emil - Sacrifice
Another gorgeous song, performed commendably.

Gurren Lagann - Omae no XXX yo, Sosoritate!

Happy Songs:
Kamakura by Emancipator
I guess it's not the tone of the song, but its composition. Such a masterfully crafted song.

BT - Every Other Way always cheers me up, as well. Such an upbeat song.

Erhu fiddle played in an amazing song, accompanied by piano
Popped up on YouTube years ago as part of a "Shen Yun performing arts" tour. It has stuck with me since. It's one of the most powerful and touching songs I've heard. I feel unfortunate that there's no higher quality version in an actual music player format.

Also: Man of the World from Naruto, and I haven't even seen a single Naruto episode. Lirik loves to play this song in his stream.

I always found this a surprisingly moving song, considering the subject; lamenting a lost (and presumably gay) relationship that existed in the hyper-macho football hooligan scene of the 80s.

Stars - Barricade

Music that can calm you down anytime
Music that can make you forget all your troubles for a moment
Music that can make your eyes so dang watery

One a different note, Dansen Aan Zee by Dutch band Bløf.
I generally don't really care for songs in my own language, but this one has this strange effect on me. I move with the music and all of a sudden I need to dry my eyes. Music, man.

BlØf is awesome! That song... Its something else.

The only ones that affect me on their own are:

I'll Try Anything Once - The Strokes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RDq5PKcN5g
It gives me such a sense of nostalgia and self-reflection, it reminds of high school for some reason.

Heroes - David Bowie

This song gives of love that is doomed to fail, but that that doesn't matter, only the now matters. I don't know why this resonates so much with me, I'm not exactly romantic or anything.

There are others that affect me, but only because they are attached to something else (even if they are good songs):

Libera Me from Hell
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VT6LFOIofRE
Sorairo Days
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNQvLECht08
Both from Gurren Lagann, they give this feeling that I can I do anything, one might say that I can do the impossible and see the invisible.

Kimi no Kioku

From Persona 3, it gives me both joy and sadness when I hear it, I still tear up everytime

The new Failure album 'The Heart is a Monster' hits me pretty hard. Particularly 'Snow Angel' and 'AM Amnesia'. Such a great band that's been under the radar for 20 years.

Over the past few weeks I've gotten into Nine Inch Nails, and the timing is such that the music really speaks to me. The Downward Spiral and The Fragile in particular have taken me to the places I needed to go, emotionally, and now Trent Reznor is my favourite musician.

Song of the moment is probably Various Methods of Escape, but the earlier albums are flawless in my opinion and very powerful.
