My 10 year old sister gets to see Star Wars on the big screen!

I know some people on the internet don't appreciate all the 6 Star Wars films, for the most part episodes 1-3... Some people might not like 3D... I'm excited about this though.

My ten year old sister has never experienced Star Wars on the big screen, and I'm lucky enough to get to go see it with her. I remember being awestruck in the theater after all 6 movies, falling in love with Sci-Fi...

Will anyone else here get to go see it with family members or friends who have yet to see these movies? Or is anyone else really excited to see these on the Big Screen again?

Please, don't bother hating it won't add to the conversation :P

READ BEFORE HATE:

My theater showed the original 3 Star Wars movies for one day only before episode 1 came out, so I saw the ORIGINAL 3 before episode one, and I still love them all to this day. I've also noticed after more than ten years people have come around to the prequels and stop listening to the echo chambers of hate.

Already saw them when they came out.
And when they re-aired them and the originals.
Probably won't see the 3D versions, though.

She has seen them though, right?

Arguments about the prequels aside, I do think there is something to seeing the movies in a particular order.

These are the best family movies.

Can't wait to see the numbers for TPM. Should be good for some tears, either way.

Watching them in the correct order of 1-6 makes most of the complaints laughable. If one has seen the originals, they have to pretend they have not when watching the prequels, like if one read chapters of a book out of order.

I saw all three "special editions" in theaters in the 90s, and the new trilogy all day one. Lucas isn't getting any more of my money, I tell all of my family/friends that haven't seen SW that the new trilogy stinks.

I saw 10 year old sister, and I'm ashamed to think it was going to be more salacious impactful.

I actually am pretty ashamed of that.

Don't think like that man. The movies pretty good in my opinion, the internet echo chambers of hate have clouded your vision.

No she hasn't seen any of them! Were going to do our best to keep all the big secrets and epic moments under wraps as well.

I'm glad that I can say that I've liked the prequels since day one. They're fun as hell and high-spirited with amazing production design, art direction, action, and music. Lucas may not be able to write dialogue very well, but I still think he did a great job with the overall storytelling.

Also, a big problem I had with Episode I has been rectified: no more shitty puppet Yoda.

Jar Jar always made me laugh.

Also he is funny as HELL in the Clone Wars Series.

I enjoyed 1, 2, 3 as much as I enjoyed 4, 5, 6 say what?

I don't know but I find the fall of the Republic and the clone wars more interesting than the rebellion and fall of the empire (or technically the beginning of the fall if we count the books continuing the story after episode 6). Oh and no more puppet yoda.

And yes I do watch the clone wars series on cartoon network. Cad Bane is a badass.

4 > 5 > 1 (yes I went there) > 6 > 2 > 3

1 has a lot of annoying shit in it but I still fondly remember watching that in theaters when I was 9!!

I like LOTR a lot more than Star Wars but Harry Potter movies are no better. In fact most of them are unremarkable (aside from the third).

Yeah, that completely ruins every reveal in the original trilogy. Siblings, Vader's relationship with Luke, and the Yoda reveal all mean nothing in the 1-6 order.

This is true, then again I would argue the surprises of the prequels will be fantastic.

She has no idea who is Darth Vader. The fall of the republic, Order 66.

And also reveal the hilarity of the retconned relationship between Luke and Leia. There's no way in hell Lucas knew they were going to be brother and sister in the original two movies. Watching them in order just makes that even more apparent.

the only reason people say that they like the third the best is because Alfonso Cuaron directed it and it has pretty cinematography and neat transitions. in terms of narrative I felt the later installments flatlined it and they also had pretty cinematography.

Dunno, I really found Star Wars in general kind of boring. Maybe when my kid is a bit older I'll give it a go and see how he responds to the series.

Yeah the surprises in the prequels are pretty damn good but it will drastically reduce the surprises in 4 5 and 6. It's so much more satisfying and exciting about revealing the tragic villian of Darth Vader in 4 5 and 6 and then watching the prequels to learn on who he actually is (even if the portrayal did suck).

Actually I liked it because it looked really dark and it had a larger focus on Gary Oldman/David Thewlis than the other films. They were my favorite characters.

5-7 bores me to no end. I also didn't like the books much after 4 either styll.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm referring to. Seeing them in order 1-6 pretty much takes some if the best things away from the originals, particularly Empire.

Oh, so you just didn't generally enjoy where the story went, period. I gotcha. I mean that's totally fair. I disagree pretty hard but at least it makes sense to me now. :p

Which is why Star Wars win the prize for the dumbest way to resolve a love triangle in cinematic history.

Personally, I don't think I could sit through I or II again, and III is only a maybe, so I'll be passing on the 3D editions till (/if) they get to the original trilogy myself.

I got to see the re-releases back in 1997 or whatever it was.. I almost missed Jedi on day 1 but my dad came through. It meant so much to me to get to see them on the big screen. I was in heaven.

Episode III is my favorite. Had the most emotion IMO. I know people slight the acting/emotion a lot in the prequels, but the originals weren't exactly spilling over the sides with great acting and emotion either. In fact Return of the Jedi has pretty shitty acting, especially from Fisher.

However Episode III had the most emotional content for me and maybe aside from Portman the actors did a good job with it. Yes, even Hayden. Maybe that's why I'm not a prequel hater; as long as I've loved SW, and as much, I never have because of the performances or the dialogue.

I'm pretty hyped to see The Phantom Menace in 3D this Friday. Yes it had its flaws, but I think it's a very underrated film. It had a heart and emotion that was sorely missing in Attack of the Clones. Had some good memories waiting on line to see it in 1999. Happier times.

I'm debating seeing them since the only one I have seen in theaters is Episode 3. It would be amazing seeing them all on the big screen for the first time but I don't like 3D.

there are some non 3D locations, but from what early reviews I've seen the 3D isn't bad.

but seriously, the prequels aren't as bad as most say, (anakin/padme love scenes are still terrible though). but i don't think ill watch them in theatres again. i did that when they came out. but being only 20 i've never seen the original 3 on the big screen. so im definetely going to now, even with the crappy changes.

I agree, Episode 3 is my favorite out of the saga. Even if the dialogue was average to sub par the emotion is really captured in the scenes alone during the sacking of the Jedi Temple, Order 66, and the duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan, not to mention the soundtrack was really good.

Ah the usual defending of original vs prequel by the star wars faithful. Thank goodness she is only 10 since that's about the only time any SW movies are entertaining.

Most over rated series ever closely followed by Harry Potter.

Episode 3 is my favorite, tied for first with 5.

My children will never see those atrocities not as long as I'm in charge! They'll watch them on vhs and like em or else!
