Glad to hear that she is recovering well too =)

Well, perhaps next try to read up on dietary requirements/supplements or perhaps ask the doc on what she should eat in her meals to try offset the side effects on the body.

Wish her a speedy recovery, and you a strong heart that will not falter =)

I've been following this but haven't spoken until now. The update you gave yesterday really bummed me out but I'm very happy to hear about her progress today. I'm getting married in Novemeber and thinking of something like this happening has been very frightening.

You seem like an awesome guy and she is very lucky to have you. Things will only get better from here on out. Good luck to you both.

Only just seen this thread now but in glad to hear she's doing well. I hope she makes a full recovery and you guys go on to have the most perfect wedding day. Best of luck pal =)

The e-card is such a cool idea Devo, add me if you're still adding. GAF is awesome.

Glad to know she's at least starting to move around and function a bit. Assuming she also left the house to go to her dad's birthday party. Some of your updates are really scary and it's terrifying thinking of myself in your position, but when my son was born with a heart condition we had some pretty scary moments for the first 6 year so I know what its like to be in your position and you have my sympathy for that.

Keep staying strong for her.

2 every four hours, alternating with 2 dilaudid, so she's getting a different set of pills every two hours. There's phenergan too but she's only taking it as needed. Only had one of those today.

Best painkiller ever. Very glad that things are looking up for you and your Fiance. May she have a full, speedy recovery!

I'm not sure who is still keeping up with this thread, but I thought I'd chime in with some good news since my last few posts were kind of a downer.

She is doing really, really well considering what she's been through. The dilaudid + percocet is doing a lot to help her manage her pain. She gets kind of spacey on all these pills (12 of each per day), but hopefully she won't have to take them for long. Would be a real kick in the nuts if she ended up dependent on them once the rest of this is over. Guess we'll cross that bridge if we come to it.

We watched Archer together tonight. She made it through about half the episode and fell asleep, but that's a big step forward. I helped her to shower today (we have been using wipes until now), and she felt a bit better afterward. Her phone and facebook have been filling up with posts of people asking about what happened, and she managed to call most of them today and let them know she is alright.

I looked up some info on subarachnoid hemorrhages earlier today, but decided it was better not to read too much into it. That's some really frightening shit. Luckily she seems to be one of the few who make it out without any obvious lasting damage. Her eyesight is still kind of off, but outside of that she is doing great. She's taking a while to respond to questions sometimes, but it's difficult to tell if that's because of her injury or because she's got a kilo of pain meds flowing through her veins.

We celebrated her dad's birthday today, so I think that helped to raise her spirits. I'm hoping she makes it through the night without waking up. Last night she was kind of loopy on the dilaudid and almost fell trying to get to the bathroom by herself. I heard her just as she started to stumble and woke up immediately. I don't think I've ever jumped out of bed so fast before. Hoping nothing like that happens again. Thankfully I am a light sleeper.

Good to hear she's doing better! I was on dialudid when I shattered my femur. That stuff is for real; she must be in terrible pain still. It's good that she's on the pill version. I was on the IV drip of dialudid and when I stopped taking it 5 days after my accident and switched to to the pills I went through insane withdrawals.

She had it administered as an IV for two days while she was in the trauma unit, and twice in the ER last night. The pills take a while to kick in, but they seem to last longer overall.

She's got to be numbed to the effects of withdrawal because of the amount she's taking, but I'm worried about how she'll feel when the prescription runs out. I know she's in pain but narcotics aren't something I'm comfortable messing around with. Ultimately it's her decision but it's a nagging worry in the back of my mind.

Yeah the pills are probably a slower paced introduction into the bloodstream. I remember being on it for surgery via IV drip and the room was wobbling around like crazy and I was laying down in bed, so it makes sense that she was having trouble walking with it in her system.

Just saw this thread and would be loved to be added to the card! (Would prefer Blue text :D and to list Cisce from Alberta, Canada if it's possible. If it isn't, I don't mind.) I wish the best for your fiance and that you guys can fight through this. I'm just glad it's not as bad as it could have been.

Best Wishes :)

I've seen this thread around but was scared to click on it because, well, this kind of stuff terrifies me. I am glad that everything is going better now. I hope her recovery continues going well. And you're lucky to have a lady who likes Archer, you were smart to marry her.

Blah, I have followed..but want to be added too. A nice blue would do.

Stay strong for her, so you can keep up the care.

i literally read the first post just now, got scared out of my mind. Then i read the most recent one, which makes me feel better. I sincerely hope she recovers quickly and well.

That she's this lucid on that many pain killers is a very, very good sign. I was laid up with percocet after my knee surgery, and I was nearly out of my mind the entire time. Serious tripping going on. She will undoubtedly be in better shape when she's healed well enough not to require it.

Sounds like she's very fortunate and making great progress. Thanks for the update.

Great stuff, Crunched. One day at a time.

Please add me too. Glad to hear that your fiance is doing better. :)

I've been reading this thread but haven't replied yet, I'm really glad to hear she's doing better man, I really can't imagine how hard this must be for you and really hope her recovery keeps going well

You're doing a stalwart job there Crunched. Keep it up and good luck. I've been through similar things with my sister and all three of my children - I panicked like crazy every damn time but you seem to be doing it just right. Good on you. My very best wishes to you both.

If it's not too late Devo, please add me in. Don't really care how, except not in a sans-serif font!

So I've been following your story silently, waiting for the good news updates, but I decided I wanted to finally take a min to express

How fortunate your girl is to have you. We all like to think that if something ever happens to us there would be someone there to help see us through, but you sir, actually are.

My very best wishes to you both in this continued recovery.

Read through the whole thread. I'm glad to hear she's getting better. I would only add that you do only as much as you can, but tell her that you love her as often as she can stand. :D

It does sound like a lot of painkillers but no point playing armchair doctor when there are doctors who do that all day. If you have a concern about the painkillers, ask them when it'll be appropriate to start reducing the dosage--from 12 to 10 and so on. It'll probably be down to her tolerance, I suspect, but again, doctors are there for a reason.

Also, Devo, can I get added to the card?
