I like yours. I think I met him at ACL fest a couple years ago.
He was laying unjder a tree away from all the bands.

I was all: "What you doing? You can't see the bands!"
He just laughed and tried to sell me some peyote out of a sock.

My personal god is Neil Young cuz hes a classy guy but still works in mysterious ways. For real, ever heard Trans?

but chac mool is not a "god", it's just a statue, mysterious in its nature but still just a statue. no one ever said it depicted a god (ok, no one ever said it didn't. wait, I'm saying it now).

so I guess we can all choose a different god without having to select it from the current pool of "existing" gods?

can I make up one? can I say I'm god? please? I'm god.

In Greek mythology, Hermaphroditus or Hermaphroditos (Ancient Greek: ʽἙρμάφρόδιτός) was the child of Aphrodite and Hermes. Born a remarkably handsome boy, he was transformed into an androgynous being by union with the nymph Salmacis.

Yeaaaah, buddy. Best of both worlds. Amirite?

Jesus of Nazareth

More followers than any other God.............ever.
of which I am one

More followers? How do you figure?

'Cause it seems to me that Yaweh gets all the Christians, plus the Jews and the Muslims, whereas Christ only gets the Christians. So at the very least, Yaweh has more followers than Christ.

Not fair. Christians are not known for their knowledge of history, science, religion, geography astronomy, etc.

Because we believe Christ IS Yaweh, duh.

You know that Yaweh as you described is technically the creator and father. If you use that language it's Yeshua.

Don't get too technical, because then you can't claim him as the Christian/Muslim God, then the post I was responding to falls apart and I'm correct again.

I would separate that completely so your post doesn't fall apart. Jews do not feel jesus is the messiah so how can something that has no godly status in one part of faith fly in another? You're only trying to be accurate I'm just giving out some pointers.

But Christians HAVE made significant contributions in the areas of science, history, geography, etc. I know this is gaf, and I know why the people who found the comment funny are posting smilies, but can the flaming at least be on something that's not a stereotypical caricature of reality?

This is funny given your posting of a stereotypical caricature of Jesus Christ as a blue-eyed white man.

What is?

edit: the pictures is the first one that shows up on Bing image search, if you're trying to suggest any ignorance on my part.

Yes, some of them have. But as a group, they're best known for holding these areas back; both throughout history and today.

Improperly so. It would have never been the case that the Renaissance would have happened had it not been for the church acting as a meeting place for science and culture, a place of safety from the barbarians. The ammount of safety afforded by the church overrides the ammount of censorship.

Given the thread title surely this IS the thread for that debate?

How the thread is about exalting one God over another not the impact of one faith be it positive or negative on our species?

Ah, I see.

Well, I worship Neil Patrick Harris, whom I believe is Yaweh. Therefore, Neil Patrick Harris now has the most followers, since he has all of the Christians, Jews and Muslims, plus me.

See what happens when you can make up your own rules? You're always right!

my god has twin 50 caliber mounted machine guns on his shoulders, adamantium skin, spews acid, and can run 400 miles per hour.

WHAT DOES YOUR GOD HAVE?

Glass half full or half empty? Regardless, it's impossible to deny that the most vocal modern Christian groups oppose the advancement of science, history, religion, geography and astronomy; which is really the crux of the original argument.

1. Christians believe Christ is God
2. You stated that Yaweh is the God of Christianity (as well as Muslims/Jews)
3. Therefore, Jesus has the most followers

If you say Yahweh is NOT the God of Christianity, and only of Judaism (thus excluding Allah as well), then Jesus STILL has the most followers.

If you equate Christian's belief of Jesus as God with your spontaneous declaration of NPH as God, then Jesus STILL has the most followers and you are an idiot.

And if we count the adherents of Raptor Jesus, the margin only grows.

Yeah, no. Wrong again.

I'm not sure why popularity is viewed as a positive anyways. Is it easier to believe in an invisible-man-in-the-sky if you take solace in the fact that 2 billion other people believe the same nonsense? It's the equivalent of stating that 'AMERICAN IDOL is the greatest show ever because it is the most popular! Lulz.' It's really back to the whole crutch for weak-minded people who need strength in numbers thing. Sorry to interrupt, go on with the whole these people really believe in MY god thing...
