supernova goes pop

I'm aware of that, by caught i ment captured the data on the nearby stars fluctuating from the result of this. We're talking one of, if not the most powerful forces in the known universe going off, it has to have a noticable effect on nearby system, if not outright destroying them (though I doubt another star can be easily blown apart, Im curious what actually happen to it.

There have been investigations of then effect of supernovas on the surrounding environment but that's significantly easier to do when it's in our galaxy. For reference, the center of our galaxy is ~25 000 lightyears away, and Andromeda is 2.5 million lightyears away, and the local group of galaxies the Milky Way and Andromeda is apart of is a little over 3 million light years across. The galaxy that this supernova was detected is 1.2 billion light years away. They're not going to be able to resolve much when all they're really getting is an immense change in brightness, such that it was enough to stand out compared to the rest of the galaxy for <1 hour.

This is just to awesome..what a time to see stuff like this going past Pluto and from the animation showing that a supernova really happened.

Just be glad it's an animation. If we were close enough to see a supernova in that detail we'd all be vaporized by now.
