Executive producer Marshall Herskovitz says, a “great story line” in Season 5 will allow Will to do something for the first time in series history: He’ll just be a character like all the others.
“We’re very sensitive to the fact that Will is a human being first, a musician second. He’s not defined by his sexuality, just like no one else is defined by their sexuality,” the EP previews.
Watched the first episode on Hulu. This may have been the best episode of Nashville since the PILOT. Wow.
Edit: it's funny they said they're gonna fix Maddie but in the first episode she's still a massive bitch to Daphne lmao
First CMT episode got 1.74 mil viewers and 0.5 demo. No idea if this is good for cable or CMT.
(wish it was as Game of Thrones-ish as that chair though).
Connie Britton was on Ellen and when asked about the rumors that she was leaving, she seemed to denounce them but it was in a somewhat coy manner. Guess we'll see for sure soon enough.
She was also really coy with Michael Ausiello when he asked her about it around the time of the Emmys. I figure if she wasn't leaving the show prematurely, she wouldn't be acting so cagey, so...
CMT is joining the aftershow club with Nashchat, a social interactive companion to hit country music drama Nashville. The show will include a Facebook Live chat hosted by Amy Brown, co-host of country radio series The Bobby Bones Show, and will debut immediately following the two-hour Season 5 premiere of Nashville January 5 at 11 PM on CMTs Facebook page. Chris Carmack (Will Lexington) will be the first guest.
Each episode will originate live from a living room in Nashville, featuring cast and crew interviews, original music, Nashville insiders and fans recapping each new episode just after the show ends.
Well, for those who have seen the first episode and if you haven't I would love to hear your feedback when you do, they seems to be setting up her exit storyline in this episode if the rumors are true. Her character was acting very distant and "off" from the character we left at the end (and where the character's emotional state having just reclaimed her family and happy) of last season. I don't know, it was a weird choice for her character I think. Would love to hear your guy's thoughts once you see the episode.
That being said, can't wait to see the whole episode when it premieres.
The Wayfaring Stranger; Back in Baby's Arms
Rayna and Deacon adjust to Maddie's return home and deal with Highway 65's financial problems in the first half of this combined episode. In the second half, Rayna asks Deacon about making a concept album together; and Scarlett struggles to trust Gunnar.
‘Nashville' Sets Companion Aftershow ‘Nashchat'
.
I haven't seen it yet, but I can't imagine I'll be satisfied with anything they come up with: Rayna leaving Deacon and her kids of her own accord would be wildly out of character; a rehab story has already been done; witness protection would be unbelievably dumb; and her dying would be a slap in the face to the fans who have stuck with the show for 5 years. Like.
Well one of those things happens tonight actually lol ( at least in the first hour shown so far). And I HATED it. "Just got them all back together at the end of last season....now let's do something completely different".
Hope Nashchat gets over to Hulu as well for non-CMT people like me. It's nice that they are going all out and supporting this revival this way (but the show itself probably cost them a good penny so why not)

In its second week, #NashChat Facebook Live reached nearly 1 million fans.
omg they lampshaded Maddie being a bitch LMAO
The show is SO much better now it's crazy. Like every scene I can just tell would've been so much worse before, it would've been cut off much earlier.
The performances are much better too. Most notably I feel like Connie Britton is actually trying again, so much that I would really hate it if she left and the show continues without her.
Kevin and Will ugh
They have a trans character on Nashville! Awesome
So is the tech guy crushing on Will or what? I still think he'sand this Will thing is a red herring.really Rayna's stalker
It's all the alcohol in the BBQ sauces. These country singers sure are exceptionally prone to get in random crashes, aren't they?
oh god ;_____;
Right? Watching this right after the latest episode of This Is Us was not the best idea.
When they started singing 'Life That's Good'
Juliette rockin that Maleficent look
Details on the characters Bilson and Doubleday will be playing are being kept under wraps.
They always gotta make Juliette be a "villain" don't they :/
Last night was the mid season finale - the show will return in a few months.
Also, Nashville Adds The O.C.'s Rachel Bilson and Empire's Kaitlin Doubleday
Um I thought this show started in January to air continuously through. Did that change and does that mean this is getting bad ratings/ another season unlikely?
