Twitch Confirmed for PlayStation 4

Today we’re proud to announce that Twitch will indeed be available on the PlayStation 4. This Fall, PS4 owners worldwide will be able to broadcast their gameplay direct to their Twitch channels by simply pressing the new “Share” button found on the DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller. This makes broadcasting a game as easy as playing one (or perhaps even easier!).

For those who prefer to spectate, we’ll also have a viewing app available on the PlayStation 4, creating a complete Twitch experience for PS4 gamers.

According to the Entertainment Software Association, “Fifty-one percent of U.S. households own a dedicated game console, and those that do own an average of two.” With Twitch coming to both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, odds are Twitch is going to be in a lot of living rooms in the very near future. We’re paving the way for every gamer to become an avid broadcaster, and putting those streams in front of more eyeballs than you’ve ever imagined. We thank you all for helping make this possible and we’re looking forward to seeing Twitch on next-generation consoles this Fall.

Only interesting part of the conference, kind of sad that it's the only thing that's keeping me from cancelling my pre-order.

Native Twitch on Xbox was one of the features that most excited me during the E3 Conference. Thought they had a lock on exclusivity. Interesting, but I hope Twitch will have the bandwidth capacity to pull this off.

Oh, from the conference they just made it seem like it was just viewing streams and not broadcasting. Cool though. Ustream is horrible.

Very good news. Twitch is by far my favorite, and a big favorite in the streaming community. Would have hampered its effect to be limited to one platform.

I wish that instantanious "Join Game" button while watching a stream is real. Shu didn't even have to go through the game interface.

Microsoft really fooled me and most of the rest of us into thinking Minecraft and Twitch were exclusive to the Xbox One. It's really annoying to be misled like that.

Really happy PS4 got twitch. It was really the only non-game thing that made me jealous for the Xbox One.

I have to admit, it did look kind of impressive at the start when the person on the couch was browsing all the live twitch streams, and then simply hit "join" and within seconds (with no actual start-up logos etc) he was in the match playing - and then within seconds of finishing had uploaded a replay of his session.

I would pay for something like that on Steam/Origin etc.

Every statement I remember coming from Twitch was that they had no interest in platform exclusivity. They wanted to be on everything. Great to see it get done on PS4.

Not sure what to make of this, initially I was a bit peeved as I recently got a capture card (with HDCP work around) to stream PS4 on twitch, then this happens, and now I am not sure about my purchase.

I suppose this is good news for getting the message out there, so there might be more viewers.
