Naughty Dog Announces Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

Well it's not rocket science. I don't think folks have the memory of a goldfish and are simply putting two and two together considering the studios past absolute 'joys'

I highly doubt Neil's had secret mad bouts of testosterone replacement and we'll now get a story of a heterosexual woman yearning for the love of her kids and husband.
It doesn't matter. For all we know you could be right. But you are pretty much giving a judgment of a book from the cover. And the cover isn't even bad or implying anything.

Let the game out. Then judge with your wallet. It's not really that hard.

I ain't gonna hate a studio because some of their games are woke and I won't support that.

I am against woke and all. But this is too early and too immature

Well said

All the ways lead to Slopville.

You mean the equivalent, not the opposite. The equivalent of an alpha male is not a man-looking woman. It's Lara Croft.

There's nothing "alpha" in Jordan. She would be mocked and laughed at by fellow girlfriends as soon as she left the room.

Hard-boiled tomboys can be cool, though. Vasquez from Aliens, for example. Her introduction to the audience is immaculate.
I didnt mean her. I meant people who talk about alpha males and chads and get tjis triggered over a fictional womans haircut. It does not give off strong chad energy.

A sensible take indeed.

The issue is not one particular haircut but overall direction of games from Sony over last 5-6 years.

I am not sure how that is hard to understand.

myself, i don't really give a shit whether the protagonist's head's shaved. i haven't liked naughty dog's games since uncharted 4, which served as the beginning of their 'fixation with modern audience melodrama & emotional manipulation' phase, & which continued through lost legacy & hit new highs in tlou2. i don't like the way that all that's good in their games, technically & mechanically, ends up in the service of this fixation. if you can ignore it, & just enjoy the games on that level? power to you. i can't, & it's the main reason, as much as i loved pre-ps4 naughty dog, i'm not seeing interstellar as being anything other than more of that same bullshit featuring a new protagonist in a new setting...

as always, will love being proven wrong...

6 years have been passed since Naughty Dog's latest game LoU2. Whole PS5 generation passed and as a first party studio they didn't produce anything. 6 years.

I left my hardcore Sony fanboy personality behind long time ago. But man 6 years with nothing from a "First Party Studio". I really find that interesting. I wonder how Sony's upper management take this situation? I think all they wonder about this new game is "How much political or LTGBQYAQTQGAJAJAI shit we should put in this game?".

In a totally unrelated point. I was playing the original PS2 Jak and Daxter the other night. It's crazy to think the studio that made such a fun and wholesome game, became a studio that deals in brutal gore, 'modern' sensibilities and now has reached a point where most are dubious of their next game and arguing over haircuts :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I do miss that old studio. The old back catalogue is legendary.

Sure. I'll bookmark this post for later. I'm not involved in the bet itself though.

If you lose, maybe donate the $100 to an LGBTQ+ organization out of sportsmanship lol
Ah, well I was looking for a taker on the bet to be honest. As in, if I'm right I get $100.

I really need a hundred dollars! Seems like an easy bet to win.

Using Ripley from Alien 3 is the worst possible argument to defend the shaved head of the protagonist in Neil Druckmann's new game.

In the third movie, Ripley accidentally ends up on a prison planet full of violent criminals where there are no women at all. So she shaves her head to look as unfeminine, unsexy, and unprovocative as possible.
The biggest reason for the shaved head is actually that there's a huge lice problem on the planet.

Most of the times they have many redeeming quality and i'm not one of those people who could only play japanese games for the rest of my life, i generally prefer western games but they are almost all woke to an extent so you really have no mich choice if you enjoy AAA.

If i can get my enjoyment from both laughing at the woke stuff in a forum and enjoying the gameplay of a game it's a win win for me :lollipop_grinning_sweat:
I've always highly respected you but I have my limits on this.

I would expect the gameplay and graphics to be industry leading. The story and characters on the other hand will be so damn awful they will be talked about for years to come.

I dont think i said anything outlandish.

You people take this shit way too seriously, me getting double enjoyment from the drama in the forum and the actual game is a better net result than most people in here who cant laugh at the woke stuff or people who dont buy any game with even 5% of woke in it, i get the best of both worlds.

What game has poor story from them that gives you that impression? Uncharted were all solid, as were The last of us.

This game is going to melt eyeballs can't wait for the crow served to some
I don't think anyone doubts that, with an almost unlimited budget, Naughty Dog would deliver an absolute graphical powerhouse. Especially since they save a ton of performance by not having to render the main character's hair *Ba-dum-tss*

Again for a sony california game, this is too much red flag for push and forced woke and dei in this game. Neil himself is already a red flag.
It undoubtedly is. I ask myself, people that truly believe that there is even a slight chance of this game NOT being woke, how do they even survive from day to day? They are so far disconnected from reality, that they probably require permanent assistance in their everyday-lives. Do most of them live in assisted living? Because they clearly can't be sui juris.

Their only current gen game so far (part 1) was just a bit better looking than Part 2 on PS4.

Sony games are not graphical powerhouses they used to be this gen (outside of GG), maybe ND will change this trend.
considering that almost everything that really gives games the next gen look is too heavy for the consoles and you can basically only "wow" with sheer budget and scope on those platforms, like GTA will, I´m not holding my breath anymore, not even for ND, especially not after this clusterfuck gen from Sony (software wise)

ND games focus on character relationship, the reason why Neil's poor worldbuilding is not so blatant. The world of TLOU is full of contradictions and things that clearly have not been thought out properly. Since they stay in the background, players don't care or notice most of the time, but then the game tells you that in a world without global logistics a vaccine is going to save the day. That idea is so stupid and conflicting with what you have seen for the 40 previous hours that your only option is to switch off your brain and play along.

So, a dude that can't get a post-apocalyptic world right is not going to create a rich sci-fi universe. Maybe the personal story of the MC is great, but the fictional universe is going to be full of bullshit. I'm already seeing it in the trailer with the DUMB pop culture references and the dated tech. Newspapers??? Seriously??

er.. i don't think they meant they were literally going to save the planet and everyone in it, of course there is no supply chain anymore they were talking about their immediate world and the ones they could reach and then it could grow from there but it had to start from somewhere, i think you've completely over thought that one.

Remasters are hardly "new games". Remake of TLOU1 is also not exactly a new game, they reused a lot of assets made for Part 2 and core gameplay and story elements were already done in 2013.

remasters are something you hand to the apprentices, go make it nicer.. hardly a brand spanking new game
Yeah, but it's not like they were doing nothing during the time between TLOU2 and Intergalactic.

the absolute fascination for gore and violence at nd comes from neil druckmann. He developped very unhealthy obsessions growing up, then as soon as he had control he put his sadistic tendencies in his games and rationalized it with his supposed inclusive message. He is a "violence serves a purpose guys don't you see ?" type of edgelord. It is truly strange seeing a 40 something successfull dude having this mindset.

Insane to think of how much of a big studio they were and in one generation they have completely dropped off the radar.
Well if they didn't cancel it Factions 2 would have been out by now, I think people forget that. And, well, I'd rather they take their time and do their thing rather than rush games out, but I do agree they are big enough that I thought they'd have something out, shame that isnt a new Uncharted

He is certainly an edge Lord alright. And he utterly lost me with Tlou 2.

You could say Uncharted was a brutal adventure but to me it was in a tongue in cheek way, akin to Indiana Jones. It was humourous too with a very likable cast.

But Tlou 2, na, just a nonsense all round. I'll carry on with Jak and Daxter, collecting power cells is more fun. And I think I'll give Uncharted 1-3 another run.

To me they're just a former studio of days gone by, just like most of them now.

Luckily, we have a game like Bond to play. Its great. Projects get cancelled by big studios. It doesnt change anything. Not a single game from Naughty Dog this generation. :(

That's not the way the game and his director frames "Joel's decision". I have read countless arguments on whether or not Joel did the right thing in the impossible choice "Ellie or humankind". If the game had any honesty, the "dilemma" would have been "Save Ellie or save the members of the terrorist group Fireflies", because those would be the only ones benefiting from the vaccine.

Obviously, that decision wouldn¡t have the same weight. The problem with the original TLOU is that Neil Druckmann was so in love with his premise that he forgot to create a world where that premise made any sense. It doesn't.

That's one of the reasons why the vaccine plot device is completely buried in the second game. It was always a dead end.

I'm not believing that suddenly this guy has become Frank Herbert and he can create amazing sci-fi universes.

Tell me this isn't a serious take
