Naughty Dog: going back and playing the 30 Hz version feels "broken" (Gamespot+TLOU)

For a remaster/port like The Last of Us, 60 fps sounds great, but for a brand new game built for the PS4 like Uncharted 4 I rather have it be 30 with them cranking up all the visuals and post-processing effects to the highest possible level. Not like I'm gonna complain that it's 60 tho lol.

Of course there will be some dips here and there, but I think most of the time it will be at 60fps. This is a console we're talking about not a f*** high end pc. Although even some high end pc have some dips in some games.

What does it being a console have to do with anything? If anything, that would be a plus over the pc in this situation.

God bless 'em and the PS4 version will be the best version no question. If you haven't played it, buy it on PS4.

That said, I'm on my third playthrough on PS3 and feel no need to upgrade.

"There was an internal debate just over the artistic-ness of going 30 or 60, and whether or not it would feel weird. Pretty much every person who had said, 'I'm a 30 Hz person, I don't know if I could play it at 60.' When they finally saw it, they said, 'Nevermind, I'm convinced.'
.

You don't get to make 30 fps games for a full generation and then claim 30 fps feels broken just because suddenly you have a full price 'hd' version of an older game to peddle

Meanwhile in the driveclub thread anyone mentioning 60 fps gets a bunch of bile and hate spat in their face

Wow, what a major blow to all these cinematic dudes and 30FPS fanboys who probably never experienced 60FPS games anway.

One thing though - TLOU was never a 30FPS game.

Because everyone has the same opinions, right?

So basically "trust us and just pay $50".

I can look at a 60FPS video and see the improvements just fine thank you very much MR Naughty Dog!

I wonder what GAF would be like if any other developer was trying to pull this kind of bullshit.

Naughty Dog is not just any other developer, my son. :)

He's talking about Uncharted 3, which is about as relevant as Jesus in the context of this thread.
Is he talking about the aiming controls? I really don't have issue with it and ND patched to give a option to these that liked the Uncharted 2's aiming controls.

Well I won't even call a different aiming controls to be broken lol

Or how about you wait for footage. No one is forcing you to buy the game.

I can't believe it. A dev says 60FPS is great when they are releasing a game that runs at 60FPS. Almost as unbelievable as a dev downplaying the importance of 60FPS when they are releasing a game that doesn't run at that magical number.

. Self-serving comments are self-serving.

ND is in transition... internally they had the same debate about 30 vs 60 fps we had here... so just after made the game run at 60fps they faced there is no way to back to 30fps.

You can be sure you will never see a 30fps from ND again in the future.

there were a few early 60fps games on ps3... but then nothing haha

To be fair, if they released a 60fps video with no drops etc, the haters would still say it was cherry-picked to show a certain scenario where it is solid, and says nothing about the rest of the game etc......damned if you do, damned if you don't. :-/

Going by her comments, there are probably small dips. They just aren't noticeable.. Probably ranges 50-60fps. Anways, I don't think they should have said that comment..Because if they can't lock TLOU @ 60fps, then they'll look pretty stupid when UC4 comes out. That game will look far better, and be more demanding. Will they hit 60fps on that, if they can't even lock it on TLOU?

The more we here from here the happier she comes off. Looks like Sony was a better fit for her. I bet Sony is glad to have her on board.
Making posts, duh?

Did Uncharted two look better than one? Do higher budget games generally run and look better than low budget titles? Do games from the ground up generally look better than modified ports from lower hardware? Pick one.

neogaf never disappoints

It's amazing, really. You someone dick waving their PC, people bitching about a popular developer promoting 60 FPS, and a PC gamer jokingly use the term "Naughty Dog" in the title hurts people's feelings. lol

This site is better than this.

I think the aspect worth getting excited about is that there is a Sony first party dev who seems to have had their sights on 60 fps from an early point in time and stayed true with their attempt to achieve that goal. Given that they are the Uncharted 4 dev, this should be a good thing. I would much rather a game run great and look nice as opposed to run sluggish and look wonderful.

I remember playing Uncharted 1, just last November. It was a great experience, but the game was hampered by the sketchy framerate, especially during firefights. Each game was able to improve itself visually, without running worse. Here's hoping that Uncharted 4 will follow the same principles (whether variable 60 fps or capped at 30 fps). I am confident that Naughty Dogs will at least try to push the game as far as they can, hopefully with more emphasis on framerate instead of only visuals.

That's not how things work though. You can't compare a remastered game to one built from the ground up on new hardware. You do understand that much, right?

The game is a port just because PS4 is more powerful don't mean it going to be easy to get a PS3 game running at a locked frame rate .
Either way consoles game don't have a locked frame rate most of time anyway .

UC4 is not a port, TLOUR team is very small with less than a year working on it, etc etc

Shocked that the Tweets between Yoshida and Druckmann haven't been posted yet. Seems exactly what you maniacs are feeding off of.
