McGrady must be so bitter about the state of his career. I'd say he's an afterthought, but that would be giving him too much credit. He's forgotten.

Yeah, instead he just never went further than that round in the playoffs for the rest of his career.

That was the one year Kobe didn't have another all-star on his team and yeah, he handled it like a complete child whilst the rest of the league just moves on.

so basically, he just got really really mad and ran out the best player that he ever had, had an "I'll show you!" year, got mad that he was alone, then took it out on everyone around him. Kobe.

He's still my favorite player, but that doesn't mean that I'm NOT going to say he's made stupid decisions and benefited immensely from playing with great players and coaches his whole career. McGrady broke his back playing with scrubs and Kobe talked shit about rookies in the parking lot and gets anyone who isn't down with him run out of town.
If by winning you mean being an adulterer who raped settled out of court for cheating on his wife and is currently leading a team that's below 500, then sure. Ok.

Kobe stay winning.
lol do you know something we don't? shit

after the whole "2 other men's semen found in her panties" thing came out, settling out of court seemed like winning. also, he wasn't found guilty. its not like ben where he's been to court twice for separate occasions of himself and women... just sayin

lol please

"Thoughts of self doubt Am I done? Is this how my career will end?? I REFUSE to give in to these thoughts. #strongwill #countonchallenges"

I will say, I can't defend that >_>

You could literally apply this to any player including MJ and Lebron.
MJ built the franchise.

LeBron is more talented than anyone ever, but is of weak character.

Kobe's had various great big men to help carry him to championships. He now has Dwight, Gasol, Nash, and is struggling to make the playoffs.

Having dantoni makes your statement irrelevant

I can only give you the years when he was with Shaq, as he wasn't the number 1 guy on the team. Those other 2 ships he had Pau, but what other top 10 player in the history of the game haven't had help? MJ: Pippen, Magic: Kareem, Worthy Wilt: Baylor, West You can literally do this for any star that has won a championship.

It's not like playing with a Power Forward or Center suddenly disqualifies you from being as good a player as others

T-mac should thank Kobe's still talking about him, nobody in the league does.

Raja Bell built his career on fetching his ass on Kobe.

Are you counting on everyone forgetting the "It's on me!" thing from the 2007 playoffs, or did you just forget it?

When McGrady lit the league on fire and lost in the first round, he didn't cry like a nancy in the 3rd quarter of an elimination game then take his ball and go home.

That's the difference between Champions and losers. Champions don't take losing very well. Losers accept it and sink into obscurity.

How bout bosh?

How about him?

More like McGrady and dozens of other great players know that they won't start the season with Shaq next year and instead they'll have to look forward to Pat Garrity and Gordon Giricek.

Championship teams are just that. Teams. MJ had fucking Scottie Pippen ffs. Lebron went to the Heat that had a HOFer in Wade and brought Bosh with him.

I'm not arguing against it taking help to win championships, but some have had/needed more help than others. MJ had Pippen, but he was always unquestionably the leader and built that franchise. LeBron was expected to do the same for Cleveland, but couldn't, and bailed to a super team.

Kobe's Lakers clearly fell off once Shaq left. He wasn't even a serious championship contender again until Gasol came over AND Bynum started to become a presence. I also remember thinking that Gasol could've been awared their last finals MVP.

What are you arguing?

Because non-championship teams are in fact -not- championship teams. Kobe's has played with an abundance of talent for all but maybe 3 years of his career. That doesn't just make winning easier, it makes longevity easier.
Exactly. The Kobe hate is absurd.

lol kobe is my favorite active player

you can't criticize people that you like?

lol how did I know this would be the T-mac Kobe thing.

Heres the full interview btw

This is the more newsworthy part actually. ;)

Why have you only won one MVP?

Because I played with Shaq. It’s that simple. A lot of the time we cancelled each other out. I sacrificed a lot playing with him. I really did. I did it for the success of the team. If I never played with him, my numbers would have been ridiculous.

Also I did not know this:

Usually self-appointed nicknames don’t really stick, but Black Mamba has had real staying power.

Well, actually I didn’t come up with it. I think I was playing ball in the park in New York and they just started calling me that, and it just stuck.

If you can't see the slip you're blind.

Kobe runs his centers out of town, Dwight is going to be his next victim.

Nah Dwight is going to stay for one more year. Hopefully Buss gets over the fact that Phil is giving his sister penis and hires the man. If they don't get Phil back Dwight will be gone after next season. The Lakers biggest problem is that they don't have a coach that can keep all of them in check.

You can nit pick any great player to death, so come on with this silliness. Kobe's career has proven far better than T Mac and the vast majority of NBA players.
First off, Kobe never had to do what KG, McGrady, Iverson, and a lot of that generation had to do because he never had to play 1 on 5 for entire stretches of his career. That's why he's been around for so long. He's only had to put a team on his back for one real season and he was clearly not about that life after seeing how things played out. Saying that Kobe had it easy and able to preserve himself by playing for the Lakers is simply acknowledging a fact. It'd be like saying that QBs have it easier playing in today's NFL and the existence of a "hitters parks" in baseball - these things exist. By not talking about them, you can't make them go away.

"I almost won an MVP with Smush Parker and Kwame Brown on my team"

"I missed the playoffs with Dwight Howard and Steve Nash on my team"

I'd say Iverson is the only one that had a 100% pure garbage supporting cast. KG and McGrady had some decent role players.

"I missed the playoffs with Dwight Howard and Steve Nash on my team"
"I almost won a championship with 4 HoFers on the same team, plus the greatest coach ever. But we lost to a team with no superstar."

The ultimate problem with arguing sports is that it always comes down to woulda-coulda-shoulda.

If you want to go by the book, it's inarguable that Kobe was a much more successful player. Most likely better.

If you want to play the one-upmanship game, then you can debate irrelevant points forever.

No one is saying Kobe didn't take any Ls in his career. But he's a first ballot HoF with a fine ass wife who'll take him back admid many instances of cheating, while McGrady is getting sonned in China.

And he's currently having the best (most efficient) season of his career while the other all-star talent around him is having their worst, and their coach is completely lost.

Players who get the focus of opposing teams more and have to shoulder larger loads of their team's needs breakdown faster.

Madness

Also, lol at "his fineass wife taking him back". Vanessa has Kobe by the balls financially and he knows it.

Does anyone in here believe that Kobe can easily beat Lebron in 1v1? Because kobe said that in the same interview, and that sounded even more absurd than the Tmac comment
