NDS Lite - 3 colors revealed

Is it possible the gba thing just shows it in the process of being inserted? Or is there text to support the sticking-out?

Either way, don't care much. Have an SP for that sort of thing if it pained me.

I wonder if it was done just because of stupidity or maybe a because of negative effects from things like the rumble pak/future cart supplements.

I seriously don't get all the hype over a slightly different piece of hardware that I already own...why does everyone get so excited about buying basically the same Nintendo hardware over and over and over again?

It sticks out one damn centimeter, damn guys. Hardly the end of the world or anything. It looks huge because those are close up photos too.

I suppose NOA might go with flat black since they never released the black DS original over here.

But honestly a navy color that dark is so close to black that you'd really have to look at it to see a difference.

I'm certainly not waiting. I agree I wish they put a second DS card slot in the cartridge plug .... I'd rather carry a second DS game ala Tetris DS or Advance Wars DS rather than a GBA title.

Looks great. Too bad about the GBA slot, but I'm not too upset about it.

Can't decide if I like the Crystal White or Enamel Navy more. I think the Navy by a bit.

The GBA cart do stick out 1CM the slot is only as wide as the bottom on of the GBA cart.

No biggy for me, I only keep a GBA game in ther to fill the slot, the GBA Slot Filler is fine for me.

Overreact much? Jeez!

The GBA carts only stick out a little bit. It won't get in the way while you play. The system is smaller and sexier, so who cares?

True, its only 1cm. I'd rather it be flush with the console, but its not a big deal. I just want to know how the thing feels in your hands, if it has the ergonomics of the GBASP (but without your hands being mashed together) I'll be more than happy.

Huh I dont get it... Someone translate and explain :lol

EDIT: Where they get those shots from :)

Thanks dannie, battery seems a bit better. Hopefully Wifi won't eat it alive though.
I think I'll go with the Navy, looks damn hot in the 3d movie.

The blue one kinda looks like something a woman would use as a maxi-pad travel carrier, doesnt it?

QFT! I was just thinking the same thing: "why does 99% of Nintendo's alternate colors look like pastel-colored feminine hygiene products?"

I can see it now: "Where's my blue DS? Oh here it---no, that's my birth control. Here it is! No, wait, those are my Maxis...damn..."

Wow, the new battery life is awesome.

Brightness level 1: 15-19 hrs
level 2: 10-15
level 3: 7-11
level 4: 5-8
full charge time: 3hrs

Yeah compared to the original DS:

Battery: Lithium ion battery delivering six to 10 hours of play on a four-hour charge, depending on use; power-saving sleep mode; AC adapter

HOLY CRAP!

That is just awesome. Is regular DS brightness 2 or 1? I'm offically keeping mine at 4 all the time.

That is great. My PSP gets no love now... So many damn good games. I'm glad I waited to cop a DS. Now is the time. Now, if I could only find Phoenix Wright, and the rest of the hard to find DS games.

man, i dont think I got a full 10 hours, ever from my DS.

maybe 6, max.

The original DS' reported battery superiority over the PSP was exagerated by nbots.

I'm really glad the new DS fixes the battery life of the original - and can now hold maxi pads.

Super

Well I pulled that from NOA's site. Don't shoot the messenger.

Nintendo's target is make you seal the GBA slot all the time.
They just don't want to see users play GBA any more.
(At least don't play GBA game on DS, go buy GBM!!! :lol )

Who plays GBA games on a DS anyway? Get a micro you losers!

As much as I like the Micro, the slowdown I've seen in Ysohi's Island and Metal Slug Advance is a major bummer. It sucks enough that I'll be getting the Lite and chucking the Micro, the same buttons and screen brightness means that I'm only losing out on the very small form factor.

Yep, that seals the deal for me.

I think that's what they're hoping for. The micro hasn't been selling well. It didn't over take the SP like the SP did to the original GBA.

:lol :lol :lol I think you overestimate just how much pull NoA has with NCL.

Well NOA did manage to put out the classic NES GBASP so you never know.

Yeah, because it's really bright listening to rumours like that.

The only reason I believed it was because black seemed like a no brainer, at least to me. It figures. Only Nintendo could release a system with a variety of colors and forget perhaps the most important/popular one when it comes to electronics...black. Black is far more appealing to most people than either one of those blue colors, especially that ice blue one. That's just plain ugly.

No black is just baffling to me, especially when you take into consideration Nintendo's angle with this redesign (sleek, clean lines, "sexy", etc).

Nintendo keeps saying they want to expand the market. One of the ways they can help to do that is by offering people hardware in a variety of colors that appeal to them. None of these colors appeal to me. If I'm going to spend $150 (I'm guess it will be slightly more expensive than a regular DS) on something and it comes in a variety of colors I'm going to get the color I want and if that color isn't available well... I'm patient. I can wait.

Better design
Better battery life
Lighter
Smaller
Longer Touch Pen / Stylus
Brighter screens

Not much more you can you ask for? :D

I'm really disappointed it won't initially come in black. I was really looking forward to that color, I'm interested in getting a Rev in black as well.

Maybe it won't be too much longer until it comes out. /pointless optimism

So there is no added functionality (ie. wifi pictochat, etc.)?
that rumor said the 3 launch colors are white /black / pink
so now you know, that rumor is totally fake and bs

That doesn't mean we won't get black at launch in the US.
