So, this is a better pic of the "black" one:

I really like the look of the Navy one, maybe even more than the white. I guess it depends how they look in real life though...

What I'd like to know is where does the DS regular brightnes stand with the Lite? So there's four settings, but how many are brighter than the the original?
if its like the micro, the lowest setting will be pretty close to the current ds.

im annoyed by the gba slot sticking out, but still more annoyed that they didnt go with the micro power switch and volume/brightness rocker button thingy setup. none of this hold for 2 seconds to turn off crap, or setting brightness through the ds setup screen junk.

I'm a little upset that there isn't a button for brightness.

And if the lowest setting is = current DS, does that mean that battery life is improved with this model? I heard 18 hours on the lowest setting.

I guess this is how Nintendo makes money. Release an ugly-looking product and the fanboys will eat it up. About a year or two later, release the SAME product but with a sexier-look and the SAME fanboys will eat it up as well.

They did the same shit with the GBA and now they're doing it again with the DS. The fanboys, instead of turning away in disgust, then proceed to embrace Nintendo and love them even more despite the fact that Nintendo has once again screwed them up the ass.

Un-fucking-believable.

So you're not getting the new Dead Sexy Lite?

Just wait until Sony does it with the PSP. They've already done it with the PS1 and PS2.

Atleast it's not like my ps2...

Buy a first edition ps2, breaks a year later (couple months After the fucking warranty was over).

Buy a 2nd Ps2 which ended up breaking (and the sad thing is, I never really moved it or nothing :( ).

End of the story? I don't have a ps2 anymore for FFXII :(

So when do we think Black DSL will come out? November so they can have another rush at the end of the year?

Maybe they didn't have the means to create the LITE to sell at their target price of $150 a year ago. Maybe they couldn't technically DO the LITE a year ago.

For you to assume that Nintendo is milking a product instead of simply improving it is ignorant.

Except that Sony did it near the end of each of those platforms lifespan.

The revisions to the PS1 and PS2 came near the end of their respective life and they weren't butt-ugly (NDS) or had any major inherent flaw (GBA) in the first place.

Mario Baseball. Mario Soccer. Mario Tennis. Mario Golf. Mario Sunshine. Mario RPG. Mario Brothers. Mario Party. Mario Kart. Mario fighting. Mario dancing.

At least Nintendo's system's don't die as often as Sony systems. I don't know anyone with a PS1 or PS2 that didn't "just stop working".

The PS1 had a disc drive that was so unreliable it would only work with the system upsaide down after a while....

I'd call that an inherant design flaw. I'd also call the split "dpad" and inherant design flaw, and they still havent fixed that one.

You're mistaken, those are features. :D

I've never had to turn over my ps1, and the split d-pad is better than the midget-sized piece of shit found on gamecube controllers.

Gamecube is the only Nintendo system with a bad d-pad and it looks like the fixed that problem on the Revolution. Sony hasn't made any attempt to fix the split pad.

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and purchase that pretty little blue one. I think that will bring all the boys to the yard. Very sexy.

In other news, I want a PSP Lite. The original design now sucks in my eyes. <3

N64 sez hello.

I'm tempted to get one, but since besides Mana there's absolutely jack shit coming out on the system in the next six months I'd get to use this gorgeous looking sucker for about one week and then never see it again. Doesn't seem worth it for me until the big DS lineup for 2006 gets announced :\

Now if the system has a super nice screen like the Micro or something that will make all the already released games look way better, that's a different story. But I'm not seeing any indication the screen itself will be any different :\

It does have 4 lvls of brightness.

I was curious about this myself, so...

Super Princess Peach
Metroid Prime: Hunters
Tetris DS
Brain Age

I guess there's not a whole lot I'm looking forward to (well, Rub Rabbits tomorrow :)), but seeing stuff like "Castlevania sequel" and "Phoenix Wright 2" on the TBA 2006 list gives me a nice tingly feeling. :D And I really need some breathing room to catch up...

As for the screen, I could've sworn I read somewhere that it's going to be brighter. Not sure if that translates into "better", but the brightness is supposed to be on-par with the SP v2.

I hope at E3, I'm as shocked and happy as I was in 2005. I couldn't believe how much good DS software was at the show. The PSP better be the same way!

There's Tales of the Tempest and Xenosaga I and II coming. Metroid Prime Hunters in March for US and Tetris DS too. Might not be your cup of tea though. Just saying.

And then there is the ton of games that we have'nt seen that will be annouced at E3

When is Children of Mana due to hit the states?

And Play-Asia said that the power adapter is different to the GB micro one, so I've had to buy a cheap £4 stepdown instead of buying a UK micro charger.

wow! these look really hot! :D

the navy one is my fave, currently, but the white one is hot aswell. decisions, decisions...

the ds has an awesome line-up this year and they'll all be lovely on the lite.

good times :)

Why do we always have to deal with these people in these threads?

It is the way the Japanese business model(kaizen) works. They uprgrade products over time. Look at Sony's entire consumer electronic division. Sony has done it with both of the Playstations, and you can expect the same with the PSP.

I don't see how they are screwing anyone up the ass since you can still stick with you DS which is still working, or upgrade.

And I could personally point out more faults with the PSP design than the DS design.

Forgot about Tempest. That makes two, hmmm....

I think I'll wait until people actually get it and can remark on how much better the brighter screen options make the games look. If it sounds highly improved, I'll jump.

OK ... the navy blue does look sexy .... but I am dissapointed it's not black.

The pics on Nintendo's website make it look black ... oh well. I guess I'll probably get navy blue.

They better have a black Revolution.

The West will probably just get black & white.

Nintendo Of Japan is being super-cunning, and giving people something which will keep them happy but not satisfied. So later they will release black and pink ones, and make Sony cry some more.

Yeah I hope NOA does something about this.

Don't get me wrong, navy blue is elegant and sexy as fuck ... but we already got an electric blue DS here in North America.

I hope NOA goes for white and black.

They fit in there. Nintendo can't be that dumb.

EDIT: WTF NINTENDO!

eh, a lot of people where screaming to drop the GBA cart altogether is the speculation threads, This is an OK compromise IMO, saves space for non GBA users but is also backwards compatible.

I'm gonna go with navy provided it gets released in Europe, due to the smokers yellow that the white looked like in the earlier pics.

AHHHHHHHHH

What the fuck do i get?!

I dont know!

Im so stuck between white and navy blue, i just think the navy blue wont look as sheek and show fingerprints, while the white will look more modern and not a toy..
