I remember back when playing the NES, Vegas Dream was a great gambling game. It not only had decent A.I. in the betting aspect, but it also had different story elements that kept it interesting (like people coming up to you and asking for money while you were betting). Vegas Stakes on the SNES improved and polished the formula and was even more fun to play.
But now, here it is coming up on 2005, and I want my gambling fix again. I'm tempted to try World Championship Poker (would probably get the Xbox version since I have Xbox Live) after reading some recommendations on the board but the reviews haven't been treating it too kindly. I still want to play a lot of it offline and it looks like the computer is modeled off of contestants from the Celebrity Poker Showdown shows.
Are there any games that you can think of that have decent games on them (not only poker) but also have a decent side story that makes it "appear" that you have something to play for instead of just seeing your money get higher. I loved some of the incidents where some of the people on Vegas Stakes would try to steal some of your money and also how some of the lower end casinos were pretty much just decorated outhouses.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
