Need For Speed - EA Access 10 hours trial is available for Download

Did you do this for all races or just the drift ones? I did the other way, halfway between centre and grip... But it feels like shit. Is your way the way most people are doing it?

Don't think so. I just left mine halfway between centre and drift. Feels great. The default feels awful.

frame drop down to ~20 with highspeed cars

Yeah, the further through the game the more issues there are. The engine has performance issues with fast cars. Also the better the car the less unlocks (because they already have things unlocked).

Are these drops related to the stuttering, or is it actually a framerate drop? I'm still early in the game, so I can't speak to the faster cars, but even so the only performance issues I have encountered have been due to the server issues.

Frame drops. There's also server issues, where cars randomly disappear from road right in front of you and such. You can see early examples of frame drops in the video above.

The game looks fantastic by the way. So not wanting to moan about the graphics.

It sounds like they finally brought the wrap editor online. I am completely baffled as to why that stuff is server side.

I counted the events because someone said earlier the game was 75% drifting events, 25% racing...

5 - Circuit Race
22 - Sprint Race
2 - Time Attack
18 - Time Trial
5 - Touge
7 - Drift Contest
8 - Drift Trial
5 - Gymkhana
7 - Drift Train

A lack of events in my opinion but thankfully nowhere near mostly drift events.

I'm only 2hrs 50mins in so far, 14% done overall.
I'm liking it just as much as the beta but still just using my trusty starting Honda so far.

Laughably for an online only racing game there is no proper PvP multiplayer as suspected.
All you can do is find another racer and challenge him, hoping he accepts.
Bit of a joke really considering the lack of single player events, I hope reviews pick up that.

So 79 events in total.....and no PvP online. Wow. This game is going downhill fast for me.

Thank you !
This is the info I wanted to know

I put about four and a half hours into this tonight. I didn't dislike it, but I don't love it either. It's an okay game.

The rubber banding AI is fucking annoying. I'm not super incredible at racing games, but I'm pretty good. But this game wants you to be too perfect, even in easy races. I hate that.

I've been winning pretty much everything, with a few retries here and there due to crashes or not getting to the required speed, but I worry it'll get too hard at the end.

I wish they'd stop calling me with stupid comments.

I may have liked Rivals more so far.

I'm 4.5 hours in, have done 25% of the events, and am at level 20.5. I'm about 27% complete.

You need to embrace your inner breh for this game.

This is basically like a playable version of 2 Fast 2 Furious.

And I'm totally okay with it. Shit is crazy good. Love these cutscenes.

As others have said tune your car more towards drift. Grip has no place in this game, despite your instinct suggesting otherwise the fastest way around a corner in this game is drifting.

I have about 2 hours left. Can't wait until Tuesday to play the rest of the game.

I'm still trying to find that sweet spot, re: tuning. I favour drift, as when I tried full grip it felt tank like. I still want to try mid-level grip, but I doubt it'll be for me.

Sometimes I feel as if the drift setting I have is right, but at other times it's too much.

The Crew Wild Run it is then at least that game is bigger but more to do anyway (beta was pretty awesome what i played) sounds very shallow what this game has to offer.

Hmm, dropping to 27 fps is not really good for a racing game, tbh. The drops to 29 are not that bad but to 27 will be noticable to many, I guess.
Let's be clear, though, until Criterion's Hot Pursuit, NFS games have always run very inconsistently on console. The PSX versions were unlocked and juddery, the PS2 games constantly dropped under 30, same deal with many of the 360 and PS3 titles.

Only Hot Pursuit from Criterion and Rivals achieve a completely stable frame-rate on consoles.

The frame rate has been decent on my end. I've had a few issues, where it's dropped a bit or had a hiccup, for lack of a better term, but nothing incredibly noteworthy.

I've been playing a bit more and it seems to drop below 27fps at times, but the video shows a drop to 25fps at the end too. The game also seems to actually slow down when the frame rate drops. Hopefully the performance is improved by launch.

Oh sure! Noticeable doesn't mean unplayable. Gamers played a lot of games in the past that had bad framerates and people were ok with it.
I still think the game looks quite good, too.

Yep, agree. If you look at many of the classic 360 and PS3 games - not just driving games - they drop frames badly and have screen tearing. Gamers nowadays would be outaged about some of the prior gen classics.

HUD off, the game looks insanely photorealistic when using the cameras that don't show the car in frame (the car models can kill the effect because they are lit differently)

Too be fair the vast majority of people aren't going to care about these minor framerate drops that occur in most games if they notice them at all. The people that get up in arms over occasional 1-5fps drops are a special and rare breed. Hell, most of the people I know that have played AC Unity have never even casually mentioned performance, and that game is on the low end of performance for this generation.

But I do agree with your point. There seems to be a whole lot of revisionist history when considering older games, as most people don't ever revisit them. I saw someone in another thread say that 60fps was the standard two generations ago, and that is just laughable.

10 hours almost up. My only real complaint with the game are the cops. Why is there only one single cop chasing you and why is he driving like he doesn't have a driver license? They are so easy to evade and the chases are pretty boring as a result. It also takes too much time to increase the heat to get roadblocks and stuff.

RE: Rubberbanding. Whoever is saying this game has too much Rubberbanding is crazy bad at racing games. Stop sucking. You can smoke the competition with clean driving and drifting through the corners. I guess some people can't play racing games without rewind anymore huh?

Anyway Rubberbanding is there but very little. Especially compared to Rivals.

LOL i hope this is not serious.

How far did you get in the game?

Oh, I agree on all points. 99.9% of players won't know what fps is, or POV, or care. All people really care about is how good the games feel to play.

Whut? Rubber banding is due to us sucking? As someone who has platinumed driveclub...arguably one difficult racing game I can tell you this. NFS is fucking frustrating.

So frustrating that my initial review of 8 up until the last 80-90% is now a 5 after experiencing the end game content. It is so unfair and relies on luck rather than skill. I went from playing a 5 hour session to shelving the game. Even after going back and trying again the same thing is happening and I almost lost my shit. I said fuck it, turned it off and swear never to reply again until its patched. Its fucking broken. I give it a 5 now and have ZERO interest in ever booting it up again. I honestly have nothing to look forward to when playing it anymore and im fed up. The first 70% was an easy 8-8.5 and I was going to buy it for PS4. I cancelled my order for it on friday.

This talk about the end game content scares me, since I'm not incredible at racing games and the rubber banding is a pain already.

Most Wanted was too difficult, and the original Most Wanted got crazy difficult at the end.

I'm level 11 and have unlocked a decent amount of visual customization options but no actual parts for them: side skirts, Fender flares, etc. Am I missing something? What is the point of unlocking them if you have to also unlock the parts separately?

Most Wanted 2012 also did not have enough content..you got a new car? Well good luck you need to level up again also doing all trials, races etc to even get better at it. MW 2005 was hard yeah but at least i enjoyed it more.

I platinumed Driveclub as well, and I can say that while the game is frustrating, it never reaches the epic levels of rubberbanding frustrations of Driveclub. Seems like Evolution just prefers to design their racers in that manner.

Both games require to drive at near perfection and in the case of NFS, you have to continuously upgrade your cars or get better ones.

I really liked Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2005. It was a great game. Its requirements just got too insane at the end, and I couldn't best one of its latter challenges so I hit a brick wall. It was disappointing getting to the end and not being able to complete a game I liked a lot.

I hope that won't happen here.

These comments may make it seem like I suck at racing games. I don't. But when they require near perfection like this one has so far -- at least on my end -- they can be tough. I've beaten The Run, Hot Pursuit, Rivals and Carbon.
