The Need for Speed soundtracks are fueled by a legacy like no other. We’ve introduced landmark tracks such as Snoop Dogg & The Doors’ ‘Riders on the Storm’, Terror Squad’s ‘Lean Back’, Chemical Brothers ‘Go’ and Chiddy Bang’s ‘Opposite Of Adults’.

New music, along with exclusive remixes by Eagles of Death Metal, Pharrell, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Calvin Harris, 30 Seconds to Mars, TV on the Radio, Xzibit, The Black Keys, and hundreds more that have helped define the sound of Need for Speed over the years.

Its long-awaited return represents more than just the next chapter in the series. Need for Speed Payback is a reinvention of the entire Need for Speed soundtrack experience.

Need for Speed Payback has a soundtrack that follows no rules, defies the odds, owns its roads, and does it all with soul, grit and edge that is wholly independent of genre, era and mainstream restrictions. In other words, this is the full-throttle soundtrack that will leave all others in its dust.

Whether it's creating your perfect car, pulling off insane heist missions, outrunning high-speed police pursuits, or just cruising the open world, the games’ distinct car classes – as well as its garage, all feature their own unique soundtracks.

Need for Speed Payback also features a sleek and ominous original score by composer Joe Trapanese, best known for blockbusters like The Raid, Tron: Legacy, The Divergent Series: Insurgent and Allegiant, and Straight Outta Compton.

I found the soundtrack kinda disappointing. I do quite like the Unholy War song by Jacob Banks and I'm quite curious about the original score by Joe Trapanese. I don't know any of these artists though, there are just a few I recognize.

I know Tom Morello and Queens well. I've heard RTJ before. The rest... fuck if I know.

There's never any good metal in racing games. Totally a place for a few songs too but it so rarely happens.

not feeling the soundtrack, where's my hard house kicks at

Seriously, this soundtrack is bloated with songs instead of picking stuff that gotcha in the first fifteen seconds pumped to race

Mondo Cozmo, The Amazons, and Royal Blood are good picks - but I can't say I'm super excited about the majority of the set here.

Nothing But Thieves?? Damn, that's awesome. The song they picked is killer, too.

Definitely up for trying this out on EA access.

For people who don't recognise the artists, it's mainly trendy rock with some hip-hop/garage/EDM thrown in.

Skepta & Goldie in a Need For Speed is pretty funny.

This is 100% down to taste but man I miss the days racers had a lot of rock, metal and punk in their soundtracks.

Edit: That's a lot of licensing fees haha

Nothing has defined and shaped my music taste more than racing games. I can literally trace my changing tastes through the racing games I played through the years. I think it's because tracks on repeat + fast speeds makes them stick with me.

Wipeout 3 = electronica
Gran Turismo 3 = light indie
Burnout 3/Revenge = Indie, then rock/metal
Burnout Paradise = old school rock
Need For Speed Most Wanted/Hot Pursuit: Bassy pop/dance
Forza Horizon 3 = dance/pop

It's ALL been developed through my racing games.

Will 10/10 buy this new NFS day one.

Will need for speed ever have a great licensed soundtrack again? post pro street it has been mediocre, according to my music taste, I do like most music genres and yet I can barely find a song that I liked in most NFS games sins shift. Thanks for spotify I guess.

And Most wanted 2005 had a fantastic mix of rap, rock and electronic music, hell even the original soundtrack was great.

But maybe when I play payback I'll like the music or a few tracks.
