NeoGAF Candy Swap

sorry for not being to up to date on this, i hope my partner receives his package soon. I have just been super busy with uni, i basically had a had massive assignment thrown on me and told i have 1 week to do it, then i suffered a techological disaster and lost like half my work... the day it was due.

But Tmaynard was soo generous its really been keeping me going... :D :D
I spent alot of time thinking about what to put in his (first time i went shopping with a list, haha) so i hope he enjoys it.

My partner has got the stuff I sent (according to the tracking service) but I haven't heard from him or recieved a package. But I don't think there is any reason to be suspicous about anything yet. He sounded serious with this and I'm hoping I will get a package any day now :)

Kinda depressed that I still haven't seen my package from Baka Zeitgeist, but at least he got my package safely.

I would still totally do this again if I had the chance, as this was a lot of fun.

Sadly, I never got to try it... Right after I shipped your package they stopped selling it here. haha

I hope you guys get your packages soon. If you can figure out what caused the delay, be sure to let us know and we can try to avoid those problems with the next swap we do.
 
Well I'm gonna give up hope on my package reaching Auron_Kale cause it was sent out on the 14th of March and while Airmail is supposed to be 5 - 7 days it looks like it got lost. I was so proud that I managed to get a bunch of stuff together, and get it sent off in good time. I was expecting him to get his package before anyone else here did.

I know it's the postal services fault but I still feel like shit, he got bronchitis and still managed to get a box of candy sent off to me.

I'll be sending a second package out this weekend.

So I guess the only thing that went wrong here is I used Airmail and didn't pay for a better shipping service, or one of his co-workers decided that a box of UK chocolate was worth taking...

If any of 'em smell like Jaffa Cakes punch 'em.

Other then this mishap it's been fun, I had a good partner and the communication was great...

Oh yeah, it's not pictured because i put it in the fridge right away! :D
I haven't even tried it yet, but i plan on posting some of my impressions of the candies in this thread after i finish them all off.

Major props to drPepper! To his credit, his candy showed up totally on time about a week ago and I've been too busy to get online and put the picture up :) I have nothing but praise for my swapper and would gladly participate again. I asked for spicy and sour (SAUER!) candy and he totally delivered. Oh, and I got all this awesome ginger-ale tasting pop made by Coca-Cola. Crazy! Those Lach Gummi things are spectacular as well :o

Thanks again! And count me in for next time :D
 
I sent out a second package to Auron_Kale today, and made sure it had insurance, so hopefully before the weeks out he'll be eating Jaffa Cakes. I still got my fingers crossed the first package will turn up, in which case he should be in UK candy heaven :lol

The candy in the front reminds me of the Honey Comb cereal here in the states.

I'm surprised my package got to my partner so quick without any problems. I was prepared for bad things.

My candy should be here this week and I'm pumped. Just gotta call my dentist and get my teeth detoxification scheduled. :lol :lol :lol

My package finally arrived!

I'm keeping it all sealed up until my buddies can come over and enjoy the goods with me.

We're going to attempt a video and I'll definitely post some pics once we open it.
 
My package from Baka Zeitgeist has arrived! You're absolutely awesome and thanks again for your generosity! I can't wait to dig in to the Jaffa Cakes! It's funny because I just had a dental appointment this morning :D (no cavities).

Oh, hell yes, I've been checking this topic daily hoping this second package reached you this time, and like I said in one of the PM's, there was no way I could just go " Oh, well the package got lost in the mail".

I'm still sorry the first package didn't reach you, as it had twice as much stuff in it, and had more variety.

The clear wrapped tan looking bar is Lee's Tablet which is never gonna be as nice as the real homemade Scottish Tablet but it's the only thing my wifes family suggested was as close as you could get. The clear wrapped dark chocolate bar is Lee's Mint bar which is sorta just a York Peppermint Patty in bar form.

There's the Cadbury Caramel Egg which is mostly an easter only thing here, the Ritter Sport Peppermint bar which is German, the E.Wedel milk chocolate Strawberry bar which I think is Polish, and the Jaffa Cakes which you asked for by name.

It's been fun, tmaynard make sure you take some of the mishaps that happened here into account if you set another one of these up.

When we officially start one up again you'll post where you're from and where you're looking to get candy from. Then the forum gods will match us up with eachother and we'll then exchange PMs to swap addys.

I don't know if they're ready to start up round 2. I still think people are waiting for their round 1 candy

If anyone had specific problems that they feel that should be shared, please PM me so I can include them in the next one so we can avoid them!

Also, just like before, expect to have more US swappers than anywhere else. So, some people will have to be matched with a US swapper.

So i got my packaged but i had a short break for the last couple of days
and haven't been able to upload some pictures.
Candies vary from great to interesting to "what am i actually eating?".
I got a lot of picky friends who will all get their try, but i don't think they want to :D

I'm afraid there's no pictures cause my camera broke but I finally managed to try the stuff from lil' smoke and this stuff is awesome :D OHMYGODILOVESWEDISHFISH. The ginger sweets were a particularly awesome surprise, though I'm afraid I don't quite have the courage to try the coffee ones. Thank you and apologies for the delay!
 
Got my haul from PrivateWHudson today, and it really was a haul. He went so far and above the Call of Duty that Infinity Ward should make a game based on him. Heres a picture of what is going to make me one fat(ter) bastard in the coming months..

Painey sent some great stuff as well! I absolutely loved the Bueno stuff, and Jaffa Cakes were bizarre at first, but by the end of the pack I was addicted.

The handwritten note was an awesome personal touch as well. There was some more, but I ate some before getting around to taking a picture:

Got my stuff from Cloudwalking today. Pics coming... I'm trying not to eat it before then... but I've snuck a few bites. And I'm totally dominating this bag of "Spruso" that has some sort of mild neuro-toxin that, well, is just swell.
 
When is this going down again? I'd like to be a part of it next time. I'd like to partner with anyone who isn't in the US or Mexico (unless you have something exotic). Basically I would prefer anything I can't just walk down the street and buy myself. That's my only request.

Smoke did you ever recieve anything? If not, that really sucks. $120 on shipping PLUS candy costs and nothing?

So I mentioned to Akia that my wife and I like Fruit Splosions...

Really happy with the haul. The Splosions should last a while and there was a pack of Count Choocula in there as well, which was an awesome surprise. The Jones candy is cool too.

This was a great idea. Pity the shipping wound up screwing so many people.

And now to start eating.

Have you people tried Bonobons?

They're made by ARCOR here in Argentina, and come in different flavours (such as peanut butter, chocolate, etc).

Those are amazing... (but I'm biased, I'm from Argie). And you can get them in other countries (e.g. NZ)
