Neogaf, please help the Halo community

Have to agree it's a lost cause. I thought this was 10 times the disaster that No Mans Sky was. Sean Murray posting in Off Topic would go over great.

This probably isn't gonna do a thing. Sorry, OP.

It's unfortunate that the MCC turned out like this, but all you can really do is move on. Same thing with something like No Man's Sky.

Not really the same at all. NMS has been patched like 10 times. it's not buggy, just disappointing.

This is a stupidly famous multiplayer game that deserves better treatment.

I don't consider those patchwork BTB maps technically impressive by any means. Shame how that mode has been treated.

It's the most impressive map/game creator in a console game to date. Whether or not you think resources should have been poured into BTB instead of Warzone/Warzone Assault is beside the point the person you are replying to is trying to make.

I use MCC to play through all the campaigns, so I'm not too invested in the multiplayer. I felt like the only one of my friends who wasn't really THAT excited about the multiplayer being added. Either way, I hope they fix it for those who would like to play online.

Halo is dead. 343i killed it. They're just interested in serving the echo chamber that they pay attention to now.

I'd advise you to come to the understanding that 343i is incapable, and had no interest in, making another quality Halo game.

The future of Halo is just slot machine gambling and MLG sellout tournaments.
Please don't post dumb bullshit like this when Halo 5's community is still thriving. The mechanics are fucking superb. Show me anyone who disagrees and I'll show you a willfully uninformed contrarian.

Halo 5 is an incredible turnaround after the disappointment of Halo 4. I thought Halo 4 very possibly marked the end of everything I loved about the franchise, then 343 went and proved me wrong with Halo 5 and truly great EU content like Hunt the Truth and Saint's Testimony. I'm so tired of people ignoring the major strides 343 have made to correct their earlier misfires.

Maybe it's good they've alienated Halo's touchiest fans though. People who won't acknowledge when things are improving aren't going to offer worthwhile feedback anyway.

Totally agree. Well said.

Lol, bullshit.

Halo 5 is amazing.

I don't even believe they can fix that piece of shit.

This. MCC must be a coding nightmare, you fix a bug and 10 more will pop up, all worse than the one you fixed. I imagine the only way to fix it would be to rewrite the entire game from the beginning.

i dont agree, but probably because i judge on the game from a different perspective
its competitive aspect is just trash, Halo used to be a highly competitive shooter but 343i continued to make it more and more casual with each sequel
343i said they want to get back to the Halo roots hence i compare Halo 5 with CE which by far had the best competitive aspects (or H2/H3)

- hitboxes are much larger than the character models (and that is not just because of the low tickrate)
- killtimes in general are way too high (escaping via sprint/thrusting is too easy, killtime should counter that)
- no real weapon balance with a go to utility weapon, everything is rock paper scissor between different weapons
- maps are poorly designed for a competitive layout
- controller aim mechanic is terrible, having a velocity jump in the upper analogstick region is anything else than clever and no other Halo had that before (even with their aim mechanic update and low acceleration profile its still bad)
- online matchmaking server assignment doesnt ping players to find the closest server for the matchmaking party but instead uses a random server that roughly lies within the partys region which often isnt the closest possible server
- terrible spectator mode that makes watching Halo esport fairly boring

yeah from a casual point of view i have to agree, the game is really fun with warzone and all that stuff which really improved the game
but compeititive-wise the game is not really enjoyable and lacks a lot when compared to CE, Halo 2 or Halo 3

I can tell you it's absolutely not fun to play as a casual gamer with this game. Lower AIM assist from previous Halo makes it harder to get into this game, really.

Sound design makes this game way to SF to enjoy it on a casual way.

Map design is really really bad, so many corridors and a few open areas.

It tooks to much time to get Infection and Action Shack. Now it's here, but the gamefeel doesn't appeal to me anymore so I'm not enjoying those playlists as I could. Race and King of the Hill are not even in this game.

Warzone Firefight is unbalanced in a bad way.

Trust me, casual gamers are not having fun with this game, the few I know are playing custom games with the Forge, which is the Halo 5's number one feature I have to admit, but still, they get easily bored with the gamefeel.

Amen.

Seeing this thread I decided to try MCC again. Of course I needed a patch since I hadn't played in close to a year. But what happens? The patch fails to install (what?) stopping at about 90%. Then I try to relaunch the game and it fails to even launch giving me more errors. This game sucks.

I recently went through some of the campaign stuff and I ran into no issues. Not trying to suggest multiplayer doesn't have problems as I didn't really bother trying it, and obviously bugs can affect some people and not others, but I'll at least vouch for the Halo 4 and Halo 2 campaigns running solid.

It's officially dead the moment they removed split screen.

I don't know if I'd call it dead, but I've played less Halo 5 for sure since you can't play split screen. I play more MCC at this point, because the only time I really play is with friends when they come over.

What's most upsetting about the multiplayer issues with MCC is that the Halo 2 Anniversary multiplayer is basically the best classic style Halo gameplay ever. It's so fucking good that it almost makes me forgive them for remastering Ascension even though it's the worst map in all of Halo

I have not touched the MCC in a long time. If I ever went back it would have been just for the Singleplayer content which I believe has been fixed already (there may still be a few bugs but nothing game breaking).

I love Halo 5, but every once and a while I'd love to play some CE/2 and would like MCC to work properly when I attempt to do so.

Most of the time it has worked for me recently, but I know others have had a lot more issues.

Voted. MCC is one of my go to games for when I host Game nights. The issues that pop up with just trying to play with 2 Xbox Ones in the same room are really annoying. I can't speak to online, but I really wish they would fix this.

Precisley.

Dude outright said he is biased against sprint and go on a makes a whole video explaining his bias. I dont like sprint, but this sprint debate needs to die with fire and people need to accept s here to stay, this mechanic has been present in half of the mainline Halo games already.
