Neogaf Rock/Indie/Alt Music Thread (RockGAF?)

New James Blackshaw is incredibly beautiful and moving. Dude's made such subtle shifts in his style over the years that it's almost jarring to realize I've been listening to his work for over a decade and only now has he decided to start singing.

New Courtney Barnett is streaming on iTunes radio. I like it a lot!

edit: also for anyone who uses iTunes, the album is only $5.99 on there. Went ahead and pre-ordered it so I could get Depreston.

New Death Cab is pretty good on first listen. I like it. Though it didn't had quite the impact that Courtney and Sufjan had on me lately.

I just realized next week we see the release of new Sufjan Stevens, Lower Dens, Death Grips and Godspeed You! Black Emporer. What a crazy week.

Anyone here listen to Elbow?

I really enjoy

-Grounds for Divorce
-Lippy Kids
-The Night Will Always Win

by him.

They're with five in total. Even more when performing live. The Seldom Seen Kid and Leaders of the Free World are my favourite albums by them. They're quite alright.

Yeah, my bad I was just thinking of the singer. The Seldom Seen Kid is really good too.

Sleater-Kinney was really good. They played 95 minutes and about everything from the new album was played. And a good mix of older songs.

This was pretty much what it was like for on Tuesday. They played Light Rail Coyote which I wasn't expecting at all. It was pretty fucking great. And the crowd was really into it (last time I was in Manchester was to see Sonic Youth and the crowd was just crap).

Definitely need them to come back in the future.

Anyone else into this band Bully? I can't stop listening to the handful of songs they've put out, ended up buying their EP on iTunes. Thankfully they have a debut album coming out in June.

Her voice is so great.
Loved that song I Remember that got a lot of blog hype but I've only listened to one of the tracks from the EP so far. good stuff
Oh yeah i've been meaning to listen to this band since there's a free gig in Paris in a few month.

Their live on KEXP is great.
Ah nice I always enjoy KEXP videos. thanks

Lol, all those NME comments under Bully videos. They tipped an interesting band for once. Fun band anyways, nothing special but their debut could potentially be my summer jam.

Currently really digging the new album from Balthazar (Thin Walls). Also the debut LP of STUFF. Both Belgian groups. And Dilate by Vessels.

Oh and this morning I bought a ticket for Modest Mouse

Almost off my radar but finally back, Westkust will release their debut album on april 22! I just checked the date and it seems I got their Junk EP (which is really great) on july 27, 2012. I'm so happy they finally come up with an album.

They're a Swedish band heavily influenced by shoegaze/dreampop. I recommend everyone who's into stuff like Slowdive to check this band out.

Junk EP songs
Westkust - Surf
Westkust - Alan Life

For the first two singles of the album you can check out their bandcamp page.

I like them! Looking forward to the album now.

I know there are Iceage fans around who might be interested in Elias' other band Marching Church putting out an album tomorrow. His comment about taking inspiration from David Bowie and Sam Cooke on this sound appealing, but then again, I love Birthday Party/Nick Cave and hated that last Iceage album, so...

The Circa Waves EP is an absolute joy. Album came out in the UK the other day and am anxious to hear it.. hopefully a US release is imminent.

Happyness is a really cool band, esp. if you like Pavement.

They're opening for Drenge in Paris later this month, cool stuff.
