1.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End : The greatest developer making another installment in one of my favourite franchises, and one that promises to be the best yet. The influence from TLoU is felt, the environments are more multi-tiered, and stealth appears to be a legitimate option now. What's not to be excited about?
2.
The Order: 1886 : This game is such a visual extravaganza that I'm sold on it from the vistas, the mo-cap, the obscene amount of detail and overwhelming atmosphere it generates alone. As long as it plays competently at the very least, I know I'll love this. Steampunk, airships, werewolves, gore, gaming's most vicious shotgun and moustaches - day one.
3.
Yakuza 5 : I've been relishing the chance to play this for two years now, and I all but gave up hope of that happening some months ago. But after the localisation news last week, this shot right back up to the top of my list. Huge fan of the series, and I hear this is one of the best entries yet, so bring it.
4.
Rime : The sort of game seemingly tailor-made for me. Gorgeous art direction, a paradisiacal island to explore, and no combat. There's a quaintness to it and also a childlike sense of wonder that you just don't see enough of in video games, at least not on this kind of budget.
5.
No Man's Sky : A game this ambitious is impossible to ignore; everything about it just seems so limitless. I honestly don't know how they're going to pull it off, but I look forward to seeing them try and finding out for myself.
6.
Batman: Arkham Knight : Liked Asylum, loved City. It'll be great hearing Kevin Conroy back in the saddle again, and also not having to square up against The Joker for once. And the world itself is humongous compared to previous entries.
7.
Until Dawn : Heavy Rain goes horror. That's all the incentive I need to check this out.
8.
Bloodborne : Demon's Souls wasn't my bag, but this looks different enough to warrant my time. I like the whole gothic aesthetic of it, but more than that, I like how much more fast-paced and offensive it is compared to other Souls' games. This could backfire on me big time, but for now I'm enticed.
9.
Hellblade : I'm very fond of Ninja Theory after Enslaved and DmC, so I'm eager to play whatever it is they've got lined up next, even if this particular project is still very early in development.
10.
Persona 5 : Hated Persona 3, loved Persona 4 Golden, I'm hoping this is more like the latter. It'd be nice if Atlus ditched the randomly-generated dungeons and made the game half as long this time, but I'm not holding my breath. Still, I have a colourful cast and wacky premise to look forward to I'm sure.
Omitted the likes of The Last Guardian, Gravity Rush 2, Mirror's Edge 2, Final Fantasy XV, Silent Hills and ABZU, because god knows when any of them are coming out. Didn't count any remasters either, otherwise Grim Fandango would have undoubtedly been near the top.
