Nerds and Fedoras

In college my friend thought he was Indiana Jones so he wore a stupid hat and leather jacket and tan slacks everywhere. I don't know what goes through these peoples minds.

How about " I'm so doing this to fuck with other people's heads"? It's part of why I enjoy them

Same. I'm actually not much of a hat person, but I'll sport the above mentioned hat (don't know what it's called), or a tuque.

I'm with you. Don't wear hats much anymore, but that style (always heard it called an Irish or flat cap) is something I enjoy wearing on cold or windy days.

I think I could pull one off. The problem is getting the rest to match, and I'm not going anywhere that important. I wish I was.

I definitely differ. I find it quite more amusing and enjoyable to wear stuff that's not the norm. I'm just assuming I don't look good in it, but that's fine. It's just enjoyable "peacocking" every once in a while. Or all the time.
That's cool, just not for me generally. I don't care if people want to wear whatever they want to wear. Unless they are backward and upside down visors or mirrored sunglasses on the back of their heads. I guess what I'm saying is I fucking hate Guy Fieri.

I see nerds try and rock this shit way more to try and hide the fact they're nerds. Nothing funnier than seeing this dude in a bar or club.

Fat guys wear this a lot. Remember on the Simpsons when Homer became obese and he said "I've got to put on my fat guy hat"? It was similar to that one.

But fedoras are very hard to pull off, especially considering the only real modern exposure we have to it are historical photographs and things like film noir. They shaped our perception of the type of people who wear fedoras (weary middle-aged men with leathery faces and a smoking habit). Another big one is that fedoras weren't just worn with a t-shirt, it matched the outfit. However, even if people do try to match the outfit and fedora, it just comes off as trying too hard. A lot of suits are probably not even custom made, and man it was a revelation when I had my first custom suit. It's amazing how well it fit compared to something off the rack.

Maybe he just liked that style and didn't give a shit about impressing strangers.

Alright, because I'm morbidly curious:

This is me in a hat, sans glasses.

What say you, GAF?

Goes well with your attire, and matches your accessories, further given your context, it's a perfect fit.

This is the kind of logic that everyone else wearing fedoras must have.

Hint:
Unless you're a private detective in the 40's, there is no right context.

I mean I put as many filters as I could think of and this is the best it gets, let this be a lesson to you.
