Netflix now on Irish & UK PSN/XBL

I missed the whole crisis!

Which is good, as I was only 4 episodes into Day Break.. and I wanted to finish that.

...guys, Day Break is awesome. Not the Christine Bleakley one - that's shit.

Is it safe for me to switch between DNS servers to access UK/US content on the same PS3?
There's loads of good stuff on the US one but I started watching Nighty Night (awesome dark comedy) on the UK one, and it's only on there atm

Is anyone else getting really old B+W obscure movies on the homepage on PS3 on the US content?

There's like 1 or 2 new stuff on each genre but the rest is all old B+W movies :/

i tried this netflix thing, it didn't work with the playmo.tv dns, when trying to activate account says 'internal application error'

But tried with the unblock-us dns trial and worked. Seems a good dial but only 75 tv shows? does it have dexter? i could not find it, or maybe it is a limitation of the free month trial?

UK Netflix has series 1 and 2 of Dexter. US version doesn't have it, for some reason. I was hoping they'd have the later series but they don't have any.

Been tempted to try getting Netflix from Australia using unblock-us or playmo. From what I gather from this thread, you don't have to pay a monthly fee in order to use these sites' DNS tricks for PS3 (I take it because they can't change the app to show their own log-in screen like they do on computers).

Tried signing up for Netflix today though but the transaction got blocked by my bank company, so I'll need to deal with that first.

Showtime are currently trying thier own streaming thing in the US - so some of their bigger shows got pulled from Netflix once their contracts ended (Weeds will probably be next). The app is not getting too well received though (from what I read), so maybe they will give up and work with Netflix again.

It a pity the US seem to be going backwards with their stuff - with all the companies splitting of into different options.

There are more shows than the 75 listed in the app, you just need to search for the title.
It does narrow it down once you watch more things too, under 'similar' list it will have stuff outside of the 75 listed on the front page

The offering is pretty patchy though I agree, some series have only earlier seasons of stuff where some inexplicably only have later seasons and no beginnings - and film sequels with no original films

Does Netflix get updated weekly? How much content do they add per update?

Netflix US gets random updates. Netflix UK/Ire is unknown (has not happened in a week and hald since launch)

@tzare There are multple seasons of multiple TV shows... 1820 separate seasons of various shows says Instawatcher (although that might be in inflated number as the site lists some stuff twice). The best way to find a show is to use that site, then just search on Netflix. Make sure you keep rating stuff as you watch, and then you will get some decent recommendations.

Main reason I am still using the UK Netflix! :) Although once I run out of UK only content I guess it will be back to US Netflix.

I've been using Tunnelbear to access the US content. It's a really easy to use app and they offer 500MB a month free.

What I've found is that if I turn the Tunnelbear on get redirected to the US site and start streaming the content I want I can then turn Tunnelbear off and it'll continue to stream normally without hitting the free data cap.

Hey thanks for the top tip. Its a nice and easy solution for me as I have my PC hooked up to my TV and it seemed to work a treat. (You get 1gb if you advertise them via Twitter for that month too, mine bumped up to 1gb almost right away! According to the website you can do this once every month aswell so its not just a one off thing... nice.

The DNS "trick" is just changing your Console/Android/iPad network settings to the following

Primary DNS 208.122.23.22
Secondary DNS 208.122.23.23

...and maybe deleting the App and reinstaling if you get an error. No need to download/change anything on PC, unless you want to access the US website/

getting netflix unavailable error when doing this on ipad... what am I doing wrong? works fine on 360

This thread is dead since we can get US content, but I just want to say I want to see Monkey Dust on UK Netflix. Make it happen now!!!

Started watching White Collar. Good show... at least for the first few but I'm already becoming bored of it. Doesn't seem to be getting anywhere fast. No real reason to keep me hooked, other than the main star being eye candy.

Is there any news on the HDCP issue?

When I try and play a film through Netflix, I get an error saying that due to a protection issue, I cannot watch the content. Not only that, but since the update I cannot watch DVD's, and get a similiar error message.

Looking around the net, I see other people are having similiar problems, but can't find any official word from Microsoft. It's a real shame, because I really do want to use this service, but I'm going to have to cancel it after my free trial.

It also means I no longer have a way to play DVD's.

So those folks that have signed up for the free trial. Are you going to continue.
I think I am.

i have a question on the DNS trick on PS3.

Will this impact my online gaming? Will i be put on US servers when playing MW3 for example? I seem to hear a lot of american accents lately and i seem to be getting a bit of delay when shooting (and die more than usual).

I ended up subscribing, at least for this month. There's still some shows I'll probably watch before I've exhausted all it's resources. I certainly got my moneys worth from my free trial so it was only fair I kept it going a bit longer.

Currently watching The Colony which I've finding very entertaining.

The UI definitely needs improving though. Being able to customise what shows on the home screen would be a start. At least the Sports genre section has finally disappeared off the home screen for me.

A little OT:

How do I set up unblock us on the iphone, I don't get that "separate with commas" part on their website.

Step by step for a dunce would be awesome :)

You just put the address they gave you in here

So, it would be something like xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

I do believe the code is the same for everyone... it works for me currently. Three things to try, which might help.

1. If you are logged into Netflix before you change DNS, then log out (I think the button is all the way at the bottom) before you make the change.
2.Try deleting/redownloading the app after you make the DNS change,
3. Turning off/on the iPhone after you make the change

All this combined should make sure the iPhone is looking it the right place for the content, and not getting mixed up with the old info.

Still works for me :S I usually switch between unblock-us and playmo, when one doesn't work the other is usually fine.

Is there any new on UK netflix? Look like it haven't update since first day.

At least I use HMA to log in US netflix.

Seven seasons of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia was the sole really big update... there were a few other little things to like smaller documentaries I think
