New Hardware, huh? To play these old games? It'd have to be something closed off like a Flashback (I already have 3, that's enough), or like a thing that connects to a downloadable service, I'd wager. There has to be a chance to make money from this otherwise I can't see a reason for this.
Like, it'd be awesome if they were to release a retron5-like system that had slots for all atari systems, but I don't see how they could make enough money from that. Although, I guess that way they wouldn't have to pay for licenses for like Kaboom or Pitfall.

They've been at it much longer than that. Atari Kingsway and Silverstar systems had 64 and 128 games built in in the mid to late 80s

The specs of the Jaguar 2 would have put it well above the PS1 at the time. If I remember correctly the TOM Graphics chip in the prototype was capable of 120 odd MIPS and ran at 64 mhz both of which were about x2 the PS1. Of course it and Atari were DOA at the time

There have been at least six "NES Classics" for Atari to date; they're called the Atari Flashback and they're decent.... but another's hardly news... and a wristband/wearable? No one could possibly think that's an idea that would sell, could they?

The only way I'd be interested in any kind of Atari Flashback device or collection is if it contained a healthy selection of Lynx and Jaguar games as well. I know most of them suck but that would be far more tempting to me than yet another 2600/5200/Early Arcade deal. Hell, I'd prefer to see a collection crammed with most of the 7800 releases for a change.

The PS4/Xbox One has had a couple of Flashback compilations with 50 games in each so it may well be another Flashback TV box a they generally had around 100 games in them. The RRP in the UK for the TV boxes has been in the £49.99 area.

I don't think so. The Flashback 7 was on the scene since last September. Plus, even the most smarmy PR shill would have to really play loose with his words to call the next Flashback console "new hardware."
I'm sure we'll be disappointed tomorrow morning but I doubt it will be with another Flashback.
