Yeah, over 200 posts in that thread since I first posted this stuff.Metalmurphy said:We already knew all of the things in the OP a few days ago. It's in the main thread.
Well, Bad Company was created as a way to get Battlefield to work on consoles, so there's pretty much your answer for why things were changed. Although it's not just "this is too complex for consoles", I think it's more that they believed console gamers wanted a more action and infantry oriented game hence that's what BC focuses on. I don't think there's any reason a full Battlefield game wouldn't work well on consoles as long as console gamers are willing to play such a game.Donos said:Ok thanks guys. BC2 is the only BF i played so far online (not counting my lan days with BF1943 hundred years ago)
The BF2 features sound good. Did Dice state why they toned it done in BC(2) ? Not to "casual" friendly? Maybe a mix between BC2 and BF2 would be good ?
I hope i can save my class loadout in BF3 (and different ones). I just hate that this isn't possible in BC2.
Donos said:The loadout stays but i mean that i want to set up a "custom loadout 1" etc. like in COD4. I often play Recon with G3 and C4 but sometimes i have to change to GOL and then i also have to change to mortar. After 3-4 rounds i want to go back to my CQ Recon loadout and have to change everything back.
Don't tell me this is in BC2, that would be embarrassing![]()

Not since one of the larger patches, but it was a pain in the beginning.Ikuu said:BC2 always forgets my loadouts.

* There will be no ziplines or grapple hooks
Donos said:it takes really almost no effort to allow saving different custom layouts and maybe let me name them. Well, lets see.
Yeah, they were both in the Special Forces pack for BF2.notjackbauer said:This had never crossed my mind, but now I'm disappointed. What's the deal with this? Were they featured in a previous iteration?
They were in Special Forces I think.notjackbauer said:This had never crossed my mind, but now I'm disappointed. What's the deal with this? Were they featured in a previous iteration?
Were they awesome?Darkshier said:Yeah, they were both in the Special Forces pack for BF2.
Ive only played one or two matches but nope they werent awesome at all.notjackbauer said:Were they awesome?
Yes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKS3DoPoFuc&feature=relatednotjackbauer said:Were they awesome?
They were pretty damn janky. Those old Battlefield engines were not good at doing anything except what they were originally designed for.notjackbauer said:Were they awesome?

Yeah I hope they took the Counter Strike approach. I find it stupid when I get knifed after I pump 6 bullets into a guy and I'm the one that die. Stupid knife lunge and 1 hit kill.Ysiadmihi said:I really hope knives aren't an instant kill weapon this time.
Tokubetsu said:Fuck planes. Seriously.
Good. I hope most servers will have it on to avoid nade spam and just firing randomly with choppers and tanks into the flags.Freki said:* There will be a friendly fire option, turned off by default
Choppers are much more balanced in BF2. Planes are harder to kill, but they're kept in check by other planes and plenty of AA. There may still be dominant pilots, but they won't be able to concentrate solely on infantry like the choppers of BC2.KaYotiX said:Agree, Helicopters in BC2 are what made me quit that game. It was so fun till you had a guy in the chopper spawn killing your team.
I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you. TBH, I'd be happy with conquest with bots MP that BF2 had. I won't be playing it outside of day 1 when I'm learning the controls.mclaren777 said:My only question: will it have a good, non-CODesque story?
That's great to know. Thanks for that info.Rorschach said:Choppers are much more balanced in BF2. Planes are harder to kill, but they're kept in check by other planes and plenty of AA. vanty said:Ziplines would be stupid. It was fine in BF2 Special Forces, but it's kind of stupid to have a normal soldier carrying around ziplines and grappling hooks and stuff.
The Faceless Master said:maybe they mean for all bullets!?
Ah ok. Just someone else mentioned Special Forces so that's what I was thinking of.I <3 Memes said:No I think you misunderstand. We are asking for ziplines for transport helicopters instead of parachutes, not an all around usable zipline.
Project Reality had them.EVIL said:I want Little Birds to transport troops to certain locations quick and easy. give them flares so they arent used as an attack vehicle. I wanted them in BF:BC2, but helas.
All of this is old stuff that we've been talking about in the Gameinformer cover OT for the past few days now...Freki said:* Prone will be on all 3 platforms, not just PC
* Dolphin Driving/Dropshooting will not work.
* Spotting (in an undecided form) will be making a return
* While the PC version will have up to 64 player online matches, the number is limited to 24 on consoles
* There will be a friendly fire option, turned off by default
* Knives and dogtags will return
* There will be no ziplines or grapple hooks
* There will be bullet drop, but Doesnt work the same as BC2 though, its a much deeper system.
* No tracer darts

Silly.Mikey said:man 24 players on console, wtf? Thats pathetic. I guess im buying the PC version. Why does no one complain about this?
Slayer-33 said:Because some prefer to have intact gameplay quality besides the number of players.. Anyway non issue for me, I'll be on PC just like BC2 although I had fun with the 360 version.
And funnily enough I wont be playing on 64 man servers, I'd do 32 and maybe 48 max.. Hell I think 48 is too much as is... God damned clusterfuck.
64. The base maps in BF PC games have always been built around 64 players and 64 players has always been the place to be.Silly.Mikey said:What was the max in BF2?
Just saw a demo of Battlefield 3 here at EAHQ. Holy shit. Everything else looks like a cartoon now.
