New BF:Bad Company 2 trailer/screens

Switching up the environments drasitically is one of the reasons why I'm looking forward to BF3 more than BC2.

Nice to hear that they are trying to switch things up a bit.

They can only go so far with environments in the same chronological setting. Though nobody has really done a jungle combat setting well in a shooter yet, at least in my opinion.

And there's nothing wrong with the desert, as Desert Combat evidences to this day! :lol

When I'm discussing a Battlefield game, assume that I'm talking about multiplayer :D

Crysis and Far Cry 2 have done nice jungle settings in singleplayer games, though I don't think either completely realized the potential even for solo campaigns.

Deserts are fine, variety is better. Epic battles with snowcapped mountains in the background, hells yes. I'm looking forward to seeing more from the campaign bits that those screens are taken from, some damned fine snow there.

Pathetic. You don't have an actual argument, or even an excuse for an argument this time, so it's just "omg you must suck at the game thats why you dont like it." Leave that in Gamefaqs where it belongs.

Whoa, so the fact that it's not identical to Halo in every respect clearly means that it's nothing like Halo! Seriously, is there a logical fallacy you haven't used yet? It's like reading the textbook examples of what not to do.

If you think you can kill people in BFBC more quickly than you can in BF1942, Desert Combat, and BF2, it's not a matter of opinion. It's objective fact and you having no clue what you're talking about. It takes less bullets and less time to kill people in the aforementioned games than BFBC, end of story.

And jesus christ you are annoying.

I was completely amazed by the new bad company 2 trailer.

Any word if there will an actual mortar this time around or just the radio module from bad company 1 to call the mortar strikes ?

When I saw the video earlier a cool new perk idea or gun addition came to me.

How about a laser designator on the rifle a special perk that adds this to the rifle.
laserdevicesar2a22.jpg

The way it would work is you would press right on the dpad to take it out then the laser is turned on , you would then 'laze' a section or part of a building. Then you press left on the dpad to take out your grenade launcher, an arrow on the screen somewhere or on the gun itself will indicate that you have to aim higher or lower to make sure the grenade round hits the target you just lazed.

This would be awesome to get a 40mm grenade inside of a window where a pesky sniper is hiding in, it would give you the ability to hit that grenade in that window the first time although with a lil bit of preparation.

what do you guys think of my idea :D

Well that's how it could be played, in reality you'd be lucky to have 1 of your squadmates around you, and you'd be lucky if he's useful. But such is the price of sandbox games, you're capable of making those epic moments over overwhelming odds, you just gotta deal with the moments when your team blows and you get spawn camped into oblivion.

Anyway my point was that yes, Battlefield is player driven, but that trailer wasn't. Still looked really cool though.
i've played totally random games with sucky teammates who don't communicate or team play. and i've played totally random games with super awesome teammates who play like squad, run back to me and get medkits when i'm a support, run and meet me halfway when they're a support and i need a medkit, co-ordinate as specialist and demolitions to take out vehicles, hide out and wait for squad spawns in good locations when attacking, cover the rushing infantry as recon, run around at the base like a madman continually throwing out motion detectors on defense, etc.

anything can happen on any given day, that's part of he awesomeness!!!

One thing I definetely hope they remove is spawning on teamates if they are engaged in a battle. Nothing is more annoying that fighting a guy and then seeing his teamates magically popup out of thin air as your fighting, so that 1v1 ends up being 1vs 3 or 1v4.

So that gametrailers footage was a target render for X360 or the all mighty PC version? That trailer looked too good to be true.

Huh? The footage shows all the call signs of a console title, complete with pop-in and shadow aliasing. It could be the PC version for all I know, but it doesn't look beyond the capabilities of either console. Bad Company already looked quite good.

what video were you watching? that was clearly the console version

This is easily the top game on my most anticipated list. I play the hell out of BC1, and this looks 100 times better, I like the fact it only took a couple of shots to drop someone.

It was 360. Notifications for picking up weapons showed a 360 'B' button and the d-pad symbol looked like a 360 pad's.

Target render though? Really.

BF1943 was nirvana for me in terms of both controls and the actual gunplay (i.e. how long it takes to take somebody down). I'm praying that BF1943 isn't seen by the BFBC2 team merely as a curio, because I think that game solved a lot of the problems that BFBC had.

GAF's cynicism and conspiracy-mongering is more contagious than I thought. Look at all of the other footage they've released, the game does look like that. Plus, it's still six months away, DICE has had (and still has) time to tweak the engine.

I believe PC would still have the same button icons,so it might be PC. I don't care though the gameplay rocks!!

The animation for running stands out the most to me making it look tons better than the first.

One thing I'm glad they improved in 1943 from BC1 was that you can just click the left stick to sprint whereas in BC1 you had to hold down the stick.

I hope they keep click to sprint in BC2. Man, I downloaded that trailer from Gamersyde from the PS3's browser and damn that trailer looked great on the tv.

Looks so much sharper without the grain filter.

Game still looks rough in the performance department with wonky framerate and screen tearing, hopefully it's polished with all the extra time they got now.

Why do i find this more interesting than mw2?
i'm really looking forward to mw2, but i wish the hud wasn't so damn cluttered in that game. the clean hud in BC2 is refreshing...plus everything looks like it has been heavily refined. the destruction 2.0 stuff looks amazing.

This looks great but I can't help but miss the more fun and colorful atmosphere of BF1943. Maybe next generation developers will stray more from attitude and realism and will instead focus on style and fun?

Don't get me wrong, though, I love big macho things as much as the next guy. I'm still waiting for a perfect gaming representation of Conan. John Carter of Mars would be nice, too.

Okay, back to Team Fortress 2. :p

It amazes me how much these threads are unable to remain on topic.

Games do not exist in a vacuum. While your token "I'm totally getting this over this" may seem pointless, it's perfectly reasonable to discuss games using comparisons to games with similar themes.

I didn't play the first one, but I'm addicted to bf1943 and loved the older battlefield pc games, so this has now become day one for me.

I blame you. You're the one who keeps on trying to keep this thread on topic with updates on the game's progress.

Wait... We're in the BC2 thread.

Well, I still blame you.

Yep. I've seen the excellent discussion that arises from it in the last page or two. Don't let me stop the awesome informative dialogue!

Now I feel like getting the first Bad Company, a shame they never released it for pc. I'll have to see if I can get a good deal on it.

The best teamwork experience I've ever had in a game is in a BF2 mod called Project Reality, the feel of the game is amazing when you find a squad that actually works together. Beware though, compared to normal BF2 it's quite hardcore as the name implies.

You might not have enjoyed the excellent discussion over the last couple pages, but I'm having trouble seeing where it's strayed very far off topic.

Your rationale is flawed! Clearly we must compare games only to....themselves? :lol

I played Project Reality, it was the most successful multiplayer BF2 mod, but they didn't have nearly as strong a community as the good old BF1942 mods like Desert Combat did.

Personally I hated Project Reality. You can only drive a tank, or any other vehicle for that matter, if you're the officer or have some specific driver kit that you can only pick up on days with a full moon? They just generally made the game convoluted and clumsy as hell to play with that mod. If clumsy is realistic, I'll stick with unrealistic, thanks.

I'm speaking directly to when the thread turns into "game wars". Not when the discussion is relevant and pertinent to Battlefield. Which is perfectly fine. Or even when comparisons are made to other games where it's actually a discussion relating to the actual qualitative dual sided differences in another game that may be pertinent to Battlefield.

What was with the cursing and stuff in the vid. Will we hear that stuff during gameplay?
Unfortunately, it sounds like the foul language will probably be included as an aspect of multiplayer. :(

Was it in there when you played it? I could see that going either way where they add it in to the trailer to make it appear "gritty".

Also I meant to ask this back when you played it at PAX but have they added back in prone? I'm assuming they haven't but I wanted to ask.

Xbox 360 version, as you can see by the buttons. On the official BFBC2 trailer they say there is no 360 controller support for the PC version, so it's not like they were playing with a 360 controller either. It was 360, which makes me think the beta will be coming at least to the Xbox 360 again.

God I would totally stop bitching about killcam if they gave us prone back...
