Also, could anyone .gif the rising rainstorm? From 46 to 47 seconds?

Looks pretty good to me. I don't know what he was so upset about.

The rising rainstorm does look good. Everyone seems to like it.

I'm not sure why the downward rainstorm looks so retarded considering that they did such a good job with the rising rainstorm.

It's artwork like this that makes me realize how much more depraved the designers are for these games than the actual players. Am I feeling that some people here might feel a little offended to see that Ninja Theory's presumptions of their "target" audience are in need of a major re-evaluation?

Now I know why real Rainstorm looks weird... he has his arm spread out instead of being crossed like in DMC3/DMC4. It's also at a much slower speed than OG Rainstorm.

I like the concept of Rising Rainstorm, that is genuinely "DMC-like".

I enjoyed the artwork for what it was. Some people may not like the subject matter of it but it paints a picture of Dante's personality much better than the other pics/videos do. Even if it's not a personality that people want, it's still something. It also gives more hints to Dante being half angel which is now practically confirmed.

I honestly don't expect to be playing the game and going through strip clubs and hooking up with angel prostitutes. I don't think that's what this art was implying.

I do look forward to Vergil pimping out with demon succubi concept art.

Okay that... am I wrong to say that the downward rainstorm looks hilarious? Like "is this a joke?" hilarious.
edit: I can't comment on the upward rainstorm because my current monitor makes everything too dark. People are saying it looks good so Ill check it out after changing.

What exactly is so depraved about it? Because of the sexuality?

Maybe they just assume we're not all prudes?

lol. The angsty kid from Twilight got his own game!

Not really liking the direction. Too much flash kills the visceral style I liked in DMC3.

Gameplay does look slower than the usual DMC-fare, but I'm in the camp that doesn't think slower = instant crap. Worse than the alternative, probably, but not completely unenjoyable manifestation of shit.

I'm willing to give this game a chance. I won't use the battlesystems in either Enslaved or Heavenly Sword affect my judgement on whether or not I think Ninja Theory can pull off a combatsystem with a bit more depth & fluidity, apart from the framerate the trailer made combat look at least decent. Heavenly Sword was a God of War copy (which are super-shallow compared to DMC as well, but can still be entertaining to play) and Enslaved is more like Zelda where the depth of combat isn't really the main concern (I did like how well you could "feel" when Monkey hit enemies with his strong attacks and how brutally those robots were destroyed). I'm sure this won't have as deep combat as DMC3 & Bayonetta and the 30fps framerate does have an impact on gameplay (even if it's without any drops), but yeah, I seriously don't think that will equal to the game being the worst shit in the world, like some do.

And I'm not TOO worried about the framerate at this point, although NT's past performance is a cause of some concern. Hasn't this game been in production only for ~a year now and has a release date for Fall 2012? Hopefully NT has learned the skill of optimization after HS & Enslaved and will make sure this game runs as smoothly as possible...

Um, yes??

Not exactly, but that piece of artwork is quite tasteless if you ask me. It's also quite pretentious with it's desperation to achieve the "cool factor".

I am just going to be cautiously optimistic about DmC as I loved Heavenly Sword's Gameplay at the the time. I will at least won't judge it too harshly until I actually pay it in person.

The guns still have limited ammo? Or did they scrap that idea?
I think the rumor was guns overheating. That's still a rumor. I don't think even NT would think limited ammo is a good idea for a DMC game. Then again every time a rumor comes out that's pretty much my reaction. "They couldn't possibly think X is a good idea. There's no way they would." So take what I say with a grain of salt.

This looks better a lot better than the last trailer. I really dig the subtle changes to Dante. Being a NT game, I know for sure the cinematics will be better, my only worry now is the frame rate and that by some miracle it is stil 60 frames.

I have a feeling NT will deliver for some odd reason. Hopefully the combat depth and smooth gameplay stay in tact, I'm staying optimistic.

I don't think they ever did, there was just a cooldown.

As far as the design changes, they're moving in the right direction. As long as they get the 'tude right and include some PIZZA, I don't think this will necessarily be the travesty people were initially fearing.

Yes, cause the previous games were so above using sex appeal for their target audience.

(Trish is also in the image of Dante's mother. Just want to throw that out there.

And for good measure;

So yeah, this is nothing new. Like at all.

I have no problems with exploitation of sexuality but rather how that piece of artwork in particular is quite tasteless in my eyes. Bayonetta is the pinnacle of sexploitation but it's more self-aware of it's ridiculousness.

I just found that particular image quite irreverent to such exploitation, kinda like "let's push this to the next level".

Guess I'm a lone soldier on this one it seems!

*edit* BTW, it has nothing to do with them being naked but rather the overt male dominance in that picture. Seems like the art designer had a massive hard on when drawing it.

That concept art is the best piece of work that NT has put out related to DmC since it's unveiling. Nothing even comes close. I mean with other stuff related to DmC it was pretty much "this is fucking terrible" but with the concept art it's like "wow... that's interesting".

More people are talking about the concept art than the trailer. The guy who made the art should be getting a raise at NT. It's really the only thing that NT has done that actually shakes the foundations of the DMC universe.

Seems spot on and complies with previous attempts by capcom to appeal to the target audience for Devil May Cry.

The combat looks very slow and (dare I say) God Of War/Castlevania: LOS like. *shudders*
The look of Dante and the setting does not upset me at all, I think it looks neat. The only thing I am concerned about is the combat, and it doesn't look as good as previous entries. *sigh*

Nothing is wrong with it. Its actually pretty fitting for the DMC universe. Going for the classical look while injecting the rocker attitude, has always been in the games.

A-Are....are you serious?

Of course I'm serious. Ninja Theory gets it. They understand how to make DMC awesome. For example, they choose 30fps to capture a more cinematic feel to show off their incredible animation and love of their craft. This is something Capcom doesn't even understand, which is why they easily surpassed Capcom's own DMC efforts.

You've got to be a little more obvious when doling out sarcasm on the internet

Old all those guys in the previous DmC thread that this game wouldn't be shit. Maybe not as good as DMC1 or DMC3 but I trust Ninja Theory, their pedigree has steadily improved with every game they've released thus far.

This has been part of Dante's nature ever since DMC1. The first scene of DMC1, Dante fucking tosses Trish to the side and puts a gun to her mouth. He also makes a joke out of Lady the first couple times they meet.

Dante is not a single relationship guy at all, he goes to strip clubs/bars and has a good fucking time. That's probably what he is doing here.

This is the same guy who made a soliloquy on his dick in DMC4.

And since Dante is officially an angel now, this pic makes even more sense from a story point of view. It's not out of the imagination to have angels mess around like this since clearly that's how Dante came about in DmC (Eva being an angel).

Yeah it's like trying to sell a 60FPS MVC or SF game... that shit ain't going to fly in the competitive scene.

Anyway someone should GIF the Rising Rainstorm.

Well, that would be the next logical step, right? Go through the entirety of their franchises see which ones can have the frame rate downgraded in exchange for better textures/particle effects/etc.

Eh, I kinda get what he's saying. The male dominance thing wasn't really Dante's schtick. It was more about being a playboy. Never taking himself too seriously, and making suggestive remarks to women.

There's a level of female submissiveness in the art that you don't often see in DMC because women are usually depicted as powerful, capable of fighting back. DMC women debatably are more domineering than Dante is (Kyrie excepted, but she's still not submissive).

That said, I don't mind the art. I think it fits with the direction the new game is trying to go in.
