Perhaps the poor quality is an attempt to hide the bad aliasing
Yup. Bad quality videos and can still see the aliasing everywhere. This game should be 60fps

Agreed. Night time driving requires Kavinsky. This game needs custom soundtrack support - or I can pray that the PS4 will have console level support for it by then. I just want to put on a custom playlist and drive and drive and drive.
Confirmed and posted about 50 times in this thread already and countless others that yes, you can turn the HUD off.I'd really like to see some stuff with the menus and popups. I am hoping this isn't replay mode and that you're able to kill the HUD.

Wow.
Wooooooow. That was insanely boring, and honestly, not that pretty.
.
Because dynamic lighting is so cheap...
You're clearly not looking at the right things if you think that.I just think if the lighting model is effecting this games performance so much then they should change it. I don't think the car models or looks, look that much better than need for Speed rivals. It looks OK I guess but not anything too special. Not getting the hype for this at all. Me and my friends were amped for it as a launch game. Not looking too hot new tho. It looks nothing special gameplay wise. If people just want to pervy on some headlights reflecting off bumpers, then cool I guess?
I think mundane is the right word to describe the game for now. The game could be awesome and actually driving could feel great, but for me that's not coming across in the footage they've released. Rushy is a cool dude and visually the game looks pretty, but these vids aren't doing it for me. The other two vids explaining the systems in the game are just terrible. Why use those low-rent flash animations instead of footage from the dynamic menu and actual racing challenges and whatnot? It's baffling.
Somehow, the more i think about it the more i realize that this game has no hook. It's not a sim, it has no burnout like crashes, no police chases no muddy hectic motor storm craziness... I don't even know five other people/friends that have ps4s so the whole club aspect is lost on me.
I really hoped the new vids would hype me up somewhat.
Is it possible to view webm's on an iPad?
Pretty sure they don't support them yet. Might be wrong though.

The super gorgeous environments have always been the hook for me. Sims provide you with racing circuits which are mostly sterile affairs, and maybe a tiny selection of fantasy tracks in beautiful locations. You get better locales in arcade racers, but the handling model is usually incredibly superficial. There's not much nuance to learn over time, nor enough personality to the individual cars - not in comparison to those sims.Somehow, the more i think about it the more i realize that this game has no hook.

Same here. Driveclub will always remind me that we got it instead of the cancelled WipEout, which I would have rather taken, or any real arcade racer for the matter, like another MotorStorm. It just seems so bland, especially for a person who doesn't like to play the more realistic kind of racing games.
Why exactly does a racing game have to have a "hook"? Why can't it just be a game with really solid racing mechanics? That's what made Sega Rally great. It's what made Ridge Racer great. It's what made Daytona great. They didn't have a gimmick. They were just great racing games with great driving mechanics that made you want to keep playing and beat times. They didn't have cutscenes where your car got totaled. They didn't have slowmo shots of your car barely missing a collision, or the ability to activate random powerups as you raced.
In fact, when was the last time a racer with a "hook" actually did well that wasn't named Need for Speed? Split/Second tanked. Blur tanked. Later Motorstorm games tanked. And on and on. Maybe what racing fans really want is just a simple racing game that's built around great driving mechanics instead of the latest gimmick to try to bring in people that seemingly don't like racing games to begin with?

DriveClub locations remind me more of Top Gear segments or fantasy stuff out of car commercials. And with the lighting and atmospherics the overall effect is remarkable.
I know social features are the other bullet point, but since the advent of AutoLog/Rivals and even Drivatars just about every racing game is filled with the stuff. So on that point I haven't seen what makes DriveClub unique.
Everything with competition needs a hook, even if that hook is just a lot more polish on an established formula. Why exactly does a racing game have to have a "hook"?
*fist bump*This is the draw for me.
Just as they said in the reveal. Exotic cars in exotic locations.
If this is true, not only is my hype deflating for Driveclub, i would actually grow to hate on the game with furious passion :O

I don't understand your reaction either, ain't that the strangest thing?
Can you do some from the early moments in the dusk till dawn video?
Do you want to be anymore negative.
Doesn't seem this is a game for you.
Grow up.
The day to night transitions are way too quick in the second video. It turns from dawn to dusk in about 5 seconds...
Looks really weird.
