New Driveclub PS4 gameplay from E3 (offscreen)

Awesome, thanks!

No problem. Just found the tweet from another thread...

Nice effect with the cloud shadows rolling across the countryside @ about 1:00 to 1:03.

The dynamic range of this game doesn't seem to be easy to capture in offscreen video, so wouldn't infer much from it.

This is what I wanted. Give it to me for $30 or less and I am in.

This makes no sense. Think about it: why buy the game from the PSN Store for £40 if you just download the free Plus version and then upgrade for £30.

Until I see this on the Store, I don't believe there will be a discount. Despite what Yoshida says.

If not on a technical level, that game looks darned good on an artistic level. Obviously there's a lot to nitpick, and it has the added scrutiny of being a launch title representing a new generation, but I hope this plays as fun as it looks.

Thing with Driveclub is that it's supposed to be tailored to have heavy focus on online challenges and such, but you can't get that from an e3 demo at all. The level they're showcasing is also pretty darn bland, even if it's plenty pretty. And why no direct feed from this game, anywhere?!

Hope it's a solid racing title by launch.

To incentivise PS+.

That's going to be...interesting. The thing is that PS+ free games become unplayable when your sub runs out. I wonder if once you pay for the "upgrade", does it then become your own copy of the full game, or will your purchase become unplayable without your PS+ sub?

You will be able to keep the cars and tracks you downloaded, you just won't have a menu to be able to start the game.

Jk. :-)

About this vid though, man that car model looks cgi when it spins out...it looks perfect./

I really believe the finished build will have some on GAF going crazy.....i have HIGH confidence in Evolution's art team. The different (most likely unstable) build they used for trailers already look truely next gen compared to other PS4/XboxOne launch window games.

It actually looks good, even from the terrible and rubbish YouTube quality video. Lighting is really good. Will definitely be picking up this game on launch.

Of course, but still makes no sense to me. Maybe I'm missing something, perhaps Sony never had DC as a one-off full price game. Evolution spoke a few times about their 'service model' - you'll never own the "full game".

Finally got to watch it, definitely the best off screen footage we've seen of the game so far. It looks great! Can't wait to see the final game.

"online" challenges can be asynchronous as well, something that Evolution has put an emphasis on in past titles. So, for example, going up against your friends' ghost times. Which is shown in this footage.

I noticed a wonderful thing! Look at minute 1:17 the reflection of the sun, and watch it again on the next lap precisely at minute 3:05, the sun is down!
Anyway not bad at all!

friends' ghost? But without the cloud, how were the able to harness the driveatar technology?

Game looks fine, but quite dull. It's the course they are showing with no other racers on screen. Would be good if we could see a more exciting course being driven by a dev (so we see someone who is good at the game) in a race.

looks good, but difficult to judge considering the track is a bit dull, only long draw distance shines, and low quality of the video.

1/10

Definitely the post that I agree the least with this morning. The Cars in Drive Club look a lot better and so does the lighting. I'd wait till the game is released before making such ridiculous proclamations

And most likely the lighting in Forza is mostly pre-baked, hence the lcak of day-night cycles.

Also, if I remember it right, asynchronous play will not require ps+ online play. Which is pretty nice of them, keep the game social even when people dont have plus

Aliasing and foliage are still very poor.

Not writing the game off though, they got time to improve.

Even with the off screen footage, the game still looks pretty sharp. This is definitely one of the launch games I'm thinking about picking up.

Definitely a fair question. It's PGR to Forza. It's between arcade and simulation, very social, very challenge-based. It's more about the fun of driving (hence why not leaning so heavily on simulation) than the stats of your car.
Thanks.

From a distance, the only distinctions I can make in the racing genre are sim, arcade, and kart.
