I've been told that in the previous games you could kill children. Is this true? If so, I think the question we all want an answer to is: "Can we still?"

FallOut also contains: slavery, gay marriage/sex/rape, prostitution + pimping

I've always wondered how it slipped by the censors

The list goes on and on. :D

OooooOoooo

If its anything like Mass Effect (where you can seamlessly switch between Real Time and Turn Based) I would be happeh!

Rock Band was also in Game Informer, where this information comes from. He started a topic to give the information on Rock Band just like he did with Fallout 3 in this thread.

I'm giving you some rope Bethseda.

Biggest concern at the moment.

Oblivion had the worst stealth ever. This needs to be addressed.

btw what can get you an adult rating with the ESRB?, just extreme sexual content?, i am asking because maybe bethesda can get away with the killing of children in the game since the 2 last games were just rated "mature"

Hype +100. Most of that stuff IS Fallout which is good. I'm especially happy that turn based combat is still an option. **** that realtime bullshit.

Sounds good. I always did the talk/science thing in Fallout 1&2 and if it didn't work I made a gory mess with unarmed combat.

Yeah, that's definitely my favorite part.

"- Game starts with your birth and your mother's death in a vault hospital. This is essentially the character customization part of the game. Your father hands you up to have your DNA analyzed and you get to pick out all your character traits. Your dad takes off his mask to reveal similar traits to the ones you picked."

Sounds good to me. Also, probably because it's not a big name title. Which is why it'll be interesting if Rockstar actually puts kids in GTA4 like (I believe it was them) GI said they would.

Ok, so is the combat turn-based or not? Everything else sounds good, but if they screw up the battles then this'll just be another RPG to me.

It sounds like it is real-time with pause.

I wonder which skills got the axe? I'm guessing they combined doctor and first aid. They probably also combined small guns, big guns, and energy guns into just guns. Unarmed and melee were probably also combined.

It sounds like real-time combat is the default, and always available, but action points can be spent in the pause screen for targeted shots, and presumably other stuff. If that's what it is, I'm fine with it. It keeps the best things about Fallout combat and mixes it with faster gameplay. It's kind of what I had hoped for (I was hoping for something like Mass Effect).

Great that they're using S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Absolutely fantastic.

So, you start at birth in a vault and then presumably move out into the world, full circle back to the original Fallout.

the 20 lvl cap has me worried just a tad and the real time/turn based combat/real time when your points run out might be cool... but might be broken... as I said before the rest sounds pure gold

This game sounds pretty good from the details listed. I'm glad its not too much like oblivion, because I actually didn't like that game too much.

Yeah. I don't remember what the cap was in 2... I should fire it up again..

Wait a minute, this sounds like it actually might not be utter crap

Where are the Fallout doomsingers now?

For myself, I hated what I played of F3. Gameplay rubbed me the wrong way, like rubbing my delicate parts with barbed wire. Loved the concept and scenario, though. I'm quite interested in this.

Sorta offtopic, but why don't w-rpgs go to lvl.99 like j-rpgs? It's not like these games are MMOs where expansions will come out and they need to raise the level cap.

well if you played wrpgs back in the day you could carry your character over to the next game. D&D gold box games, Bard's Tale, Might and Magic...

Different style of gameplay and gameplay mechanics. Games like these require you to make choices throughout the game that will ultimately effect how the game will play out so if you could level up every aspect of your character it would defeat the purpose of the game. Thus why I like w-rpgs so much more.

I am one of the loudest wRPG homers on GAF but jRPGs that allow you to go to 99 doesn't mean that you are 100% in every skill, every power and all that... you still have to make some choices to get a good character.. wrpgs don't have as much grinding also..

All this stuff sounds really good. I had a fair amount of confidence that bethesda would find a good way to bring it up to date without losing all the crucial fallout stuff. This sounds like a good medium ground.

- 9 - 12 possible endings based on your actions in the game
I was getting very excited about this until I came upon this part of the article. I hate mulitple endings, because I always end up with the crap one!:D

This game just sounds too good for me to get the shit ending in. I will get the best ending!

Well if it pans out right, it should be YOUR ending. Suiting you just fine. :)

The battle system sounds sort of Baldur's Gateish to me...Can pause the real time stuff to plan out your attack or use abilities.

Will this game be open-world like Oblivion?

Well let's see. The other fallouts were open-world/ended. The world doesn't scale to you, so you can die in areas where you shouldn't be... there are 12 endings, and there are many ways to take care of situations.. it is using the Oblivion engine.. so all signs point to yes..

No, Fallout's level cap was 30. They probably just adjusted perks so the "ultimate" stuff like Sniper/Slayer comes at level 18, compared to 24 in the first 2.

anyway, it's good to see they kept the SPECIAL system, since that was one of the cornerstones of Fallout. I was really afraid they'd throw that out. The game actually sounds like a really faithful adaptation instead of just Oblivion: post-nuclear edition.

Still not really expecting the story, writing, or voice work to live up to the previous games (especially if they give voices to everyone, like they did in Oblivion) but if the gameplay lives up to what GI's saying, at least they got that part right.

Wow, this made me way happier than would be considered normal. My heart is actually lighter...

**** yes!

To EVERYTHING.

Now let's just hope the content stays crude. I'm thinking of the shotgun wedding after a passionate night in Fallout 2. Well, not so much that, but how I whored her out then took her to the desert and put a combat shotgun burst between her eyes afterwards.

Actually I feel a lil sick now.

I'll agree with that.

As for Fallout3 I'm praying... Please don't suck. :(
