New Final Fantasy 12 trailer

Can't believe people have determined the emotional range of the characters by watching a movie or reading some plot spoilers.

The art style doesnt stand out a much (from other FF games) as it could with this trailer.

Completely true.

I'm not quite sure how a trailer like this gets reactions like "This game is going to be amazing!!!!" Past trailers, maybe.

It'd be nice if Square put out a trailer that showed off a little thing called "gameplay" so that maybe people like myself who think the gameplay in the demo was trash might have to reconsider it. Also, showing off one or two new settings would be nifty. Every single setting shown in this game so far looks the same, with its ugly brown colors and whatnot.

It's just the same stuff we've seen forever. :(

Looks great.

I bet one of the judges turns out to be
the dead Dalmascan king
.

Personally, I'm betting on
Lord Rasler, aka Ashe's ex-hubby
.

I also found this interesting Ogre Battle character description today. Spoiler-marked, since it already has a lot in common with FFXII and who knows if it'll turn out the same way? :lol

"Before the reign of the Zeteginean Empire in the land of Zenobia, Ashe was the lead Knight responsible for protecting the Zenobian Royal Family. However, shortly after Empress Endora's army conquered Zenobia, Ashe apparently turned on the royal family, slaughtering the entire family except for the youngest son Tristan, who had been taken away from the Kingdom of Zenobia by a nurse named Banya.

Absolutely irate by this inhuman act, General Debonair, who happened to be one of the Empress' protectors, imprisoned Ashe in the prison of By' Roit, which is located in the northeastern mountains of the Kingdom of Zenobia. Ten years passed before the rebellion movement began; by that time, Ashe had simply been left to die at By 'Roit. However, the rebels liberated By 'Roit and allowed Ashe to join them in their fight to drive away the Zeteginean Empire."

Sweet. Pretty obvious who dies, though. (Guess we already knew that)

You mean
Ashe's husband? Didn't know that before. I just noticed that part from rewatching the trailer. At first i was thinking Ashe was attending her dad's funeral...

Well the music is bad.

Can't say I dont agree. Sounds very cliched and I don't even know japanese (there are some parts in english though). But thats just the theme song. Im sure the game will be a step up from X-2 music-wise.

All the Characters look forgettable.

Well most characters in FF games will be remembered AFTER we finish the game. After you've spent 50+ hours playing the game and getting to really know all of the characters they will become memorable, you can't do that with trailers.

I can say they're not so eye catching as previous FF games but I dunno why I like them. They all seem very classy and European. I would love to hear a british accent from Ashe or the Chuck Norris look alike...

The range of emotions looks limited.

Its supposed to be a melancholic trailer I think... We cannot truly say the game will be very limited emotions-wise.

Everyone looks like they are depressed emotionally or confused.

Again, thats just the tone of the trailer. Im sure there will an obligatory "forced" laughing scene with the whole group.

The art style doesnt stand out a much (from other FF games) as it could with this trailer.

In the demo it felt very week but in most trailers I get a European like art style. Very fitting for a game that takes place in the Tactics/Vagrant Story universe

And you'll be the first in line to buy it at your local store

I think every aspect of the game so far is an improvement over FFX.

That said, I am looking forward to a truly epic love story. I hope the main focus of the game is on saving the girl. Now they just need to add a whole lot of dysfunctionalism and unique tragedy to keep it from being a generic love tale.

It's at least better than FFX's Suteki da ne. I think it's one of those songs that'll grow on you the more you hear it.

That Rain song's not too bad either.

Matsuno already said that FFXII is not a love story. It's a story about people scarred by war learning to live in it and through it, thus influencing it.

Edit: Man I was wondering why I was thinking the song is SO DAMN FAMILIAR. Fuck you Uematsu, you just copied your own Melodies of Life. >_< Luckily Sakimoto is composing the rest of the game. :P

Plus it's hard to make a love story when all of the game's women have been eaten by dragons sent out by the church, or killed by surprise ex-lovers

Or completely ignored by the young male lead of questionable sexual-preferance! :lol

some of us haven't finished vagrant story or fft yet :(

People are snuffing it in those games from hour one anyways; it's to be expected. Now that you know this, you won't get so attached to each and every one. :lol

I was wondering at the end of the video with Vann in the room with the kid in the chair if that was a FFTA reference?

No, that's err
Vaan's older brother. He's killed in the prologue of the game by Basch. That scene is probably a way of him "letting go of the memory".

Man, watching it again in better quality, I can't stress how amazing those real-time cutscenes look. I can only imagine what they'll do with PS3 hardware. Hopefully we don't have to wait 4 years. :(
