Just noticed the big giraffe creature in the background trying to walk lol
Very true. Xenoblade is another game that we all found awful because of the constant running around large spaces.
I agree that open worlds are tedious. What they should do is stick us in a linear hallway. All we care about is the battles anyway, am I right?

I assume you're being sarcastic but that was actually one of the big reasons I disliked Xenoblade.
But that is exactly the problem with a lot of open-world/large map RPGs. Using Xenoblade as an example, it's maps were just excessively large field battle maps that you would find in any other JRPG (Tales of Xillia for instance) except somehow worse because there weren't any hidden loot chest to find. There was very little side content to do in its overworld so for the most part, all you were doing was fighting mobs. So in that particular instance, a linear design would have been preferable since it would have made grinding and traveling less tedious.
Why do they all have red soles on their boots?
I don't know what you're smoking but Xenoblade had a large amount of "chests" and shit to collect, as well as a load of sidequests and the minerals to mine for gem crafting. Also hidden areas.
Traveling was very fast too despite the large areas (that weren't so large at all btw except the bionis leg and one or two others)
What does this mean for the games development? Is it seriously holding them back from pushing through with development? Or is this type of scenario normal with big projects?
Really want a Holiday XV release but if the Engine isn't even finalized til Spring then it seems like it would be hard for them.
Can any of you with tech knowledge comment on the Luminous completion percentage?
They said its at version 1.4 which is 80% and by March it will be 1.5/100% complete.

Man they are just taking too long. Will have a family by the time this arrives
I've had two kids since this game was first announced lol
I wouldn't get your hopes up too much.Even though I hate Square.....
..
... I want this game to sell in the double digits for millions. I don't even mind that I had to wait years for this. This game looks absolutely amazing. I'm still flabbergasted at how good it looks. It's almost ridiculous and too good to be true. I don't know what programming wizardry these Japanese have but this is already the best looking game of the generation to me. I want it so badly, come launch... I really might have a heart attack. This is ridiculous. That draw distance, the monsters, the night mode, the huge atmosphere and skybox... Just Ugh..
Take my money!
I wouldn't get your hopes up too much.
There hasn't been a double digit million FF since FF7 and that one barely qualifies.

What do you guys think the odds are for a late 2015 release?

Not to mention a lot of those sales came from Japan where home consoles are in the dump now.
yea I thought they did great job with character animation

Considering how SE, supposedly is aiming for Holiday 2015 release in Japan... I think chances are a bit higher than zero.Zero.
I don't really understand all the concern over pop-in, aliasing, the resolution, etc. right now.
It doesn't look this way because they aren't capable of more, it looks this way because the game is quite literally only half-done.
Tabata seems focused on making an actually good gameplay experience. This other stuff can and will be left to the polishing/optimization phase.
My fave area so far. Can't wait to explore it.![]()
God damn....
This constant trickle of information is the best thing to happen to XV, final fantasy and SE, in general, in the last 10 years
What do you guys think the odds are for a late 2015 release?
They really needed to do something like this to get people's faith that they are actually making the game and they are not running across developmental hurdles anymore. I'm really loving this. (Also helps that the game looks gorgeous)

In one of the Versus XIII videos, didn't Noctis get into an enemy mech and use it?Don't be so sure. Alternate modes of transport are already a feature in the game. The fact they mentioned Magitek Armof and apparently weren't supposed to tells me that's probably one of them.
I believe wild animal AI was already mentioned to be similar to that, i.e. they'll mind their own business unless you provoke them or get too close.Something I don't see mentioned a lot and one of the main things for me that made FFXII's world so enjoyable is the creatures AI behaviors. Some will mind their own business unless you're too close to them, others are aggressive and will chase after you the moment they see you, and then there's those who wont attack you unless you attack them first(or attack some of their kind). There's even some little creatures who will chase you around, casting buffs on your party(or enemies, lol). The lovely mandragora family, each type with its own unique behavior traits, were some of the best enemy types in the series.
They missed around a lot with the AI and it help make the world way more believable and interesting than your regular RPG. Would love to see similar stuff in XV.
Yes, but that was an extremely old video. Don't bother considering mech mounts a reality until it's seen within the current builds. In one of the Versus XIII videos, didn't Noctis get into an enemy mech and use it?
