New God Of War III screens/trailer

IGN said:
Trying to bring this sense of scale into perspective, Asmussen mentioned two facts that would drive the size of the titans home. The first one was that many of the titans would be larger in size than that of the Sears Tower in Chicago, which gives a real world perspective on these character/levels. The other was that the titans were so large that the large Medusa Lair from God of War II would easily fit in the palm of Gaia's Hand.

Jesus. The scale and sense of adventure were always my favorite part about the first two games. Awesome to see they're just ramping that up.

"The best way that I can describe it is take D-Day, the Battle at Normandy, combine it with the movie Cloverfield, and put Kratos smack dab in the middle of it," Asmussen said.

Watched it again, and so yeah, this is basically the most amazing looking game after all. That trailer is simply insane.
That trailer is the best GoW trailer ever IMO. And that's saying something.

The animation is like... So good. Probably the best I've ever seen. I like it even more than crysis and killzone in some respects, simply because it's going so fast and Kratos in particular is like an achievement. His muscle movement is eerily good, it looks like CG animation or something.

Amazing scale and animations, that's for sure. Lighting is somehow a bit strange, I really don't know what it can be.

Are you guys seeing the Q&A posted on the official PS Blog?

"Playboy: Gamers don’t want long load times or storylines, do you plan to recap everything?"

........just.........ughhhhhhhhh.................fuck

I don't know if you can call 2009 "the year of the PS3" but damn if their 1st party exclusives aren't stepping up. Aside from KZ2, both Uncharted and GOW will help Sony sell some systems and I hope Infamous lives up to my hopes. I'd release it over the summer and hold uncharted for sept, gow for late october/november. All they need is the next GT but thats not happening any time soon. Oh, and a price drop.

Pretty underwhelming from Jaffe's hype. This is no painting. I don't even think they're trying to harness the PS3's power with this one.
Saw this and then read your post in the other thread. :lol
That vid pretty much owned you

Ugh, it still hasn't loaded up for me! I needz a Youtube HD link stat. The first few seconds with the crow (lawl) looks good though...

</3 GT. -_-

Looks like a ton of bloom.

I like that it's bloom heavy- it gives the magical effects a hazy look and the game overall a mythic atmosphere... Although some better range would be nice too.

That guy looked a bit nervous to be giving an interview for the camera. As the gaming industry moves forward in popularity, it's going to become more and more of a necessity to have a CliffyB type person at your company: someone who can not only talk in detail to the games design and implementation, but can also be a solid presenter.

Can't wait to see what the team can put out.

I'm curious to find out just how much, if at all, they are going to be changing the way combat works. What new elements they may add in addition to just different weapons.

"Painting come to life" my ass. Still, looks good.

Personally, I can't wait, because if it's even close to what we were shown during the screening, in the end, there might be only chaos, but it could also be one of the best games any system will ever have.
Begin the hyperbole train.

Shit, the 1080p version of the trailer is somewhere on SCEA's press site, but since it's beyond shitty I have no way to get it. Seriously, this piece of shit of a site doesn't even work (anymore) with firefox...

Okay I reuploaded them. :P

Personally the graphics are not even remotely impressive to me. I'm pretty disappointed. At least it's sure to run at 60fps...
I'm in the same boat, after playing and seeing Killzone 2, it's hard for me to go back.

Of course, the game looks GOOD but I don't understand the graphic hype.

That said, the stuff in the trailer sold me on the game and I will be there Day One to pick it up.

Didn't Jaffes comment appear around that time, though?

Yeah, but he also said that what he saw wasn't the trailer build, it was a later version.

I couldn't care less about Jaffe's original comments though and you people need to stop clinging to them. The game looks great, that's all that's important.

Holy shit at the "Epic Scale" trailer! Epic scale is epic, Insomniac am cry?
They have always cried, it's just that only now the actual top PS3 developers are showing up.

The trailer, he stated, was a piece of work that had been completed last Fall, but the team had been waiting to fully unveil the entire thing.

1UP said:
We actually completed this several months ago," said God of War 3 director Stig Asmussen at a press event earlier this week. "We've been sitting on it. I've anxiously been wanting to show it, but today was the day that we decided to unveil it.

For one, it's basically an extended trailer of what we saw at the VGAs, back in December(graphically it's exactly the same). Two, the directed stated so in the IGN article. :P

Is this really all we're gonna get today?

So what you're saying is that Jaffe traveled in time?

I'm just kidding. I trust that the game will look up to scratch come release.
