New Hitman: Absolution walkthrough - world's first hands-on footage

Dig in guys.

crow.jpg

Yup, pretty much.

Agreed, is that shit really going to sell more copies? I much prefer to see this type of video as it has me now totally interested in the game, and interested in playing all the others (which I bought last Christmas but have still never even installed -_-).

This is hardly the first Hitman they've had that approach with. Blood Money had a very action-oriented marketing campaign, and it sold quite well. It's a proven method, but gets the people who call themselves "true Hitman fans" panties' in a jumble, so to speak.

Anyway, if there's one negative about this video, it's the voice of the guy barking orders at you. Diana, I miss you already. :(

I want that newspaper-like end mission stat thing to return from Blood Money. It was fun seeing the report of your assassination. How you killed the target, how many other people you killed, how many shots fired and so on.

Hey guys, I bought Blood Money on steam but never sat down with it yet because it doesn't have native controller support. I absolutely suck at kb/m but if I play the game properly I shouldn't have to do much "twitch shooting" and such right?

You shouldn't, no.

So here's my question, when the crowd that Squeenix attracts with their action trailer finds that their run and gun bullshit probably won't work out in Hitman, will they be more inclined to adapt to the more cerebral puzzle gameplay of Hitman or just flip out and be burned on the franchise forever?

IO's been releasing a couple of those for a few months now.

If the entire game is as good as this looks, I will happily eat crow.

Looks quite easy, though.

Hitman games are easy if you already know the solution, when you first time playing it, you have to find it yourselves where to find poison, which item you can use it for, or where to look for bomb or sniper. for that accident kill, you have to know the route the target is moving and the fact that you can actually shoot thing like that.

If your good enough you might not even have to fire a single bullet in the first place. I cleared most of the missions using the wire and the and the poison/sedative thing. Trying to clear the mission with the least violence possible is VERY fun.

ahahaha and now they are all coming back

Ahh wow dude you are a childish bastard aren't you? Everybody in the other threads who were "hatin" on the game all said that if they SHOW us that this is still a true hitman game we would gladly be wrong and eat crow and all that dumb shit.

This game looks good NOW because they didnt actually show us any of this shit before. This is what real hitman fans have been waiting for..Let's not claim all previous released footage and screenshots inspired any hope at all.

Run and gun will work. It worked in the walkthrough.

You could run and gun in every Hitman game. And it worked.

You can run and gun in previous Hitman games. Sometimes it was easier to finish the harder modes with that method than the proper way.

who said run and gun won't work? it's obviously one of the method use in that video. I think that's the happy medium, people who want to run and gun can simply do that, but they'll never get the best rank/title by the end of mission.

what is it to you if other people finish their games with run and gun, it won't affect how you play the game.

It looks great... but somehow umm... weird? I can't put my finger on it.

Also, huge gaming pet peeve: slow walking animations on stairs when you look like you are walking up a slope!

having blind faith isn't something to be proud of.

So is not so linear as we though it is ?

Yet, few things I don't like in what I see in the trailer
- the way he walks, making small steps, the legs don't move so much. Looks a lot to first hitman walk and that is old. If the gameplay was from console if anyone notice, when he makes corners is like he got roller skates under his feet or something.
- don't like how the the knife throwing was made, I hope is not a script running there because in Blood Money you could miss the target head or body.
- I dislike a lot the fact that now I can't see full body again. Half of his legs are hiden with his shoes, plus the camera is to far from 47. WHY ?
- I see a beta word in the corner of the screen so I hope this mission in the actual game is not short like this because 10 minutes is just not normal.
- Forget to mention, one of the most important things about hitman and improvement. The clothes animation changes is still the same if not, this time is way too simple, I don't see any reaction. In Blood Money, 47 inclined took the clothes and arranged a bit to fit his body.
- I've been distracted all the time by some kind of star red effect from the sun that focuse on his bald head. Take that thing way.

What I really like and being impressed:
- Finally a good and new improvement that I was waiting to see from a long time; on crabing the target and carring it in that way in the dumpster. I like this a lot. Assassin Style.
- I like how how his targets or any other NPC/police cops are dying, falling after reacting when they get shot. Good animation so far. I don't like how he shoots though.
- I dislike the target knife throwing but I like a lot how he assassins them with the knife.
- I see a bit of good improvement how the bodies are dragged, they aren't solid like a piece of wood in Blood Money.

I think the overreaction of you guys was childish as fuck.

Anyway let's stop with this shit.

Now we ALL love Hitman again.

Not quite, now it's the question of whether or not the levels will be well-designed, varied, and expansive, unlike this one.

Yeah this level looks really small and yes these are still issues to be concerned about, especially since they are now using a checkpoint system instead of a save whenever you want type deal.

I think the overreaction of you guys was childish as fuck.

What overreaction? This gen has proven to destroy many a game franchise by dumbing it down for the casuals. After waiting years for a worthy sequel to blood money all we saw was Conviction 2.0! And that's what it looked like.

As long as it's more difficult to do it that way, meet more resistance etc. I don't see a problem.

Xpadder is pretty easy to set up. I found it impossible to play with KB/M so I took five minutes to download and configure it - definitely worthwhile!

Graphics are great on it. Found it funny how he called him 'Hitman' at the end of the video; as if to say he's a super hero or something.

voice over is too corny
Thank you! That was the first thing that struck me. That voice briefing you at the beginning; what the hell was that? I'm often taken out of the experience by the sort of over acting you usually hear in video games, but this is taking it to a whole new level. "Gonna get myself some snoooow-ah!"
Would not be surprised to hear a: "come out, come out, wherever you aaare!"

And also, why didn't more people react when that construction thing landed on the guy? People stood with their backs turned ten yards away.

Other than that is looks great. Too bad I haven't been able to get into a Hitman since the first. I'm too ADD for the meticulous missions.

Being a hyperreactive drama queen is never the "adult" route. I don't think that "relax, we'll see more later" when you're months before a game's release is blind faith. That's just called chilling the fuck out. Take your crow, there are others in line behind you.

Yeah you're definitely acting childish. Saying the game looked like shit because of what they showed is not being a hyperreactive drama queen, it's being real. They shouldn't get free passes for having a Dragon Age Origins-esque marketing campaign that until this point did an awful job selling the game to fans and non fans.

Bragging that your blind faith luckily turned out ok and going "hurr durr eat ur crow!" is childish though.

Nothing can top Splinter Cell Conviction, though. Man the VA was hilarious.

This has always been a tremendous weakness with the series (visually). It looks better than it ever has, but it's still awful. Hitman 1 and 2 had some of the worst walking animations you'll ever see.

It hurts, no? :)

Blind faith? Everything was there, shown many times, just not in longer footage like this.

Thanks everybody. I forgot that I downloaded xpadder to play that abobo 8-bit homage game (which was stellar, by the way). I'll set it up when I get home from work.

I'll still try to take the path of least violence though.

what is it to you if other people finish their games with run and gun, it won't affect how you play the game.

I didn't express a problem with it, it's just a difference between the market the advertising is aiming for and the game that is being portrayed in this demo footage and that I'm anticipating. I'm just wondering if there is in fact a negative to the marketing footage at all then.

Look at it this way: IO attracts a new audience to the Hitman franchise excited about action-Hitman and his fifty billion methods of killing dudes. The old crowd is disgusted by these stupid dumb-ass CG trailers but is so enthralled by the franchise and the new demo vids coming out that they still hang around the premises. The game releases, it's revealed to be everything the old crowd wanted plus a thin layer of action-Hitman. The old crowd loves it, some of the new crowd play it like Kane and Lynch 3 and are satisfied, some even dip into the more complex gameplay and find it appealing, others just drop the game entirely, but either way they've grown their audience.

If you think about it, this is actually an ideal method of marketing; appeal to new audiences with one extravagant hand but keep the old audience only just hooked. I suppose it doesn't really matter so long as we get a decent game though.

Re: the run and gun stuff though, I must admit I am the kind of douchey snob that forgot that people would play on anything below Professional level.

This looks pretty promising! Pretty excited for this, I just started replaying Blood Money and am excited to see what Hitman can do with the current tech.

Anyway, the irony of one who has been acting like a child for months calling others childish for being correct this entire time is delicious. I'm not one to rub it in like some other people have in the thread, but you've brought it upon yourself by acting the way you have up until now.

It hurts, no? :)

Please, show me earlier videos that show us how to poison your target, kill him accident style, a sandbox style level, crowds..

Please do good sir, if you feel up to the task.

I like this new character..

"You want me to snoop around the agency? You crazy?..... Yeah, you crazy"
