New inFamous preview and screens

Wow at the new IGN videos.

Visuals have gotten better, audio sounds more "complete", and it all seems to be running very nicely (some previous videos looked to have some slowdown in high-action parts, not now though).

Also the combat looks more hectic. :D

This game looks soooo boring...there's something that seems off about it. Maybe that it seems like a Spiderman type game...possibly even Hulk.

EDIT: Just read one of the descriptions...yes...definately Spiderman-esque.:lol

Will not be buying this then! Repetition will settle in before you know it.

See I get this feeling from Prototype, but not infamous.

EDIT2: The PSN videos are really old I think. Not sure why they even released them. The newest trailer and IGN gameplay videos look so much better.

I am most excited about the platforming stuff, it looked really fun on the PSN videos when he was traversing around that tower.

Crackdown with a touch of Hulk, along with actual game play depth and a story... Should be some people's GOTY. I'll give it a whirl myself, see if it can hold my interest beyond two or three days unlike other sandbox games.

The moral choice voice overs parts are horrible. You don't have to explain with such great detail that your making a moral choice. Its like they think the people playing this game are idiots.

Awesome stuff there! The karma system seems pretty interesting. It's cool that you can make decisions both through gameplay and cut scenes. Also that your powers differ if you choose one path over the other. The trailers displayed much more action than they've shown before; not sure how anyone can say it looks boring.. June seems so far away. I hope they release the demo in late May. I can't wait to get my hands on this:D

And yea I wish the moral choices was more open ended like a mission in one of the GTA3's (set up things before you start the mission, finish the mission how you see fit), vs linear like missions in gta4 (highly scripted). Just give me the objective and let me figure out a way to do it. Maybe I'd naturally be evil while trying to be good based on how lazy and easy I want things to be for me (taking a lot of shortcuts, not minding the things in my way, liking how awesome that red poster look).

I thought people were over the run animation by now. *shrug*

I like what they're doing with the Karma system. It's conducive to to multiple playthroughs as it not only changes the story (seemingly), but the environment and the abilities you have access to as well. The only issue I have is that, if people are going to nag you all day about making evil choices (Trish), I hope Cole's attidude becomes more sinister as well. If shaking his head and feeling sorry is the extent, I'll be disappointed.

Not everything I saw was strictly a Karma example; Sucker Punch also let me get a taste of some of the 100 side missions that'll be packed into this game. Similar to Spider-Man, Grand Theft Auto, or whatever other open world you're thinking of, icons will pop up on both the onscreen radar as well as in-game map to show where people who need your assistance are
.

Woah 100 side missions :0

I have zero problem with the gameplay, I just kind of hope they buff up the graphics a bit more. We still have time till release, but PLEASE take your time, as we want it to look as smooth as possible.

everything about the cinematics look horrible, and whats up with explaining your choices in detail, that totaly ruins the interest I had in their karma system. At least the gameplay looks fun, but they should have just made a Sly 4

No I glad they did not, I rather have something new first.

Methinks this will be a Gamestop pre-order and you get the demo thing again.. Which sucks.

Goddam I hate that.

They would definitely lose my potential sale, at least at full price. Did you hear that Gamestop/SP/Sony?

I'm so glad a demo is coming because right now I can't see me buying it. I'm interested, and it's a barren wasteland this summer, but I'm not impressed with any aspect of what I've seen so far.

I was expecting quite a powerhouse title from this. Ages in development, a single platform development. I didn't expect GTA4 to outclass it visually.

Dislikes: Coal himself seems wayyy too generic (in voice and personality) he doesn't even mesh with his Girlfriend or 'Zeke' in the scenes we see them interacting in. Like, holy hell, is it possible for them to have made him sound any more bland, generic, and unemotional? I hope they redo all his voice work and make him sound like a real person. It's embarassing even by video game standards.

Second thing, the Karma system is cool, but the examples in that video are horrible clear cut and the narration in his head should be more conflicted, less "I'm explaining to the player lol!' Give us actual ethical dilemmas that are well presented, like in Mass Effect, please.

Looks much better than the console GTAIVs to me... at least the new IGN footage and trailer.

Really? It's been a while since I popped in GTA but what I've seen of InFamous looks like ass visually. Maybe GTA4 did as well though.

fine, but atleast stick to the style they are good at. They try for a realistic presentation and end up coming short. I believe the presentation would have been better if they stuck with a cell shaded look.

Because of the lack of a terrible paint filter that muddies everything, this wins by default.

The PSN videos look worse than GTAIV did but the newer videos look a lot better to me. Same with the new screenshots.

It is also looking a lot cleaner (running at 720p unlike GTAIV PS3 did).

EDIT: GTAIV 360 looks clean but the texture work here seems pretty darn good, better than any other console-open-world game.

And it will possibly have a smooth frame rate when moving fast. No jet pack required.

Maybe you're right, I haven't seen any videos since the last couple up on PSN.

Out of interest, how big is the 'open-world'? You can't drive but it seems you can travel by standing on trains so it could be massive, but I haven't heard anything about how big it is.

One of the PSN videos end in Coal attacking loads of guys in red and the framerate falls to slideshow territory.

So, yeah, Infamous continues to knock my socks off. Right now, the game is complete in terms of missions and such, but the team is focusing on polishing everything over and over so that the experience is all that it can be.
.

Hopefully they are working on that, one of the new IGN videos gets pretty hectic but doesn't seem to dip at all.

EDIT: Again I am assuming that IGN has a newer build.

Hey that looks really good! First I look at videos for this game and I'm liking what I see and read... Let's hope the game delivers.

The video you reference has a shot of most of the city. It looks large.

Probably mentioned already, but I seriously hope they don't hit you over the head with every fucking moral choice. I can accept if it's the first two-three choices, but the rest shouldn't be so damn clear.

I think the city has to be really good. That's my best factor for these games. I like the jumps and such you can do in Crackdown, but the game feels pretty lifeless apart from that. Hand to hand isn't fun, gunplay isn't too fun. This looks like it could be much better. The illusion of depth is really important though to keep me playing for a while.

Sucker Punch could definitely do something good though. The first Sly game was interesting, and this is a different sort of deal for them now.

Also, I've come to have an exaggerated regard for PS3 exclusives lately, I'm hoping the days of Lair, Heavenly Sword, Haze, etc. are a thing of the past. They've made so good lately.

If Sony is funding development, we can be pretty sure that other dev teams will help out if anything need be. Thats why I'm really hoping they parachute some programmers in to fix those graphics. Everything else, barring a few animations, looks ACE.
