Lexus has avoided putting virtual versions of its cars in console games. Until now. The company has inked a deal with Atari to put the Lexus IS350 into Atari's new Test Drive Unlimited for the Xbox 360 platform.

The company says the IS350 is the first of five Lexus vehicles bound for the game. Others will be the LS 460 premium car, the GS450h hybrid sedan, the SC430 roadster, and the LS600h L, which will go on sale in the spring of 2007 as the world's first full-hybrid V-8 sedan.

Deborah Wahl Meyer, Lexus vice president of marketing said the purpose is to reach younger buyers, the traditional target for the IS line, Lexus' entry model, and traditional BMW 3-Series fighter.

"Our foray into online gaming will help Lexus reach the IS model's younger target audience, educate gamers to the many styling and performance aspects of the IS, and also further expose Lexus as a brand with high-performance attributes," she said in a release.

The game also includes a virtual dealership that, in design and appointments, is meant to replicate a real Lexus showroom, and they can personalize the car with items from a real/virtual catalogue.

Not having played TDU yet(though it's sitting on my couch) I have to ask, have their been additional cars added to it since it's release? And if so where they added as free or paid?

I'd expect the Lexus' vehicles to keep whatever the existing trend is going... so I'm going to guess microtransaction time.

Then again since it's been available since 11/21, maybe not!

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
There have been numerous updates since I've last played, so I wouldn't be the one to ask. I'm more an RR6 kinda guy.

Yup was just playing the 360 version last night, #14 on the Black List(Taz?) drives an IS 300.

EDIT:

I'm also pretty sure there is an IS 300 in NFS Carbon as well.

EDIT2:

Not only that but there is an even older IS 300 in Underground 2.

They must be referring to the fact that Lexus hasn't put any NEW models in any videogames in awhile. The IS featured in the NFS games is the first generation one, the new one went on sale late last year I think.

GT3, GT Concept and GT4 all featured Lexus.

They are under the US in GT4. There is the SC430, GS300, IS200, IS300.

GT Concept featured the SC430, which was pretty new at the time.

GT3 had the Altezza AS200 which is the Japanese version of the IS200, which has a different engine, but is still rear wheel drive.

Maybe this is only in the UK release of these games.
